Should I pickup Darnell Mooney or David Sills V as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 12 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
The Atlanta Falcons lost both their starting quarterback and top wide receiver in Week 11 due to injuries. QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, and WR Drake London (knee) sprained his PCL and will miss time.
London won't play in Week 12, and from what we've seen from PCL sprains, they often lead to plenty of missed time. For example, San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall missed six games with his PCL sprain, and Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers needed four weeks of rest to return to play.
This means we'll likely see both Falcons WRs Darnell Mooney and Davis Sills V get more work. While Mooney has been a disappointment for fantasy football this season, and Sills has hardly played at all, that doesn't mean they can't be useful going forward. So should you pick up either on waivers?

Darnell Mooney Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Mooney hasn't done much at all this year unfortunately. It wasn't totally clear why he was having such a bad season initially, but we have a bit more context now, thankfully. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said in an interview that he broke his collarbone on the first play of training camp.
The team opted to simply call this a "shoulder" injury, and we were kept in the dark until just recently. So Mooney's lack of production makes a lot more sense. He's likely still dealing with pain and might not have full functionality in the arm that's affected.

And Mooney has had drop issues this season. I imagine playing through a broken clavicle could cause something like this to happen. Still, he'll be the team's WR1 for the foreseeable future, and he might actually get an upgrade at QB, at least for his purposes.
It was last year, with backup (and now starting) QB Kirk Cousins that Mooney was so much more productive. He was less involved in games that Penix started, though the sample size was small. Last season, Mooney was a genuine fantasy asset, and at one point, he was easily a top-10 fantasy WR.

Even in 12-team leagues, taking that kind of upside makes a ton of sense. The Falcons defense is at times good, at times completely inept, and last week, they allowed the Carolina Panthers to score 30 points on them for the second time. Their QB, Bryce Young, threw for 448 yards and three touchdowns. He rarely throws for more than 200 passing yards.
So they might have more games moving forward where they're forced to pass the ball heavily, which could lead to game scripts favorable for Mooney. He's worth an add if you need another potentially productive WR and are thin at the position.
David Sills V Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
It's hard to make any kind of upside case for Sills. It seems more likely that Atlanta's offense just struggles massively rather than Sills being fantasy relevant -- he hasn't been so at any point in his career. He's a depth piece, which is valuable for NFL teams, but not for fantasy football.
On the season, he has caught four of his nine targets for 39 yards. In his seven-year career so far, he has 17 receptions for 157 yards and zero touchdowns. He is listed as the WR3 on the Falcons depth chart, but the passing game has run through London, Mooney, running back Bijan Robinson, and tight end Kyle Pitts.

There's a long way to go from separating on a few routes to being an integral part of the passing game. We might be surprised, but it's likely that the three aforementioned players will get the majority of the passing game work.
Should I Pickup Darnell Mooney or David Sills V For Fantasy Football?
There isn't much reason at all to pick up Sills unless you're in a deep dynasty league and need a fill-in for London's injury, and don't have better options on your team. Mooney, however, immediately could be fantasy relevant despite struggling this season.
Even though he's likely playing through injury, he'll be the No. 1 target for a quarterback that was happy to heavily target him last season. Mooney's stats with London look eerily similar in many ways when you compare them side-by-side.

He's still a good route-runner and separator. He'd probably have been much better so far this year if he hadn't been dealing with injury. But he could thrive purely on passing volume and start getting some of the red zone looks, which have overwhelmingly gone to London so far.
The WR1 of all teams should be rostered every week, anyway. There are very few teams that don't have a fantasy relevant WR1. So Mooney is a good pickup.
