DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily Fantasy College Football (11/5/21)

Mike Marteny's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for 11/5/21. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win big.

Our Friday night is only two games, but it features four power five teams. That means more well-known teams and it will make it a little harder to differentiate your lineups. That's where I'll try to help.

We start off in the former Big East, now ACC tilt with the Hokies climbing Chestnut Hill. We finish off on the Pac 12 with Utah heading to Palo Alto to take on the Cardinal (don't you dare add that "s").

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 11/5/21 locking at 7:30 pm eastern. I’ll be providing multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option apiece at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. DraftKings CFB DFS Quarterbacks

Cameron Rising, Utah ($8,000)

When it comes down to it, only Virginia Tech has a below average pass defense. The other three on this slate are pretty tough. Stanford's is the next-worst, but they are still in the top half of FBS in pass defense. Rising has been efficient, but not spectacular. The only team that was able to force him into interceptions was Arizona State. The only team that kept him out of the end zone was Washington State. That's a solid track record. Rising has at least 24 DraftKings points in four straight games. That kind of consistency means more on a smaller slate like this.

Braxton Burmeister, Virginia Tech ($6,400)

I can't bring myself to use Dennis Grosel. Come on. The dude has 93 passing yards against Syracuse. So second billing goes to Burmeister and his rushing ability. Only Missouri was able to top 300 passing yards against the Eagles. They held Syracuse to just 65 last week. The BC defense has picked off more passes than they've allowed for touchdowns through the air. This is definitely not a smash spot, but Burmeister has 268 rushing yards on the season. There's potential there even if the Eagles shut him down in the pass game.

Also consider: Tanner McKee, Stanford ($6,700); Dennis Grosel, Boston College ($5,400)

DraftKings CFB DFS Running Backs

Tavion Thomas, Utah ($8,200)

Though the Stanford defense has been solid, they have had their issues stopping the run. Only Washington failed to score a rushing touchdown on them this year despite running for 229 yards. Only USC and Washington State failed to clear 200 rushing yards against the Cardinal. This is a team that played Vanderbilt! The Cardinal have done their job through the air. Some of that has to do with teams being able to run on them. Thomas is in for a pretty heavy workload here. His streak of games with 14 or more DraftKings points should get to five in this one.

Pat Garwo III, Boston College ($5,300)

The Hokies have had issues stopping the run all year. Boston College has had issues throwing the ball since Phil Jurkovec went down. This is a great place for Boston College here. Garwo had a tough time finding yards against Syracuse and Louisville, but they will be plentiful here. The Hokies have allowed at least 160 rushing yards in six straight games with ten touchdowns allowed on the ground in that span.

Raheem Blackshear, Virginia Tech ($4,900)

Thomas may have taken over the larger share of the work in the Virginia Tech backfield, but Blackshear still has double-digit carries in each of the last two games and has caught at least one pass in every game this season. He hasn't found the end zone since week 6 against Notre Dame, but he is still getting enough touches to do very well for the price. Thomas has more upside, but Blackshear performing so well behind Thomas might also mean a shorter leash if Thomas struggles.

Also consider: Malachi Thomas, Virginia Tech ($6,600); Austin Jones, Stanford ($6,100); T.J. Pledger, Utah ($4,900)

 

DraftKings CFB DFS Wide Receivers

Tre Turner, Virginia Tech ($7,000)

Turner had a game for the ages last weekend with a season-high seven receptions and a career-high 187 yards. He now leads the Hokies in receiving by almost 300 yards. If you need a Virginia Tech receiver, it should be Turner. Even if you don't need one, Turner is a viable option. His ceiling might be the highest of any player at any position.

Benjamin Yurosek, Stanford ($6,800)

Yurosek has been by far the leading receiver since Brycen Tremaine went down against Oregon. The tight end doesn't have game-breaking ability, but he has at least five receptions and at least 90 yards in the three games post-Tremaine. If Tanner McKee is forced to miss this game, Yurosek may take on an even larger role for Jack West to get him comfortable in the game.

Britain Covey, Utah ($4,400)

Covey is what he has always been: a fast guy who can break a game wide open. He's not logging zeroes as a DFS player this year so he is less of a risk than usual. The Utes have never really seemed to figure out how to use Covey since he first arrived on campus in Salt Lake City back in 2015. This year they are at least throwing him short passes to see if he can break one. That makes him a strong GPP dart, but he's too risky for cash games.

Michael Wilson, Stanford ($3,700)

Wilson could be exactly what Stanford needs right now with Tremaine out. The Cardinal have said that he will see his first game action of 2021 and there is no word of snap counts or anything like that. Wilson caught 56 passes for 672 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. He also led the Cardinal in receptions in the truncated 2020 season. I'm a little worried about him and McKee not being on the same page, but Wilson is very cheap for what he is capable of.

Also consider: Brant Kuithe, Utah ($6,500); Zay Flowers, Boston College ($5,900); Tayvion Robinson, Virginia Tech ($4,800); CJ Lewis, Boston College ($3,200)
