Let's find some sizzle on the waiver wire with June finally on our doorstep. The closer carousels continue turning, exciting promotions keep getting announced, and slumps are getting busted. With so much to navigate, let's get together and look for who can help fantasy managers as things heat up!
We'll go around the horn to try to hit players who are seeing buzz right now, as well as those who may be "post-hype" waiver options. Many won't be able to keep up that surge that puts them onto radars in the first place, and then are cast aside for the next shiny new toy, despite having plenty to offer for patient managers. Let's mull it all over with my waiver wire targets for Week 10.
We'll use Yahoo rostered rates up to 40%, listing players in an approximate priority order (check our full waiver article for up to 70% rostered!). Please note that most statistics are gathered before Saturday's games, though I'll catch key news and happenings as I write. You can find me on X (@NMariano53) to ask me anything else that stands between you and the title!
Nick's Hitter Waiver Wire Targets
Catcher: Gabriel Moreno (35% rostered), Jimmy Crooks (2%), Alejandro Kirk (24%), Keibert Ruiz (19%), Tyler Stephenson (5%), Victor Caratini (2%), Daniel Susac (2%), Francisco Alvarez (15%), Carson Kelly (0%), Edgar Quero (1%), Adrian Del Castillo (0%)
Moreno is hitting well of late, though you won’t get more than 4-5 games a week out of him at this juncture. Arizona is okay with giving him some rest and letting Aramis Garcia handle things, and we accept that since he’s thrown three steals into the mix over the last three weeks, hitting .372 with a 177 wRC+ over his last 11 games.
Kirk is still working back, and Alvarez may also start a rehab assignment this coming week, though his 2026 leaves much to be desired. Keep an eye on his form in case there is a reset button to be struck.
Stephenson is a long way from our circle of trust, yet we can’t ignore a 6-for-15 mini-streak with his fourth homer of the year. Perhaps a few postponed games freshened up the form? Maybe he saw us chatting about Alfredo Duno, who clobbered a 483-foot shot that went viral this week?
Crooks is probably the best widely available dart throw, as the Cards have indicated he’ll get lots of time at catcher. He earned the call-up with 13 homers and a .262/.412/.567 slash line over 39 Triple-A tilts, giving him enough pop to be fantasy viable.
#STLCards catcher Jimmy Crooks will be elevated to the club’s No. 2 catcher. Iván Herrera will continue to catch Andre Pallante and Michael McGreevy and Crooks will get at least two starts. The starter for the other rotation turn will remain fluid.
Pedro Pagès now at No. 3.

Those further into the deep end are stuck hoping to buoy their batting average with Mickey Gasper or seeking more playing time for either Edgar Quero or Drew Romo in Chicago. Adrian Del Castillo has hit fourth or fifth in all but one of Arizona’s last five games, with ADC enjoying a stretch of right-handed pitching.
