Who Should I Draft for Fantasy Football? TreVeyon Henderson, RJ Harvey, Kaleb Johnson Outlooks (2025)

TreVeyon Henderson - CFB, NCAAF, Running Back, DFS, Draft Prospects

Who should I draft for fantasy football in 2025? Fantasy football outlooks for TreVeyon Henderson, RJ Harvey, Kaleb Johnson, and our expert draft advice.

A total of six running backs were taken in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton have top-40 ADPs right out of the gate, while Quinshon Judkins' value has taken a nosedive following his recent off-field troubles. This leaves us with TreVeyon Henderson, RJ Harvey, and Kaleb Johnson. Three talented RBs who all have the potential to be great players someday. Obviously, that doesn't matter to us if we're playing in redraft leagues, and we're more interested in finding out which one can contribute right now.

Amongst the 44 rookie second-to-third round RBs since 2017, 24 of them had seasons with over 100.0 PPR points, which is around 54%. However, no one from the 2024 class of second-to-third round RBs managed to reach that milestone, with the closest being Trey Benson, with 47.0 PPR points. Will we see a repeat of 2024 with Henderson, Harvey, and Johnson, or was it just a fluke season?

Without further ado, let's look at my fantasy outlooks for these three rookie RBs and my verdict on who you should draft in 2025.

TreVeyon Henderson 2025 Fantasy Outlook

TreVeyon Henderson didn't waste any time making his mark in his first preseason game. With his first televised touch on an NFL field, Henderson returned the opening kickoff for a 100-yard touchdown.

Many fans around the world were stunned, but OC Josh McDaniels knew Henderson had this in him. "I think everyone sees TreVeyon the same way," McDaniels said in a press conference following the Patriots' 48-18 win over the Commanders.

"He's a tremendous kid. Awesome individual, really hard worker. Smart kid. Can process a lot of information, which allows you as a coach to use him in the ways he should be used. He's explosive. I think we all saw that the other night. Tough. Physical. I don't have many negatives to say about Tre."

Henderson was ranked as the best RB recruit coming out of high school (despite missing his entire senior season due to the pandemic), and had a sensational season as a true freshman. He had 34 explosive (10+ yards) runs and a PFF breakaway percentage of 47.5 as he broke OSU's freshman total touchdowns record.

He struggled with injuries in 2022 and 2023, but was rejuvenated in 2024 following Quinshon Judkins' arrival. He had 32 explosive runs and ranked inside the top 10 amongst FCS RBs with 100+ rushes in breakaway percentage (53.9), and YAC per attempt (4.43).

So, just like McDaniels said, explosive and physical, but his rushing vision and patience are also very underrated. Henderson has proven that he can succeed in a two-man rushing attack, and his skill set fits Rhamondre Stevenson's game perfectly.

Stevenson is a good power back who can wear defenses down with short runs, while Henderson's explosiveness and ability to avoid fumbles (zero lost fumbles in his collegiate career) make him the perfect change-of-pace RB. The Patriots will likely employ a "running back by committee" approach, similar to McDaniels' previous tenure with them.

RJ Harvey 2025 Fantasy Outlook

RJ Harvey's numbers in his last two years at UCF don't even seem real. 3,498 yards from scrimmage and 42 touchdowns. Harvey averaged a breakaway percentage of 49.6 and forced 181 missed tackles throughout his collegiate career.

Broncos HC Sean Payton seems pretty confident about Harvey's ability, calling him "very coachable" and a "willing learner". Payton also hinted at switching things up this year, as he promised fans would see "a markedly different running game."

However, trusting Payton is not easy. Throughout his 17 years as an OC and HC in the NFL, only four rookie RBs (2000 Ron Dayne, 2006 Reggie Bush, 2010 Chris Ivory, and 2017 Alvin Kamara) have recorded over 100.0 PPR points, with Bush and Kamara being the only ones with over 110.0 PPR points and 1,000 yards from scrimmage.

Also, the competition will be brutal. J.K. Dobbins is looking to earn a long-term deal following his signing with the Broncos, while young RBs Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime are hungry to establish themselves. The odds are against Harvey in 2025.

Kaleb Johnson 2025 Fantasy Outlook

Kaleb Johnson is another talented young RB with the odds against him in 2025. Johnson broke out in his junior season at Iowa, rushing for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns. That season caused him to be taken in the third round of a loaded RB class despite a relative lack of production in his first two seasons.

When the Steelers took him with the 83rd pick, they expected him to become their next great RB and everything that Najee Harris wasn't. Unfortunately, things haven't panned out that way for Johnson so far in his young NFL career.

Speaking on WDVE Radio, ESPN's Brooke Pryor said Johnson reminded her of Harris, which is not what you want to hear if you're a Steelers fan. "You wanna be durable and explosive, and I haven’t seen that yet from Kaleb Johnson," Pryor said.

Additionally, Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo claimed, "There's no way the Steelers are going to trust Kaleb Johnson to pass protect or catch the ball out of the backfield."

Johnson has the talent to turn things around, but on a win-now Pittsburgh team with Mike Tomlin as the HC, he won't steal many touches from Jaylen Warren and will have to compete with Kenneth Gainwell.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?

RJ Harvey and Kaleb Johnson are very talented RBs who can easily have long and successful careers in the NFL, but they're not in an ideal situation right now. Harvey has too much competition, while Johnson is struggling to stand out.

Henderson is the clear choice here. Although he won't get as many touches as the other elite rookie RBs like Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton, he is the next best choice and is set to split touches with Rhamondre Stevenson on a rebuilt Patriots offense.

If you can't get your hands on Henderson, it's honestly a toss-up between Harvey and Johnson. I would probably lean slightly towards Harvey, as J.K. Dobbins is a very injury-prone player compared to Jaylen Warren.

Verdict: Draft Henderson.
