Well-Known Fantasy Baseball Players - Drop, Hold, or Sell Low for Week 10? (2025)

Adolis Garcia - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Joey discusses five well-known fantasy baseball hitters and pitchers who have not performed well heading into Week 10 of the 2025 season. Is it time to drop, sell, or hold?

Welcome, RotoBallers, to our weekly article about well-known fantasy baseball players. Every Monday, we will look at which big-name fantasy players might be struggling. It could be a hitter in the middle of a slump or a pitcher coming off a few rough outings in a row.

We will then determine whether we should drop, hold, or sell these players for a low price. All five players featured in this week's edition are rostered in over 50% of Yahoo! leagues heading into Week 10 of the fantasy baseball season (June 2 to June 8).

So, what should fantasy managers do with these five well-known players? Should we drop, hold, or sell them? Let's find out.

Brandon Pfaadt, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt was looking like a draft steal early in the year. Pfaadt had a 2.78 ERA and 29 strikeouts through his first six starts. He was really a consistent fantasy pitcher to start the season and recorded a quality start in four of those six outings.

However, things have been rough for Pfaadt over the past month. He has allowed 24 earned runs across his last 26 2/3 innings pitched (8.10 ERA) and is coming off the worst start of his career. The right-hander didn't record an out in his last start against the Nationals on Sunday, giving up eight runs on six hits to begin the game.

Given this rough stretch, it's not shocking that Pfaadt continues to be dropped in some fantasy formats. He struggled in all six of his May starts and has allowed three runs or more in four straight outings. Even though most of those starts came against some elite offenses (Dodgers, Phillies, and Cardinals), fantasy managers should be looking to sell him for cheap.

Pfaadt's metrics also suggest that things might not get better for him in the coming weeks. His expected batting average against (.323), strikeout rate (18.2%), whiff rate (22%), hard-hit rate (50.3%), and barrel rate (13.6%) all rank extremely poor. So, try to trade him away before his next start.

Verdict: Sell low in all formats

Walker Buehler, SP, Boston Red Sox

Boston Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler was starting to get into a groove on the mound toward the end of April. He had a 2.59 ERA and 22 strikeouts across four starts from April 10 to April 26. Unfortunately, Buehler landed on the 15-day injured list following that outing due to shoulder soreness.

He was eventually reinserted into that Boston rotation on May 20, but it hasn't been smooth sailing. Buehler was ejected in his first start back for arguing balls and strikes and has allowed seven runs across 10 2/3 innings in his last two starts. In his most recent outing, the right-hander gave up five runs across 5 2/3 innings pitched against the Atlanta Braves.

Therefore, some fantasy managers might not know what to do with Buehler heading into Week 10. While some managers might still be hanging on to the Red Sox pitcher, it might be time to drop him in most formats. He isn't generating a ton of whiffs, and his fastball (four-seam and cutter) continues to get hit hard

Opposing hitters are batting .310 with a .621 slugging percentage against his four-seam fastball while batting .406 with a .688 slugging percentage against his cutter this season. That makes Buehler a fine drop in most leagues. He is also set to face the Yankees in his next start, which isn't an ideal matchup for him.

Verdict: Drop in 12-team leagues

Hunter Goodman, C/OF, Colorado Rockies

There's no doubt that Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman has been an inconsistent fantasy option this season. He'll have some hot stretches and then really cold stretches at the plate. From May 1 to May 17, Goodman hit .349 with two home runs, five doubles, one triple, and 15 RBI across a 15-game span.

Since then, though, he has been unplayable. He is batting just .157 with one extra-base hit, two RBI, and 18 strikeouts in his last 14 games. Goodman has also not tallied an RBI or scored a run in eight straight contests. So, it's tough to keep a player amid this brutal stretch.

That makes him a drop in some 12-team leagues. His whiff rate (32.7%), strikeout rate (32.7%), and expected batting average (.240) are all very concerning, and playing for the Rockies definitely limits his upside. He might not score many runs or drive in many runs throughout the season.

There are definitely 12 better catches than his entering Week 10.

Verdict: Drop in most 12-team leagues

Kyle Stowers, OF, Miami Marlins

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers got off to a blazing start this season. He had a .319 batting average with 10 home runs, seven doubles, two triples, 31 RBI, and three stolen bases in his first 47 games. However, Stowers has definitely been in a little bit of a slump over the past week.

He has just two hits across his last 30 at-bats (.067 batting average) to go with zero extra-base hits, one RBI, and eight strikeouts. As a result, his rostership has dropped to 61% in Yahoo! leagues.

Now, it's not a huge surprise to see fantasy managers drop him amid this rough stretch. He has looked awful at the plate recently, and we all grow impatient when players go through these slumps. Nevertheless, Stowers is a player worth holding in almost all formats heading into Week 10 of the fantasy baseball season.

Stowers was always going to go through some ups and downs in his first full season in the majors. Fantasy managers, though, have to be encouraged by his solid all-around numbers to start the year. He is currently batting .286 with 10 home runs, three stolen bases, and 32 RBI across 54 games in 2025.

While strikeouts remain a problem for him, it is a nice sign that his expected batting average (.282), expected slugging (.550), barrel rate (20.1%), and hard-hit rate (53.0%) all rank in the top 20% of the league. That makes Stowers a strong hold in almost every format.

Verdict: Hold in all formats

Adolis Garcia, OF, Texas Rangers

It was just two years ago that Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia was one of the best power hitters in the game. He hit .245 with 39 home runs and 107 RBI in his All-Star campaign in 2023. Sadly, Garcia has not been the same type of hitter over the past few years. The 32-year-old struggled offensively for most of the 2024 season, and those struggles have continued into 2025.

Garcia is slashing just .208/.256/.371 with seven home runs, 27 RBI, and five stolen bases across 56 games this season. The two-time All-Star is also batting just .122 over his last 12 games, and the Rangers decided to sit him in all three games against the Cardinals this past weekend in hopes that an extended break could help him.

While the extended break could finally get him going, it might be time to get rid of Garcia in all formats. His expected batting average (.233), squared-up rate (25.2%), chase rate (40.4%), and whiff rate (31.7%) all rank in the bottom half of the league. It's hard to keep a player who has looked lost at the plate for most of the year.

If you need some power, then Garcia could be a hold in some 12-team roto leagues. Other than that, it might be best to cut your losses and trade for someone a bit more consistent.

Verdict: Sell low in 12-team leagues
