Wide Receivers Waiver Wire: Week 3 Pickups & Adds

Welcome back everyone! Here we are heading into Week 3. The injury bug went around the league during Week 2, but for the most part avoided the WR position. Brandon Marshall is dealing with some knee troubles (still a shot to play in Week 3), Julio Jones is limping (nothing new, he’s fine),

Below you will find some deeper waiver wire grabs heading into Week 3. If you are forced to pick between two players, find me on twitter @Ben_Ruppert_21, and I will be more than happy to help you out! Now, let’s get rolling.

Editor's Note: Be sure to check out FantasyAces DFS contests for Week 3. New users that sign up on Fantasy Aces and make a $20 deposit will receive RotoBaller's full season NFL Premium Pass for free (including Premium DFS), normally a $59.99 value. Week 3 Waiver Wire - Wide Receivers (WR)

Check out my entries from Week 2 as well. If players like Will FullerTajae Sharpe, Mike WallacePhillip Dorsett or Corey Coleman are still out there, PICK THEM UP FIRST. Below are mostly deeper options who will likely be available in many leagues.

Tyrell Williams, WR, SD – 34% owned on Fleaflicker

Tyrell Williams was on this list last week, but after the injury to RB Danny Woodhead even more targets will be available in the San Diego offense. Last week, it was clear that Travis Benjamin was the go-to option, but Williams did the most with his three receptions, going for 61 yards and a score.

Moving forward, this San Diego team will likely need to go into throw mode more often than not. Williams is a big, fast moving target that Rivers will look to for deeper passes. Last week his average catch went for 20.3 yards, with a long of 44. While Benjamin will likely be the most productive receiver in this offense, Williams will be a close second with Antonio Gates getting his share of the TDs and Melvin Gordon mixing in as well.

Williams is a lost-cost player to add now who could provide a big boost to WR needy teams moving forward. If he snuck through unclaimed last week, get in on him now because it will be your last chance to do so without having to pay much.

Quincy Enunwa, WR, NYJ – 12% owned on Fleaflicker

Quincy Enunwa has come out of nowhere this season. The third year pro has looked great this season, securing 13-of-14 targets this season for 146 yards and a TD. He should be an immediate add in all competitive leagues this week. Last week he was able to burn top-10 CB Stephon Gilmore several times in the Jets rout of the Buffalo Bills.

Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has always made good use of the third receiver in his offenses. Back in his Buffalo days he made good use out of receivers like Roscoe Parrish, David Nelson, and Donald Jones. Enunwa is certainly more talented than that bunch of receivers. Even as the third receiver in an offense that contains Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, through two games he only has three less targets than Marshall and one less than Decker.

Gailey will make sure he can exploit the matchup problems the 6’2”, 225lbs. Enunwa can create with his size. With Marshall dinged up and Decker dealing with a sore shoulder. Enunwa can pay immediate dividends for owners who play him next week.

Jamison Crowder, WR, WAS – 11% owned on Fleaflicker

After the Redskins drafted Josh Doctson with their first pick in the NFL draft, it created a log jam at WR with Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, Doctson, and Crowder. So far this season, the Redskins have had to do a ton of passing. It is DeSean Jackson who leads the team in receiving yards with 142, but it is Crowder who has emerged with the most targets at 18 (TE Jordan Reed also has 18 targets, but in terms of WR Crowder leads the team).

Crowder has caught 12-of-18 targets for 97 yards and a TD so far this season. He has run mostly short-to-intermediate routes, so he is a much more suitable PPR add than in standard where his upside will be limited. However, even with his small stature (5’9”, 174 lbs.) he has four targets in the red zone with two receptions, and his lone TD.

Crowder will continue receiving plenty of targets as a preferred option by QB Kirk Cousins. As we move forward the Redskins will undoubtedly have to throw a bit less (89 pass attempts through two games), but Crowder’s role will remain unchanged. He is shaping up to be a solid deeper league add.

More Options: Victor Cruz (37% owned), Michael Thomas (48% owned), Nelson Agholor, PHI (45% owned)

Other Wide Receivers To Consider Adding

Tyler Boyd, WR, CIN - 37% owned on Fleaflicker

Tyler Boyd had a solid second game as a Bengal, catching 6-of-8 targets for 78 yards. While he did lose a costly fumble towards the end of the game, replays showed that it was a controversial call at best. While he was one of the most reliable receivers QB Andy Dalton had on Sunday, he is still behing Brandon LaFell in the pecking order. However, on Sunday LaFell only caught 3-of-8 targets, and with his suspect hands he will need to perform better to keep Boyd down for long.

Eddie Royal, WR, CHI - 14% owned on Fleaflicker

The Bears offensive line doesn’t leave starting QB Jay Cutler much time to think. Defenders are able to get to him quick, meaning there are plenty of screen plays and quick passes in this offense. Eddie Royal is a big benefactor of this, even with Kevin White in the picture. Royal received six targets in Week 1, and with how often the Bears are down he is likely to receive plenty of targets moving forward. He is a sneaky add especially in PPR leagues. He also punt-returns for the Bears in leagues that count those yards (As I type this, he runs back a punt for a TD).

Terrelle Pryor, WR, CLE - 23% owned on Fleaflicker

With Josh Gordon coming back into the picture soon, the Browns WR corps will be even more crowded. Last week it was Corey Coleman getting all the buzz with his two scores, but it was Terrelle Pryor who led the team in targets in Week 2 with 10. He could have had a more productive day than his three catch 32-yard performance, but he had a catch called back due to taunting. Based on volume alone, Pryor is worth a speculative add. He is a work in progress as a WR, but if the Browns QBs (whoever it ends up being moving forward) keep throwing his way, he is bound to produce.

Kenny Britt, WR, STL - 15 % owned on Fleaflicker

Recommend a Rams WR to pick up? Seriously? I need to specify that this is a deep, DEEP league pickup. Kenny Britt has led the Rams WRs in production so far this season, leading the team with 10 receptions (on 16 targets, second to Tavon Austin) for 161 yards through two games. With Case Keenum at the helm, you can’t expect world-breaking stats from Britt, but he should have some serviceable games moving forward as a bye week filler or injury stop-gap. I would not recommend playing Britt, but in a tight spot he won’t kill you.

More Options: Anquon Boldin, DET (41%), Cole Beasley, DAL (15%), Eli Rogers, PIT (33%), Chris Hogan (35% owned), Sammie Coates, PIT (31%), Jermaine Kearse (5% owned), Danny Amendola (6% owned), Devin Funchess (45% owned)

That’s all for this week folks, hope you get everyone you claim! For all your WR waiver wire questions, read these articles each week and get at me on twitter @Ben_Ruppert_21. I am more than happy to lend a hand to hungry fantasy owners!
