Should I start Tez Johnson, Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin for Week 11? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tez Johnson, Denver Broncos wideout Courtland Sutton, and his fellow Broncos WR Troy Franklin are three NFL WRs who have gotten significant playing time this season.
Each of them has had their stretches of good production in recent games, but that doesn't mean each should be a locked-in starter in fantasy football leagues all season.
It's worth it to analyze the situations of each player in detail to find out which are the best to start. There's a lot that goes into that, but we'll get into that in the meat of the article, so let's make start or sit decisions for Johnson, Sutton, and Franklin for Week 11 for fantasy football!

Should I Start Tez Johnson for Fantasy Football?
The biggest thing I try to do when I play fantasy football is chase upside. It's obviously easier to get your hands on the WR1 or WR2 of much poorer offenses. For example, in a lot of leagues, you probably could have grabbed Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
And he had a nice day in Week 10, turning a season-high 12 targets into six catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. It might seem like he's reclaimed the WR1 role for the Browns. But the bottom can fall out for bad offenses at any time, while good offenses have consistently high production.

Johnson caught four of his five targets for 42 yards and two touchdowns against the New England Patriots. While his role hasn't been substantial so far, he's making a strong case to get more playing time. His diminutive size likely keeps him off the field on running plays, but he should be in on all the passing downs.
He's a shifty player with the ball in his hands, a very sound route-runner, and he has underrated deep speed to get open downfield. He and Mayfield have barely missed connecting on what could have been several more big plays. He's a flex start against the Bills in Week 11.
WR Chris Godwin (fibula) might come back, which would downgrade him to a deep league flex for now, though. I have full faith that Johnson is an excellent receiver, as I was very impressed with his college film, but it might not be until next year that he gets consistent target volume.
Should I Start Courtland Sutton for Fantasy Football?
Both Sutton and the Broncos offense as a whole have been pretty ugly for fantasy football lately. Denver quarterback Bo Nix is struggling and played horribly against the Las Vegas Raiders. The culprit is him playing as if he's mortified of sacks, so much so that he's getting happy feet and throwing errant passes.
And Sutton appears to have lost his WR1 job to the player that used to be his backup, Troy Franklin. Sutton's been out-targeted, out-produced, and out-scored in the past three weeks by Franklin, and the splits are pretty stark. The Broncos will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.
Courtland Sutton's seen more defensive attention in last few weeks. Sean Payton brought this play up vs. Eagles yesterday.

Sutton has been commanding the attention of the defense as if he's the WR1. He's 30 years old, though, and struggles to separate, often relying on contested catches to get the job done. He's also averaged just over 9.1 PPR fantasy points per game the last five weeks. I'd play him only as a flex in 12-team leagues.
Should I Start Troy Franklin for Fantasy Football?
Franklin's ascension has come at the cost of Sutton's fall, but it makes him an intriguing fantasy option moving forward. It's hard to ignore 27 targets, 156 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in the last three games. And before that, he was targeted 10 times in a contest in which he had another touchdown.
Franklin continues to struggle with drops, but he's being used all over the field and is the highest-scoring Broncos pass-catcher of the last few weeks. That's pushed him into easy WR2 territory. And against the Chiefs, we could see Sutton continue to command the attention of their best defensive backs.
This should be a TD to Troy Franklin, but Nix is too busy panicking behind a clean pocket https://t.co/jXA0ZvHuTV pic.twitter.com/qehBb5vHJi

And if Nix can clean up his pocket awareness issues, Franklin could have an even higher ceiling. That remains to be seen, of course, but it's clear that Broncos head coach Sean Payton is designing an excellent offense. Franklin should be started as a boom-or-bust WR2 in Week 11.
