Week 3 Kicker Streamers and Starts - 2024 Fantasy Tiers, Rankings

Daniel Carlson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Kicker Streamers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Kacey Kasem examines fantasy football kickers for Week 3 - streamers, starts, sits, targets, avoids, and waiver wire pickups. Our Week 3 rankings and tiers for all of the NFL kickers.

Are you looking for a Week 3 streamer at kicker that can give your fantasy football team an edge? This week is the perfect time for you to capitalize on kicker matchups your league mates are missing out on.

With options like Daniel Carlson, Dustin Hopkins, and Joey Slye all rostered in less than 15% of Sleeper leagues, plenty of kicker value is available. These kicker options are players you shouldn't sleep on in Week 3.

There are also some kickers you should avoid for Week 3. These options might be great starts in future weeks, but they're best left off your starting roster in Week 3. Quarterback play is a common theme when looking at kickers to bench. I'll look to optimize your lineup for Week 3 with these kicker recommendations and those you should avoid, including my rankings.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Kicker Streamers to Target for Week 3

Only players rostered in fewer than 60% of fantasy football leagues are considered streamers.

Daniel Carlson (LV) vs. Carolina Panthers
14.5% Rostered on Sleeper

I had Daniel Carlson on the kickers to avoid list for Week 2, which was unfortunately incorrect. He scored 18.00 fantasy football points in his Week 2 matchup with Baltimore.

Carlson connected on all field goal attempts, making four in the 26-23 win over the Ravens. Additionally, he made both extra-point attempts.

This week, Carlson is at home, facing the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have given up the second-most points to the kicker position this season. Carolina has started the season off poorly, and that looks to continue when they take on the Raiders.

The Panthers have been struggling on both sides of the ball. Carolina had a poor showing in Week 1, losing 47-10 to the New Orleans Saints. They followed that up by scoring only three points in their loss to the Chargers in Week 2. The Panthers should continue to struggle, giving Carlson numerous scoring opportunities.

Dustin Hopkins (CLE) vs. New York Giants
12.7% Rostered on Sleeper

This week, veteran kicker Dustin Hopkins faces the New York Giants, another team struggling this season. The Giants have allowed the same number of points to kickers this season as the Panthers.

Hopkins had a perfect game in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He hit all three field-goal attempts while also tacking on an extra point.

This season, despite the small sample size, Hopkins has connected on all field goals attempted from 50 or more yards out. He looks to bring his big leg into Week 3's contest against the Giants.

Cleveland has only one passing touchdown this season. Hopkins could be busy in this contest, with the Browns trying to gain momentum from their Week 2 win against a poor Giants team.

Joey Slye (NE) @ New York Jets
0% Rostered on Sleeper

Here's a kicker to pick up if you're in need after two weeks. Joey Slye is available in almost every league. Slye, New England's kicker, did have one of his three field-goal attempts blocked in Week 2. The Patriots' kicker did make both of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's overtime loss to the Seahawks.

So why would I suggest Slye for Week 3? This week, Slye will face the New York Jets. The Jets are another team that has allowed the second-most points to kickers this season. Yes, the Giants, Jets, and Panthers have all allowed an average of 12.50 points to kickers.

The Patriots have run the ball well through two weeks. In Week 1, New England went for 185 yards on the ground. The following week, the Patriots rushed for 170 yards. Rhamondre Stevenson has proved he is an RB1 in both weeks, and Antonio Gibson showed out in Week 2 with 96 rushing yards and a reception for seven yards.

New England should be able to get the ball into field-goal range in this contest, as the Jets' defense has not been as solid as expected this season. Slye should see plenty of scoring opportunities.

Kickers to Avoid for Week 3

Younghoe Koo (ATL) vs. Kansas City Chiefs
82.8% Rostered on Sleeper

Younghoe Koo takes on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, and this is a contest you'd be better off sitting him. So far, with Kirk Cousins under center, Koo has yet to have the opportunity to shine like he has in the past.

This Week 3 matchup is a road game in Kansas City. The Falcons focus on running the ball, with Bijan Robinson handling the rock. Issues arise for the Falcons when defenses realize they are hyperfocused on running the ball.

If quarterback Kirk Cousins continues to struggle at QB, this offense will not get Koo into scoring position. Although Koo was perfect in the Falcons' Week 1 loss to the Raiders, he only attempted one extra point and one field goal attempt. However, in Monday night's victory over the Eagles, Koo hit all three of his field goals, including a late go-ahead extra point.

Koo should progress as the season goes on, especially if Atlanta can get its offense and defense back on track. This is not one of those games, though, as the Atlanta defense has been vulnerable to quarterback runs, and the offense has been subpar.

Jason Sanders (MIA) @ Seattle Seahawks
54.1% Rostered on Sleeper

Jason Sanders only had the opportunity to make one field goal in Week 2's 31-10 loss to Buffalo. He did connect on the field goal and tacked on an extra point.

The Dolphins struggled on Thursday night. Additionally, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa looks uncertain to play in Week 3. He sustained a concussion in Week 2's loss to the Bills and may be missing from action for weeks to come.

This offense is a question mark without Tagovailoa under center. Once Tagovailoa went down, Miami's backup quarterback, Skylar Thompson, went 8-for-14 for 80 yards.

The seventh-rounder did not see any playing time in 2023. Until we know what this offense will look like without Tua, Sanders is best left on your bench.
