Top 50 Fantasy Baseball Prospects for Week 10

Jo Adell - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The minor league season rolls into Week 10 as we leave the month of May behind us. The Rays' minor league system continues to dominate the ranking while the Cincinnati Reds organization remains a strong contributor to the list.

Speaking of the Reds, the club promoted pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez last week, so he's been removed from the list now that he's on the MLB roster. Two other hurlers also received promotions last week: Alek Manoah and Deivi Garcia. Both Gutierrez and Manoah pitched well and could hang around for a while.

With a number of promotions and a few other players falling off the list, there is a group of new prospects joining the ranking from six different organizations -- Seattle, Chicago (AL), Los Angeles (AL), Baltimore, Tampa Bay, and Cincinnati -- that could impact 2021 redraft leagues. *To be eligible for this ranking, players cannot have exceeded MLB rookie limits (130 AB for hitters, 50 IP for pitchers) and must be on a minor league roster.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and weekly lineup resources:

Top 10 Prospects for 2021

1. Vidal Brujan, IF/OF: Brujan's early, torrid pace has slowed a bit, but his overall numbers are still outstanding. Taylor Walls has solidified shortstop for now at the MLB level, but the club could look to replace the struggling Mike Brosseau (70 wRC+) with Brujan.

2. Jesus Sanchez, OF: Sanchez is still banging out hits, but the power output has mostly dried up over the past week. Starling Marte is back from the injured list, but Miami's outfielders have otherwise been disappointing.

3. Wander Franco, SS/3B: Franco entered the weekend on a five-game hit streak and also had not gone down on strikes during that stretch, which is pretty much unbelievable in this era of baseball. Just 20, he has a 133 wRC+ in Triple-A.

4. Josh Lowe, OF: Lowe entered the weekend on a seven-game hit streak and has seven home runs in 18 games. He has a 164 wRC+ in Triple-A and could develop into a 20-20 (HR-SB) threat.

5. Jackson Kowar, SP: The 33rd overall selection from the 2018 draft has been excellent in Triple-A. In five starts, he has a 1.01 ERA with a K-BB of 36-9 in 26 2/3 innings. He has yet to allow a home run.

6. Tucker Davidson, SP: The Braves organization doesn't hesitate to yo-yo its young pitchers between the majors and the minors. It pretty much ruined Kyle Wrightbut Davidson has handled it well so far this year. He's probably ready for a regular big-league role.

7. Jo Adell, OF: Adell's power numbers are ridiculous. He has 10 home runs in 20 games at Triple-A and they account for almost 50% of his total hits this year. The downside is that he's turned himself into a very one-dimensional player and the 34% strikeout rate isn't going to get any better at the MLB level.

8. Joey Bart, C: Bart hasn't played since May 20 while dealing with a groin injury. He shouldn't be out much longer, but the club is understandably being cautious with him.

9. MacKenzie Gore, SP: This young lefty's command and control have been all over the place early on this season. He doesn't appear to be hurt, but he may be putting too much pressure on himself given how close he is to the majors.

10. Jhoan Duran, SP: Duran is back from a trapezius strain and he's looking good so far. He's tickled triple digits with his heater and has had excellent variation in speeds with his secondary offerings. If he can find a reliable breaking ball, he could be a beast for Minnesota.

Prospects 11-20

11. Brandon Marsh, OF: Marsh has yet to heat up since getting a late start to the year due to a shoulder injury. Still, the talent is there for him to get good in a hurry.

12. Taylor Trammell, OF: Trammell's red-hot performance at Triple-A has cooled down recently, but he's still hitting more than .400 in 14 minor league games. His focus should be on making more consistent contact and getting back to being more of a threat on the base paths.

13. Keibert Ruiz, C: Ruiz is loaded with potential, but he's struggled with providing consistent performances over the past couple of years. He's been a little better than average at Triple-A, but he has the talent to do much better.

14. Jarren Duran, OF: Aside from a monster 5-for-5 game on May 22, Duran has been relatively quiet lately. He'll be away from regular duty in the minors while participating in the Olympic baseball qualifying tournament, which begins May 31.

15. Nate Pearson, SP: Fellow pitching prospect Alek Manoah came up last week and absolutely dominated the Yankees, which should lessen the pressure on Pearson to get back to the MLB level. He's missed a lot of time and just needs to string together some dominant, healthy appearances.

16. Hunter Greene, SP: Greene had another dominant start at Double-A on Saturday and most importantly, showed better control. He posted a 8-1 K-BB ratio while allowing two runs in seven innings of work. He's likely not long for Double-A.

17. Seth Beer, DH/1B: Beer entered the weekend on a run of 12 games without a home run despite the fact his power is his calling card. On the positive side, he still has a 126 wRC+ and has been productive in other ways.

18. Jose Garcia, SS: According to MiLB, Jose Garcia is now known as Jose Barrero. The Cuban-born shortstop was also placed on the temporarily inactive list between May 21 and May 29. He's been hitting very well at Double-A and has a 183 wRC+.

19. Nick Lodolo, SP: Lodolo has struck out eight or more batters in three of his four appearances this season. He's also thrown seven or more innings in each of his last two outings. He's likely ready for the Triple-A challenge.

20. Max Meyer, SP: The third-overall pick from the 2020 amateur draft has been solid this season with a K-BB ratio of 19-5 in 19 2/3 innings.

Prospects 21-30

21. Edward Olivares, OF: Olivares entered the weekend having produced four multi-hit games over his last five appearances. He's also continued to show his improved approach at the plate with an 11% walk rate and 14% strikeout rate.

22. Daniel Lynch, SP: Lynch is slowly getting back into the swing of things in Triple-A after a disappointing first taste of MLB action. In his last start, the lefty posted a 6-1 K-BB ratio with just one run allowed in 5 2/3 innings.

23. Gabriel Moreno, C: Moreno's playing time has been inconsistent over the past week due to some weather cancellations and he's striking out at a higher rate than normal, but he's still hitting .393 through 15 games.

24. Roansy Contreras, SP: After opening up the season with three scoreless starts, Contreras was roughed up a bit last week when he allowed three walks and coughed up his first homer of the season over four innings of work.

25. Shane Baz, SP: Baz had his roughest outing of the year last time out when he allowed four runs in five innings, but he still missed lots of bats and struck out a season-high 10 batters.

26. Drew Waters, OF: Waters hasn't really been anything special at Triple-A this season, but the toolsy prospect could see some MLB action if Atlanta keeps struggling with injuries in the outfield.

27. Tanner Houck, SP: Houck remains sidelined with an injury.

28. Brailyn Marquez, SP: Marquez is still working his way back after contracting COVID-19.

29. Lewin Diaz, 1B: Diaz earned a one-game promotion to the majors last week, but struck out three times in four at-bats and was promptly sent back to the minors.

30. Jeter Downs, SS/2B: Downs just hasn't been able to get going this year. He has a disappointing 98 wRC+ and an ugly 38% strikeout rate, which is almost 20% higher than his normal rate.

Prospects 31-40

31. Cal Raleigh, C: The Mariners organization has received dismal offensive contributions from four different catchers this year. Raleigh could be a huge addition in the second half of the year. He hit 29 home runs in 2019 and has shown a much-improved approach at the plate so far in 2021 with a .338 average and a strikeout rate of just 14% (down from 30% in '19).

32. Matthew Liberatore, SP: Liberatore will be away from minor league baseball as he participates in the Olympic baseball qualifying tournament, which begins May 31. He's been roughed up a bit during his first taste of Triple-A action.

33. Brent Rooker, OF: Rooker is on a five-game hit streak and could be heating up. However, strikeouts remain an issue for the slugger.

34. Michael Busch, 2B: The consistent swing-and-miss is worrisome, but Busch continues to hit for power and has a 160 wRC+ at the Double-A level.

35. Heliot Ramos, OF: The 21-year-old Ramos has been solid in Double-A, but his strikeout rate is at 30% and he's not producing much home-run pop.

36. DL Hall, SP: Through four starts, Hall has 31 strikeouts in 16 innings of work. He's also been inducing a ton of ground ball outs.

37. CJ Abrams, SS: Abrams hasn't played since May 22 and is dealing with an ankle injury.

38. Triston Casas, 1B: The 21-year-old Casas isn't hitting for much power (his calling card), but he's still performing well at Double-A with a 161 wRC+. He'll be stepping away from minor league baseball to participate in the Olympic baseball qualifying tournament.

39. Nick Pratto, 1B: Pratto is striking out a little bit more recently, but he's still looking like a completely different player than the one that hit just .191 in 124 High-A games in 2019. He currently has a 207 wRC+ through 20 games.

40. Matt Manning, SP: It's been an ugly year for Manning, who looked like he was a couple of good months away from the majors. In his last outing, he allowed six runs on six hits and three walks over just 3 1/3 innings.

Prospects 41-50

41. Adley Rutschman, C: Rutschman has been a little more consistent with the bat recently. He's also continuing to show a strong eye at the plate and has a walk rate of 23%.

42. Jonathan Stiever, SP: Stiever pitched one rough inning on May 22 against the Rays' Triple-A club and hasn't appeared since then. There has been no word on his status.

43. Nolan Gorman, 3B: Gorman hit a bit of a rough patch last week and saw many of his numbers take a slide. He looked better this past weekend though, and is on a mini three-game hit streak.

44. Josiah Gray, SP: Gray is currently on the disabled list and likely won't be back until the middle of the year.

45. Geraldo Perdomo, SS: Perdomo is still scuffling at the Double-A level with a 61 wRC+. Known for his advanced bat, he's hitting just .156 in 18 games.

46. Nolan Jones, 3B: Jones is still striking out a lot, but he's been stringing together hits on a more consistent basis over the past week.

47. Kyle Bradish, SP: Bradish, 24, did not allow a run in three Double-A starts, which earned him a shot at Triple-A. His first game didn't go so well (two runs in 3 1/3 innings), but he could see the majors later this year.

48. Packy Naughton, SP: This 25-year-old southpaw has been solid at Triple-A for the Angels organization and he has a K-BB of 17-2 in 16 1/3 innings. He also induces ground balls at a high rate and has yet to allow a homer this season.

49. Joe Ryan, SP: Ryan doesn't have the best ERA at 4.57 and he's allowed some big hits, but he has a history of missing bats and his strikeout rate sits at 37%. Traditionally a starter, he could be a solid multi-inning reliever for the Rays later this season.

50. Jake Burger, 3B: Burger blew out his Achilles tendon twice and hasn't played since 2017, but this former first-round pick has shaken the rust off very well. He may not be an everyday third baseman, but he looks like he can hit so he might still have solid value even if he moves down the defensive spectrum to first base or DH.
