Is Travis Hunter out for the season? When is Travis Hunter coming back? The latest Travis Hunter injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 10 of 2025.
Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter (knee) was placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in practice ahead of his team's Week 9 game. The aliment was a surprise for fantasy football managers, as he had managed to stay healthy through all of the team's games up to that point.
Hunter looked to be on the verge of breaking out as a receiver, with his best performance coming in Week 8. He caught eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets against the Los Angeles Rams. Up to that point, he had only shown flashes.
It was his first double-digit PPR fantasy point outing of the year, and he looked to build on that. But his injury concerns are now casting doubt on that possibility. So will he be able to return this year or is he out for the season? Let's dive in.

Is Travis Hunter Out for the 2025 Season?
While there were major concerns early on about his season-long prognosis, medical testing confirmed that his ACL was intact. He was quickly placed on injured reserve, though, so he'll have to miss at least three more games before he can return. His earliest possible return will be in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans.
His injury is likely to keep him out for longer than that, though. We don't have information yet on what exactly his knee issue is, but it's safe to assume that given the speed he was placed on IR with, we can assume he'll miss a bit longer than six weeks.

Hunter's usage on both sides of the ball could make him more injury-prone moving forward. But he's at least very likely to return during the regular season.
Travis Hunter 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
Unfortunately, this injury throws a wrench in the plans for the Jaguars to make him the featured receiver in the offense. WR Brian Thomas Jr. (ankle), the presumptive WR1 heading into the season, has not been effective this year -- he's had a ton of terrible, high-profile drops and injury issues.
The team traded for WR Jakobi Meyers as well, adding even more talent to an already seemingly crowded wideout room. Now, Hunter will have to compete with Thomas, Meyers, Parker Washington, and Dyami Brown (concussion) for playing time.
It's possible the Jaguars want Meyers to help reduce the workload on Hunter moving forward. What looked like a clear onboarding ramp into a major role is now a murky outlook. It's simply hard to see how many opportunities he'll get moving forward.
Travis Hunter's 1 catch was for 21 yards, he fakes out 2 defenders and converts on a 1st and 20 and he doesn't get the ball for the rest of the game.

The coveted slot role is what we want him to have, ideally. When he's not playing, it will be Washington in that role, while Meyers and... well, someone else plays outside. We don't know if Thomas will be able to play yet. Thomas will probably be recovered from his ankle injury by the time Hunter comes back.
At that point, it will really depend how much he's deployed, and if the team reverses course on playing him on offense. I would lean towards No. 12 still being a prominent part of the passing game. He's the most talented receiver on the team. But it might get a bit hairy in terms of playing time.
You might as well keep him in your injured reserve spot for now. He has major upside that hasn't been tapped into yet. He should be a starter for fantasy down the stretch.
