When will Rhamondre Stevenson return and play? Will Rhamondre Stevenson be back again this season? Read the latest Rhamondre Stevenson injury updates and return date for Week 10 (2025).
New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) missed his Week 9 contest against the Atlanta Falcons with a toe injury. It's the first time he hasn't been able to suit up for a contest this season. In his absence, RB TreVeyon Henderson took over the starting role.
Despite the Patriots using a second-round pick on Henderson in the 2025 NFL Draft, Stevenson has maintained his grip on the starting job and has handled quite a few touches over the course of the season, much to the rage of those who drafted Henderson in fantasy leagues.
But Stevenson's injury will play a part in determining how much work he gets moving forward. So, when will he return and be back for the Patriots, and what's his fantasy outlook moving forward?

Rhamondre Stevenson Injury Update
We haven't gotten confirmation on what exactly his injury is yet. We'll get more clarity when the team starts practicing on Tuesday, but given that he wasn't placed on injured reserve, he shouldn't miss more than a few games.
That said, he didn't practice at all in Week 9, meaning we'll have to keep an eye on his practice status moving forward. If he's able to return in a limited fashion on Tuesday, that will be a good sign. Toe injuries can come in many forms.

Maybe we'll get an update about the specifics of the injury at some point. Keep your eyes peeled.
Rhamondre Stevenson Fantasy Football Outlook
Stevenson has maintained his job despite a concerning history of not being able to hang on to the ball. It remains to be seen if he'll continue to struggle with this issue. Much of the fantasy community assumed it would lead to him losing his starting job, but that hasn't been the case.

The most likely reason for this is that Stevenson is still a much better runner between the tackles than Henderson.

Stevenson is bigger, more physical, harder to bring down, and better at picking up yards after initial contact, especially on runs in between the tackles. NFL teams need physical forces in the run game to help in short-yardage and goal-line situations, and Stevenson brings exactly that.
Henderson finally scored double-digit PPR fantasy points in Week 9, rushing 14 times for 55 yards and catching four of his six targets for 32 yards. But it's important not to jump the gun here -- we saw RB Terrell Jennings, who had zero touches in the first six weeks, handle the goal-line work and pick up a touchdown.

Jennings played a modified version of the Stevenson role. The idea that Henderson will take over the backfield is probably incorrect -- he's really not useful unless he's running the ball to the outside. Stevenson's fantasy upside is a different matter altogether.
When he plays, he doesn't get a lot of passing game work, and he hasn't scored a ton of rushing TDs this year. The Patriots tend to get in the end zone through the air, thanks to Drake Maye playing at a very high level. Stevenson is at best a flex play in deep leagues. He does have a nice schedule coming up, though.
He could become a low-end RB2 if the cards fall right for him.
