Week 12 Fantasy Football Running Back Outlooks
Devin Singletary, New York Giants
New York Giants running back Devin Singletary has narrowly outscored Tyrone Tracy Jr. over the past two weeks, with Cam Skattebo (ankle) out for the season. Singletary looks like he has earned the goal line work and ranks as the RB15 in the past two games with 28 PPR points, compared to Tracy as RB19 with 26 points. Tracy has the clear edge in touches (38 to 28), but Singletary has handled all nine running back carries inside the 10-yard line and scored two touchdowns.
The 28-year-old is the more trusted player in protection and has earned the high-value touches, seeing the goal line work and maintaining a relatively close split in route share. Both of their upside for fantasy will be limited in a committee, but Singletary looks like he could be the higher-scoring back the rest of the way.
James Cook, Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills running back James Cook III is set to face a tough Houston Texans' defense on Thursday night that has allowed just 87.1 rushing yards per game, which ranks third in the NFL. It could be tough sledding for Cook on Thursday against a stout Texans defense, but he remains a must-start in Week 12.
Cook is averaging 115.8 scrimmage yards per game and has produced eight touchdowns over 10 contests. The 26-year-old back is enjoying his best season, and the Bills are sure to feature Cook on Thursday. Look for another strong showing and RB1 potential for Cook this week. Despite the brutal matchup, Cook should be in all fantasy lineups and is ranked 11th among all running backs for Week 12.
Bam Knight, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight (ankle) was listed as a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about the ankle issue right now. However, Knight could be losing playing time soon with Trey Benson (knee) having his practice window opened this week.
The eventual return of Benson is going to cloud up this backfield situation even more. Right now, Emari Demercado (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 12. That means Knight and Michael Carter should split up the reps unless Benson returns this week. Barring any setbacks, Knight figures to be out there this weekend, but his fantasy value is unclear at the moment.
Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday due to an ankle injury that he suffered late in the Week 11 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Backfield mate Travis Etienne Jr. (shoulder) was also injured on Sunday, which likely played a part in Tuten's career day. The 23-year-old had season-highs across the board in snap percentage (32%), rushing attempts (15), and rushing yards (74) while scoring his third touchdown of the year.
Etienne and Tuten appear to be trending toward both playing this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, but Tuten's impressive performance against the Bolts might have earned him a bigger share of the backfield pie going forward. Tuten is only rostered in 37% of Yahoo leagues, so he's widely available and is worth a pickup with another good matchup on tap.
Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. (shoulder) is on the Week 12 injury report and was limited in Wednesday's practice with a shoulder injury. Both Etienne and Bhayshul Tuten (ankle) are a little banged up coming out of Sunday's blowout win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but the fact that they were both able to practice on Wednesday is a good sign that they will be available this weekend on the road in Arizona against the Cardinals.
Tuten played a season-high 32% of the offensive snaps in Week 11 and carried the ball a season-high 15 times for 74 yards and a touchdown, but that may have had something to do with Etienne's shoulder injury. Etienne played a season-low 49% of snaps but still saw 19 carries for 73 yards and two touchdowns in a run-heavy game script. The two backs could have more of an even split in another plus matchup in Week 12 against the Cardinals if they are active.
Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) is still dealing with an ankle issue coming out of the team's bye and was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday, according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN. Kamara has been a mainstay on the team's injury report ever since injuring his ankle in early October, but he hasn't missed any games. The 30-year-old's status bears watching heading into a Week 12 game this Sunday against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons, but he should be able to suit up.
Negative game script certainly hasn't helped Kamara's cause in 2025, as he's averaging a career-low 3.6 yards per tote on 128 rushing attempts for 460 yards and just one touchdown in 10 games. The five-time Pro Bowler did have a season-high 22 carries for 83 yards on the ground in the Week 10 win over the Panthers, though. In a bad Saints offense, Kamara has become more of a high-end RB3/flex play.
