NFL Draft Recap: Chicago Bears 2023 NFL Draft Outlook

Roschon Johnson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

How did the Chicago Bears do in the 2023 NFL Draft? Which rookies will have a major fantasy impact in 2023? Lance Fernandez breaks down the 2023 Chicago Bears draft class.

The Chicago Bears ended up with ten selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. Their most notable move was trading down from the number one overall pick to number nine. They made one more transaction to land at number 10.

Three of their first four picks were on defense. Ultimately, the Bears spent seven of their 10 picks on that side of the ball. They also took some skill position players to beef up their rotation.

Let's take a look at the Chicago Bears' 2023 draft class!

Noah Sewell goes up against his brother

The Sewell brothers will face each other at least twice a year. Noah will try to attack the Detroit Lions quarterback, while Penei will attempt to keep him away. Although it isn’t quite the reunion they wanted, the brothers will give their best against each other.

Penei has something to prove as one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL. Meanwhile, Noah was a Second Team All-Pac-12 last year. He played three years at Oregon, finishing with 218 tackles (20.5 for losses), 7.5 sacks, and two interceptions.

However, the younger Sewell will have to compete for minutes in the stacked Bears linebacker rotation, featuring Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards, and Dylan Cole.

Bears hoping to improve their run defense

The Bears ranked 31st in rushing yards allowed per game last season. That deficiency made them the worst defensive team regarding points allowed per game (27.2).

They are trying to address that concern by drafting three defensive tackles. The Bears hope that Dexter, Pickens, and Bell can clog the lanes to leave no space for running backs. Their fans are in for a treat if they can disrupt the offensive line and chase the quarterback.

Chicago Bears 2023 NFL Draft grade

The Bears get a B for their 2023 draft class. Considering they have a starting quarterback in Justin Fields, trading down was a good decision. But it remains to be seen if they got the guys that will help him thrive. Stopping the other team from scoring indirectly helps the Bears' offense. Therefore, it is a make-or-break class for a struggling franchise.
