Should I start DK Metcalf, Marvin Harrison Jr., Josh Downs for Week 10? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
We're about to start Week 10 of the 2025 NFL season -- well, the main slate of games at least. Thursday's game already happened, and it was an abysmal low-scoring affair between the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders.
Hopefully you didn't start any pass-catcher other than Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin in that game. If you did, you were probably massively disappointed, as the rest underperformed.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf, Arizona Cardinals wideout Marvin Harrison Jr., and Indianapolis Colts slot receiver Josh Downs will all play this week. Which should you start for fantasy football, and hopefully avoid a dud like Broncos WR Courtland Sutton had? Let's dive in.

Should I Start DK Metcalf for Fantasy Football?
Metcalf's last three weeks of play have featured his two worst performances this season. In Week 7, in an incredibly favorable matchup against the awful Cincinnati Bengals defense, Metcalf only managed 8.0 PPR fantasy points by catching three passes for 50 yards.
It will never fail to amaze me how soft DK Metcalf plays for being 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds. Sub-200 pound WRs fight for the ball harder than he does. pic.twitter.com/HByfXV40ZR

The above play really is emblematic of who he is as a player -- his massive size doesn't belie much play strength. There are quite a few receivers weighing under 200 pounds that are much more physical at the catch point and far more proficient making contested catches.
In Week 9, Metcalf had his worst game of the season. Despite the Steelers cruising to a win over the Indianapolis Colts, he was targeted only four times, and caught just two passes for six yards with no touchdowns, finishing with 2.6 PPR fantasy points.
I liked Lou's plan to limit DK Metcalf to 2 catches for 6 yards.
They played coverages that were pretty much Fangio's "Zeus".
It's a coverage that changes based on where DK lines up. If he's at #1 it's QQH with cloud to his side. If it he's at #2 or #3 it becomes quarters. pic.twitter.com/SqcAcvMWHs

The Colts had no issue shutting him down, and if I had to guess, I would say that Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be slightly more reluctant to throw Metcalf jump balls in the future. Of course, he's had some utility after the catch and still has excellent speed.
And the Los Angeles Chargers, who Pittsburgh faces in Week 10, have a porous defense. Their run defense is especially suspect, but they have a high-powered offense, so in a potential shootout, Metcalf is a low-end WR2 with upside.
Should I Start Marvin Harrison Jr. for Fantasy Football?
It seems that quarterback Kyler Murray (foot) was an obstacle to the development, and fantasy upside, of Harrison. Murray has now missed three contests, and while Harrison was very pedestrian for two of those, scoring 5.2 and 7.8 PPR fantasy points in Week 6 and Week 7, he had a great game after their bye in Week 9.
Against the Dallas Cowboys' porous secondary, Harrison caught seven of his ten targets for 96 yards and a touchdown, finishing with 22.6 PPR fantasy points. The Cowboys have been an absolute sieve to opposing passing offense, which have diced them up all season.

The Seattle Seahawks in Week 10, who Arizona will face on the road, present a much tougher challenge. Harrison has potential, but I wouldn't be surprised if Cardinals starting QB Jacoby Brissett struggles. Harrison is a risky flex play -- he's still the team's second-best pass-catcher behind tight end Trey McBride.
Should I Start Josh Downs for Fantasy Football?
Downs might have a bit more volume with wide receiver Adonai Mitchell having been traded to the New York Jets after last week's game. That said, playing time is always the big issue for him. He's a slot receiver, so he only plays in 3WR sets. When there are two tight ends on the field for the Colts, Downs is on the sidelines.
He's the WR3, and the fourth-most targeted pass-catcher, for the Colts, behind WRs Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce and tight end Tyler Warren. Warren allows Indy to run plenty of 2TE sets, which also help the offense in run situations as Downs is a smaller WR and can't block well.
It's a @Colts TD! Josh Downs ties it up.

His value has been boosted by receiving touchdowns in the last three games, but he's not typically a great red zone weapon due to his size. We've seen over 60 percent of snaps in consecutive games, but he has yet to eclipse 60 yards receiving.
As a flex option in 12-team PPR leagues he's fine to start, but not without risk.
