Legit Breakouts or Flukes? TreVeyon Henderson, Jalen Nailor, Dillon Gabriel Fantasy Football Outlooks

TreVeyon Henderson - Fantasy Football Rookie Rankings, RB Draft Sleepers

John's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 11 of 2025. Are the breakout performances from TreVeyon Henderson, Jalen Nailor, Dillon Gabriel legit or flukes?

Breakout performances can happen at any time in the season. Players who most fantasy managers thought were busts, or at least not quite as talented as they suspected early in the season, can put up big numbers in specific games based on a variety of factors.

Injuries to other players on their team at the same position, increased usage based on game script, or the coaches simply wanting to get the ball in that player's hands more are all reasons why this can happen. Regardless, we shouldn't completely ignore them.

Using your waiver pickups on them makes sense sometimes if they're available in your leagues. But perhaps you are rostering some of the players who had big games. New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson, Minnesota Vikings WR Jalen Nailor, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel all just had their biggest games of the season. But were they legitimate or flukes? Let's dive in!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Was TreVeyon Henderson's Performance Legit Or A Fluke?

Henderson rushed 14 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns and caught one pass for three yards in an effort that easily doubled his previous highest PPR fantasy point total this year. He racked up 28.0 PPR fantasy points and finished as one of the most productive RBs of the week.

This is likely seen by most fantasy managers as a breakout game and indicative of elite potential moving forward. And he does have the softest schedule remaining for any RB in the NFL in terms of fantasy points allowed to RBs. But injuries were a major driver of his production this week.

They finally got Henderson on the edge and in space, and it worked out well. That's where he excelled in college. He didn't have much success anywhere else because he's not a good runner between the tackles. Both the data and film back this up.

His other touchdown run was in between the tackles, but he had a big hole opened up for him by the offensive line. That isn't something you can count on every week. How he performs moving forward will depend on how often the team can get him in space to work.

His mostly disappointing 2025 season so far isn't just a fluke, and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel doesn't hate him. He just has zero utility running between the tackles in the long run because he's among the worst RBs in the NFL at running into the A and B gaps.

Henderson's big plays this year have come on outside runs and receptions where he's been given an ocean of space to run through. That doesn't mean that he can't succeed, but he's unlikely to become a season-long workhorse, and touchdowns might be hard to come by when he's not put in space.

Week 11 Outlook: Start In All Leagues (every other Patriots RB is hurt)

Was Jalen Nailor's Performance Legit Or A Fluke?

In quarterback J.J. McCarthy's second game back from the ankle sprain that knocked him out of play for five games, Nailor inexplicably massively outproduced his team's WR1 and WR2, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, respectively. While Jefferson earned 12 targets and McCarthy threw it to Addison 11 times, Nailor only saw six targets.

It's what he did with those that was impressive, though. He caught five of them for 124 yards and a touchdown. The biggest offensive pass plays of the week went to Nailor. Jefferson managed just 37 receiving yards, while Addison finished with 35.

Nailor has flashed excellent athleticism and a genuine ability to separate from coverage this season. He's just too far down the depth chart to have consistent week-to-week value. If you're in dynasty leagues, you might consider trading for him in hopes that he lands in a better situation.

It would be wise to wait it out and see what happens, though. He's likely to get a pretty solid payday once this season is over, as he's on the final year of his rookie contract, and Minnesota already has to pay Jefferson. It'll also have to pay Addison a lot of money if it wants to keep him. He's been great so far.

Nailor's value in redraft is limited, but you could grab him in very deep leagues and stash him on the bench.

Week 11 Outlook: Stash in 14+ Team Leagues

Was Dillon Gabriel's Performance Legit Or A Fluke?

Gabriel had his first game with 20 or more PPR fantasy points as a pro in Week 10 against the New York Jets. He completed 17 of his 32 pass attempts for 167 yards and two touchdowns and rushed five times for 54 yards in the win.

The rushing upside was a bit of a surprise, as it's not something we've seen much of from Gabriel this year. But it propped up his low passing totals, which have been a thing in his rookie season. Cleveland doesn't have much pass-catching talent to lean on.

The Browns are a terrible team with a terrible roster, and it's not much of a surprise that their third-round rookie QB isn't doing well. But he deserves plenty of blame for his bad performances because he's one of the least accurate quarterbacks in the league.

Cleveland appears to be punting this season away. The Browns need a QB, as they don't have a long-term answer at the position. Perhaps we'll see Shedeur Sanders at some point, but the hype around him never matched his level of play. He's a massive liability under pressure. Having the Biletnikoff Award winner on his team in college helped make him look serviceable.

Regardless, Gabriel doesn't seem to have a ton of upside, but you can roster him in 2QB leagues where every starting signal-caller should probably be on a roster. Other than that, it's hard to see how he can be a trustworthy start.
