MLB Power Rankings: Where Do All 30 Teams Stand After One Week Of Play? (2026)

Freddie Freeman - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, MLB News

RotoBaller's MLB power rankings for all 30 teams in early April. Where does each MLB team stand in our latest power rankings for the 2026 season?

With another week of MLB action in the books, we're starting to get a bit of a clearer picture of who's who this season. The top few teams look just about how we expected, and the same goes for the bottom-feeders.

But the middle of the pack has a whole bunch of question marks, as expected. Should Red Sox fans be worried about their slow start? What about the Giants and their offensive woes? Could the Marlins actually be for real?

We tackle it all in this week's power rankings. Read on to find out where your team ranks this week.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

No. 30 - Colorado Rockies

The Rockies opened the week looking like a team that actually may be solid by taking two of three from the Blue Jays. That series and their series against the Marlins were all relatively close games.

But that unraveled with Philadelphia visiting Coors as the Rockies were down 7-0 in their home opener before even taking an at-bat. There's still a lot to be done in Colorado, but there's at least a slight hope that they may be able to scrape together a better record than they posted in 2025.

No. 29 - Washington Nationals

It's hard to win games when your pitching staff is throwing to a 6.04 ERA, but that's what Washington is being tasked with right now. The offense is at least showing they're up to the task, posting a 124 wRC+ this early on. But so far, that hasn't been enough.

CJ Abrams is doing his part with 12 RBI coming into Sunday's action, while Joey Wiemer is the team's best hitter, posting a 370 wRC+ with a 22.7% BB% in his first 22 PA of the season. At the very least, Nationals fans can be excited when their team's at the plate. Just don't pay attention whenever that pitching staff takes the mound.

No. 28 - Chicago White Sox

When you're watching the White Sox at the plate, you'll notice that they're striking out a lot right now, but they also look like they may just have something cooking if a few more things start going right. There's power in those left-handed bats, and they can be pesky. Just ask Dylan Cease.

But similar to Washington, the pitching is abysmal and will be the reason Chicago likely won't be able to make a surprising wild-card run. Their staff's 7.01 ERA is the worst in the league in this young season. Chicago's more focused on development this season, but they'd love to see more improvement on the mound to feel better about this rebuild.

No. 27 - Minnesota Twins

Minnesota may have cracked the code. I am, of course, talking about how to win trades with the Rays, a task once viewed as impossible. A few years ago, they were able to snag Joe Ryan from Tampa's system, and now it looks like they may have found a gem with Taj Bradley after trading for him last season.

The 25-year-old has racked up 12 Ks in his first two starts and has only yielded one earned run. Bradley's history in Tampa was a bit streaky as a pitcher, so there's a long way to go, but Minnesota looks to have found themselves a solid one-two punch in their rotation thanks to Tampa.

No. 26 - Los Angeles Angels

If there's anything we learned Saturday night, it's simply don't hit the ball to Jo Adell. Not someone who's traditionally known for his glove, he robbed three Mariners' homers in the same game on Saturday. Important to note, that was a 1-0 Angels victory that could have very easily been 3-1 Mariners if not for Adell's efforts.

That should help light a spark for the Angels. But do they have enough to put together a truly competitive season after selling pieces in the offseason? They haven't fared well in the past, but maybe this year can be different with a little more, well, a lot more luck.

No. 25 - St. Louis Cardinals

It's not uncommon for teams near the bottom of our rankings to be struggling with pitching, and the Cardinals find themselves in that same boat to start the season. They're posting a 5.18 ERA to start the season, and the offense's 90 wRC+ hasn't been enough to overcome that.

Somehow, they're still right around that .500 mark that you normally expect the Cardinals to be year in and year out. That may be a great sign for optimistic St. Louis fans, but the big question will be how long they're able to sustain this type of record if neither the hitting nor the pitching improves.

No. 24 - San Francisco Giants

The Giants are simply happy that they're finally scoring some runs. The Yankees nearly shut them out throughout three games in the entire series, but the offense has started to click some against the Mets.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help when the pitching starts to dissipate. The Mets' bats generally got what they wanted over the weekend, while Nolan McLean looked like he had an outside shot at a perfect game on Friday night. PECOTA is still confident in the Giants getting to .500, but the initial looks of things don't seem that positive for San Fran.

No. 23 - Athletics

It's starting to look a whole lot like last year's A's team. If you're not careful, that lineup is going to obliterate you, just as they did to Cristian Javier of the Astros on Friday. On the flipside, when they're not careful on the mound, they're going to get smashed as the Astros did to them on Saturday.

2025 Rookie of the Year Nick Kurtz has struggled to get going this season, posting just a 23 wRC+ and no homers coming into Sunday's action. If the A's want more fun games, then they're going to need to get his bat rolling.

No. 22 - Tampa Bay Rays

The best part of the week for Tampa was simply Shane McClanahan returning to action. The southpaw hadn't pitched since 2024 and was able to notch four Ks in 4.2 IP on Tuesday. If nothing else, Rays baseball is better when McClanahan is able to toe the rubber.

On the offensive side of things, Yandy Diaz is looking fantastic, hitting for a 240 wRC+. Chandler Simpson is right behind him with a 178 wRC+. But that hasn't translated into many wins for Tampa yet. It's weird to see a Tampa team that's not expected to compete for the playoffs, but that's what we're looking at currently with these Rays.

No. 21 - Arizona Diamondbacks

The DBacks usually find some way to make themselves pesky every season, whether that be surprisingly stingy pitching or a lineup that consistently finds a way to put an overwhelming amount of balls in play that do damage. But the first two weeks are showing us a different version of the DBacks we haven't seen in some time.

The offense is hitting for just a 78 wRC+ while the pitching staff has a rather uninspiring 4.73 ERA. Currently, they're sitting around .500, and you may think that means there's only room to go up, but on the flipside, it could mean some of these wins have been lucky. We'll have to wait and see what it means for Arizona.

No. 20 - Pittsburgh Pirates

Could Pittsburgh actually be on the right track? Like, are they finally going to be competitive for the first time since 2013-2015? They're now 6-3 after sweeping the Orioles and are on a five-game winning streak, and maybe there's some reason for hope.

The offense has a 105 wRC+ while the pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA. FanGraphs currently has them projected for around 84 wins and a 32.3% chance to win the division, the best odds in the NL Central and just a smidge ahead of the Brewers.

Count me as skeptical until proven otherwise, given that this is the Pittsburgh Pirates, but things are looking upwards at PNC Park for now.

No. 19 - Texas Rangers

There's a heat wave rolling through Arlington right now that's simply the radiating aura of Brandon Nimmo, who's been on a scorcher to start the season for the Rangers. He's hitting for a 1.019 OPS in 36 AB for Texas, simply doing everything the Rangers need him to do.

The Rangers' lineup as a whole is hitting just above league average while the pitching has been fairly strong, posting a 3.80 ERA. Not bad early-season marks for Texas that should eventually turn their near .500 record into more wins.

No. 18 - Baltimore Orioles

There was a bit of offseason hype coming into this season with the Orioles after their offseason acquisitions, but so far, it's leaving a bit to be desired. They're now just 3-6 to start the season, which obviously isn't a death knell, but it's not the way you'd want to start in an AL East division that's rather stacked.

The lineup has actually hit above league average with a 107 wRC+, and the pitching has been alright with a 4.22 ERA. So more wins will come, but things need to improve regardless for Baltimore if they want to find themselves in a competitive playoff race come September.

No. 17 - Cleveland Guardians

If the Chase DeLauter jerseys aren't already sold out at Progressive Field, then Guardian fans are doing something wrong. The rookie has five longballs on the season already after his ridiculous opening weekend, and the Guardians have gotten out to a pretty decent start.

But many others on the offense haven't been able to match his pace as the Guardians are posting just an 87 wRC+. The pitching is holding in decently, but we really want to see that offense improve for Cleveland. That will be key for them if they want to make a run at the AL Central for the third year in a row.

No. 16 - Miami Marlins

The NL East is full of contenders with the Phillies, Braves, and Mets. But are we ready to add the Marlins to that list? Miami has been surprisingly strong to start the season, though maybe that has something to do with the fact that they started the season off against the Rockies and White Sox.

Still, that shouldn't negate the impressive start at the plate from Xavier Edwards, whose bat-to-ball skills have him hitting for a .467 BA and a 226 wRC+. Sandy Alcantara is also looking like his dominant self on the mound. He hasn't allowed a single run this season and threw a complete game shutout against Chicago this week.

Miami may not end up being a threat when all is said and done, but they're certainly a team to keep an eye on for now.

No. 15 - San Diego Padres

The Padres got their first series win of the year over the Red Sox in Boston this weekend, and maybe that's what this team needs to get rolling. Outside of Sunday, they've only scored more than three runs once.

Fernando Tatis Jr., Jackson Merrill, Xander Bogaerts, and Jake Cronenworth all have been struggling mightily at the plate. Given they're four of the five batters with the most PAs for the Padres, that can't continue to happen. The Padres have power and efficiency; they just need to find it in order to start stacking up wins.

No. 14 - Boston Red Sox

Maybe there's no more concerning start for a team that could be counted as a contender than the one in Boston. The Red Sox are just 2-7 to start the season, and that's not going to cut it for a roster that was a game away from making the ALDS last season. This ranking obviously shows more confidence in their roster than their record, but there's plenty to worry about.

The offense has just an 87 wRC+ while the pitching has a 4.28 ERA. Wilyer Abreu is the only player on the roster who's hit multiple HRs this season. Both hitting and pitching need to be improved for Boston to start racking up wins. Otherwise, it's not going to be a fun season out at Fenway.

No. 13 - Kansas City Royals

The Royals came into the season as the second-best threat in the AL Central and ready to take the division if the Tigers slipped up. But so far they've been a bit underwhelming. Maybe some of that's thanks to facing the Braves and Brewers, but a more solid start would have been nice.

Maikel Garcia has continued his solid WBC performance, posting a 140 wRC+. Jac Caglianone has backed him with a 148 wRC+. But Bobby Witt Jr. has not been his MVP-level self, posting just a 59 wRC+ so far. When he steps it up, then KC will be fine, but it's going to be tough if his elite-level bat doesn't get going.

No. 12 - Cincinnati Reds

Coming off a weekend sweep of the Texas Rangers, the Reds are rolling. They've started the season 6-3, and fans have to be feeling ecstatic, especially after they made some splashy signings in the offseason.

But it shouldn't come without some worry. The offense has been weak, posting just a 78 wRC+. The pitching staff has been solid with a 3.53 ERA, but some of the underlying stats suggest that's a bit lucky. They've got enough on their roster to succeed, but the next few weeks will test just how much of this early-season success is luck.

No. 11 - Chicago Cubs

The Cubs came into this season as the favorite to win the NL Central, yet if you look at the standings, they're currently sitting in last place. That may not be true to who they really are this year, but it's plenty of reason to start worrying.

In addition to their early struggles, they lost pitcher Cade Horton Friday night due to right forearm tightness. That's not a great sign for any pitcher and usually points to more eventual problems down the road. Chicago will do all it can to keep their 24-year-old starter healthy, but that will likely mean an open spot in the rotation for some time.

The Cubs have plenty of time to get back in control, but this is not the start they envisioned.

No. 10 - Seattle Mariners

Give your Mariners fan friends a hug because they, too, got robbed by Adell on Saturday night. Cal Raleigh, Josh Naylor, and J.P. Crawford all had chances to go yard for the first time until Adell brought their longballs back. An extra-innings loss on Sunday afternoon didn't help things out either.

Additionally, newly acquired Brendan Donovan is dealing with a groin issue and has missed the Mariners' last two games. That's not ideal for a Mariners team that envisioned winning the AL West for the second straight season. They've got a lot of potential, but there's a lot to fix here out of the gates.

No. 9 - Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies saw their nice four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday in a loss to the Rockies, but they made their presence felt early in that series. Their seven-run first inning on Friday put them in full control of the Rockies' home opener from the start.

They also continue to receive good news on Zack Wheeler, who looks to be set to return to the Phillies' rotation at some point in April. Philadelphia has been a mainstay in the playoffs over the past four seasons, and Wheeler has been a huge reason for that. His return will be a massive boost for a franchise that will be looking to make a deep run yet again.

No. 8 - Detroit Tigers

The Tigers have a very important season on hand, given that how it plays out early will likely determine their eventual steps with Tarik Skubal and his future with the franchise. So while starting out 4-5 on the season isn't the worst, it's not what you want if you're someone who'd like to see Skubal stay in Detroit for the rest of his career.

Maybe the schedule is to blame, as they've only played three of their nine games at home. Being on the road consistently is tough, but the Tigers will have to get ready for more as they head to Minnesota on Monday for another four-game series on the road.

No. 7 - Toronto Blue Jays

The rule is that if you lose a series to the 2026 Colorado Rockies, then you must drop in my rankings. That's just what it is. Follow that up with a sweep at the hands of the White Sox? Well, now we've got some different concerns we need to evaluate.

The offense seemed to be rather stagnant this week, averaging just three runs per game. With the firepower they have at the plate, that's incredibly underwhelming. The AL champs have a lot in the tank, but they're going to be held back if they can swing it effectively.

No. 6 - New York Mets

It was almost a special night on Friday when McLean was on the mound. The 24-year-old took a perfect game into the sixth inning and recorded the win in a 10-3 win over the Giants. That helped New York take the four-game series from San Francisco and get them on the right track.

But not all is perfect in Queens. Juan Soto was removed from Friday's game with an injury that was later diagnosed as a right calf strain. They say that they're taking it day-to-day, but strains like that can take time to properly heal. They'll certainly be cautious with their $765 million man, meaning the lineup will have some extra work to do in his absence.

No. 5 - Atlanta Braves

Despite the injuries to the pitching staff, Atlanta is looking impressive to start this season. And, for the most part, it's being driven by their pitching. Coming into Sunday, their pitching staff had a league-best 1.58 ERA. No matter what the offense is doing, that's going to win you a lot of games.

Speaking of the offense, they're hitting for a 117 wRC+ right now. Much of that is thanks to a 17-run parade they put on Arizona earlier in the week, but they're still doing enough to be successful at the plate. There's more to prove, but Atlanta's starting off with the bounce-back season they desperately needed.

No. 4 - Houston Astros

Speaking of bounce-back seasons, Houston was in need of one after a disappointing 2025. They're starting out hot, posting a 6-4 record with the league's best offense putting up a 151 wRC+. Though they lost in extras on Sunday, it marked the sixth time that they've scored eight runs or more this season.

Yordan Alvarez has been a huge driving force for the Astros' offensive success, posting a 286 wRC+ with a 25.6% BB%. After an injury-filled season in 2025, Alvarez is looking like his best self in 2026.

No. 3 - Milwaukee Brewers

You simply can't doubt the Milwaukee Brewers anymore. At 7-2, they lead the NL Central and are looking every bit the part of a contender that can take down the Dodgers in the playoffs. Their 130 wRC+ ranks fourth in the league while the pitching staff's 3.17 ERA ranks fifth. It's always great to be in the top five in anything!

The offense is clicking throughout the lineup, too. Brice Turang, William Contreras, Christian Yelich, Garrett Mitchell, and David Hamilton are all hitting for a wRC+ of 120 or greater, giving them a lineup that doesn't have any holes in it. Milwaukee may have caught some off-guard last season, but that won't happen this year.

No. 2- New York Yankees

Another team with a dominant start, the Yankees are off to a 7-2 start. Up until their last couple of games against Miami, their pitching staff hadn't given up more than three runs in a game. That type of dominant pitching is going to make it very easy to win games.

On the offensive side of things, Ben Rice and Giancarlo Stanton have been the main drivers of success, though it's Rice who's providing power while Stanton is surprisingly supplying it via batting average. The Yankees are starting off the season in a great spot.

No. 1 - Los Angeles Dodgers

Our top team again is the Dodgers, coming in with the league's second-best offense (134 wRC+) and seventh-best pitching staff (3.50 ERA). The offense got back on track this week in Washington with multiple double-digit offensive outputs.

But there's a bit of concern for one of their mainstays as Mookie Betts just went on the IL with an oblique strain. That could keep Betts out for around four to six weeks. He'll unfortunately miss the World Series rematch in Toronto, but that's going to be alright with LA if it means he'll be healthy later in the season.

The Dodgers are our top seed yet again, but New York and Milwaukee are hot on their heels.
