Should I start Jauan Jennings, Jordan Addison, Deebo Samuel Sr. for Week 9? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ribs, ankle, shoulder), Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison, and Washington Commanders wideout Deebo Samuel Sr. are all right in the conversation for WR2 or WR3 status so far this season.
They're not quite top-12 players at their positions, but they've shown enough upside to be trusted in starting lineups so far in their healthy, non-decoy games. And while they're not the most exciting players to start, it's not like you can expect 20+ PPR points per game from everyone.
Start/sit decisions might not be tough depending on your roster, especially if a lot of your players are out on bye or injured this week, but in many leagues, you might have similar players that you're considering starting instead. So should you fire up Jennings, Addison, and Samuel this week? Let's dive in.

Should I Start Jauan Jennings for Fantasy Football?
Despite suffering from five broken ribs, a significantly compromised shoulder, and high and low ankle sprains, Jennings appeared to have reclaimed the WR1 role for the 49ers from fellow WR Kendrick Bourne over the last two weeks. Jennings has been targeted seven times each in Week 7 and Week 8.
He caught eight passes for 76 yards combined in those two contests and failed to score a touchdown. They were against two of the NFL's tougher defenses, though -- the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons, who have done an excellent job at suppressing the output of opposing wide receivers and quarterbacks this year.

Of course, without starting quarterback Brock Purdy (toe), Jennings' upside is much lower. And it looks like WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) will return to play for San Francisco this week, too, further diluting the target volume for Jennings. If Purdy doesn't play, I'd probably only start Jennings as a risky flex in leagues with 14 or more teams.
Should I Start Jordan Addison for Fantasy Football?
Addison is a hard player to project, especially so since quarterback Carson Wentz (shoulder) is now out for the season with a shoulder injury. He helped Addison maintain a steady start-worthy level of performance. Now, the highly inconsistent rookie, quarterback J.J. McCarthy, is set to return to play.
McCarthy has put together seven quarters of poor play broken only by a fourth-quarter miracle comeback against the Chicago Bears. To his credit, the Vikings offensive line has struggled massively so far, but whoever you want to blame, the passing offense has suffered as a result.
The #Steelers had a nearly 60% successful run rate Sunday. The offensive line was a huge part of that.
“They dominated the Vikings up front, beat the bricks out of them in pretty much every phase," one analyst said.

We've now seen multiple teams dunk on the Vikes OL, that's missing its starting center, starting left tackle, and starting right tackle. Their center won't play in Week 9, and it remains to be seen if their LT and RT will. Addison is a solid flex start nonetheless based on his talent alone, but there's a ton of risk.
Should I Start Deebo Samuel Sr. for Fantasy Football?
It doesn't look like we'll be seeing Commanders WR1 Terry McLaurin (quad) back on the field any time soon. He re-aggravated the quad injury he suffered in Week 3, which caused him to miss four games. Re-injuries often tend to be worse than the first, so that's bad news for him. We could see him placed on injured reserve in the coming days.
Now, Samuel will function as the team's WR1, likely for at least a few more weeks. And with quarterback Jayden Daniels (hamstring) logging a full practice on Thursday despite missing Week 8 with a hamstring injury, it looks like Samuel is once again a must-start fantasy asset.
Through five games, Deebo Samuel has totaled 30 catches, 300 receiving yards, 46 rushing yards and 4 TDs
He was great in LA today with 8/96/1 and is on pace for 100+ catches and 1,000+ yards this season

He's had some dud games lately, but the Commanders failed to do much at all last week with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota starting in place of the injured Daniels. That certainly limited Samuel's upside, but with the starting QB back, we could see him heavily targeted, and another 20+ PPR fantasy point performance wouldn't be a surprise.
Samuel should be started in all leagues in Week 9.
