When Will Omarion Hampton Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 11 (2025)

Omarion Hampton - Fantasy Football Rankings, Rookie RB Draft Sleepers

When will Omarion Hampton return and play? Will Omarion Hampton be back again this season? Read the latest Omarion Hampton injury updates and return date for Week 11 (2025).

Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) didn't play in Week 10. It's now the fifth consecutive game he's missed due to the ankle injury he suffered in Week 5.

Hampton's rookie season came to a grinding (temporary) halt when a defender awkwardly stepped on the back of his ankle and it twisted inwards too far. The likely diagnosis would have been high-ankle sprain, though that information was never publicly divulged by the Chargers organization.

Hampton racked up 314 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns and caught 20 passes for 136 yards in the five contests he played. But when will he return? And what's his fantasy football outlook when he comes back? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Omarion Hampton Injury Update

Hampton has yet to be activated off injured reserve or see his practice window open. The latest news we have from the Chargers is that he's likely to start practicing after the team's Week 12 bye. He also was seen on the sidelines of his team's Week 10 win without his walking boot, which was a fortunate surprise.

Hampton's ankle sprain seems to be of the more severe variety. It's possible there were some small fractures or more serious ligament tears than we normally see with high-ankle sprains. Often, players are able to return to play after just three or four weeks out with that injury.

The injury featured his ankle basically bending nearly 90 degrees rotationally. Painful stuff, and the human ankle simply isn't meant to do that, so it's not totally surprising that he's struggled through it. But there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

The bye week will give him extra time to heal. The big problem here is that we don't know if he'll actually play in Week 13, or if he'll have his practice window opened and miss more time. Projections indicate that Week 13 is his return date, as that's at least what the organization has indirectly hinted to.

Omarion Hampton Fantasy Football Outlook

When he comes back, he's a sure-fire must-start with league-winning potential. The injury to his backfield mate, Najee Harris (Achilles), seemed to have killed any desire by Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman to make this a committee backfield.

Early in the year, it looked like we were headed for some kind of timeshare between Hampton and Harris. But Harris is out for the season, and it's not unreasonable to think that Hampton is far more talented than third-string man Kimani Vidal, who's been filling in for him due to the injury.

Where Hampton shines is with his excellent contact balance, great play strength, ideal workhorse running back size of 220 pounds, and raw athleticism. He's a great accelerator, which is often enough to bust off long runs, even if he doesn't have track-level speed to finish all of them off like someone like De'Von Achane.

And the situation is awesome. The Chargers have a high-powered offense (usually) and have been great in the run game this year. Their OL's pass-protection skills are suspect, but they are good at moving bodies out of the way in the run game, which is good for Hampton, of course.

And perhaps with such poor OL play, they'll be more motivated to throw quick passes to Hampton out of the backfield and let him pick up extra yards for them. He has top-8 potential easily when he returns. Any game he's healthy he should not be benched in fantasy football.
