Recent Fantasy Football News for Rookie TEs
Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren caught one of his three targets for a 25-yard gain in a 23-19 preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. Warren continues to look sharp for the Colts after they used the No. 14 overall pick in the draft to select him. He has now caught four of his seven targets for 65 yards through two preseason games. Warren is worth a look as a low-end TE1 in fantasy drafts as the regular season approaches.
Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland caught two passes on two targets for 26 yards in Sunday’s 38-0 win against the Buffalo Bills. The 2025 first-round pick caught the game's first pass from quarterback Caleb Williams, as well as hauling in an 18-yard reception over the middle on 2nd-and-14. Despite Loveland's solid night, he only played four of nine snaps when the Bears ran one-tight end formations.
A tight end rotation is currently in the works with veteran tight end Cole Kmet, but expect Loveland's role to grow as the season progresses. With the crowded receiving corps and an uncertain role early in the season, Loveland should only be considered in the late rounds of fantasy drafts.
Mason Taylor, New York Jets
Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo caught two passes for 19 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The second-round rookie has now caught four passes for 33 yards in two preseason games this season. He has displayed the athleticism that made him a second-round selection in the first place. The learning curve at tight end is difficult in the NFL, but reports on Arroyo have been solid throughout the summer, and he has played well this preseason.
With veteran tight end Noah Fant out of the way following his recent release, Arroyo has a chance to rise the ranks in this offense in a hurry. Additionally, the Seahawks will likely employ two-tight-end sets relatively often. As such, Arroyo should see a lot of run with second-year tight end AJ Barner. Arroyo is a deep sleeper for 2025 and a great bet in dynasty leagues.
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has reportedly been looking good in joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles this week. On Thursday, Fannin dropped a potential touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Flacco. However, Fannin responded by catching the next one and later scoring on a corner route. The rumors are that Fannin could line up all over the field, which could give him fantasy value right away in Cleveland. If everything keeps going well, Fannin could very well earn the backup job behind David Njoku to begin the season.
Terrance Ferguson, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson (groin) returned to training camp practice and was in full pads on Monday after missing the last two-plus weeks with a groin injury, according to Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire. Head coach Sean McVay said Ferguson was "a little bit limited." Ferguson hasn't played in the first two preseason games, and it's unknown if he'll suit up in the preseason finale on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns.
The Rams are unlikely to take any chances with their top rookie before the regular-season opener, so the 22-year-old probably won't play this weekend. For fantasy purposes, Ferguson can be ignored in redraft leagues in 2025 with the Rams being deep at the TE position with Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, and Davis Allen in the mix alongside the rookie. The Rams have the luxury to be able to take it slow with Ferguson.
Oronde Gadsden, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Oronde Gadsden is making a positive impression in training camp so far. According to The Athletic's Daniel Popper, Gadsden "continues to show up consistently in the passing game" for the Chargers. The rookie tight end made an "explosive" catch during Wednesday's practice as he continues to show why the Chargers used a fifth-round pick on him in the 2025 NFL draft. Gadsden caught two of his four targets for 15 yards in Los Angeles' preseason game against the New Orleans Saints last week.
He is athletic and well-regarded as a pass catcher, but still has veterans Tyler Conklin and Will Dissly ahead of him on the depth chart. From a fantasy football perspective, Gadsden is more interesting for dynasty managers as he's unlikely to be relevant in redraft leagues until next season.
Gunnar Helm, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm hauled in four receptions for 48 yards and one touchdown reception (all team highs) in the team's preseason victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday. The Texas product has been productive in camp and reportedly has a shot to carve out a regular-season role alongside starter Chig Okonkwo.
Helm was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after compiling 60 receptions for 786 yards and seven touchdown receptions in his senior season with the Longhorns. With a lack of established targets behind No. 1 WR Calvin Ridley, Helm and fellow rookie pass-catchers Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike could be significant contributors right away for quarterback Cameron Ward. Helm is worth a late-round pick in rookie drafts, but it would be surprising if he's a weekly fantasy producer in Year 1.
Tennessee's offense will likely experience growing pains with a rookie quarterback, so Ridley seems to be the only "safe" target among Tennessee pass-catchers.
