Week 6 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Outlooks

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad/hip) appears unlikely to suit up in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. The veteran wideout has missed the past two games with a lingering quad injury and did not practice on Wednesday, putting his status in serious doubt. McLaurin signed a new contract before the season but has struggled to find his rhythm, a trend that has been common among receivers coming off holdouts or limited offseason participation.

Through three games, he's caught 10 of 17 targets for 149 yards and has yet to score a touchdown. In McLaurin's absence, free-agent addition Deebo Samuel Sr. has emerged as the Commanders' top receiving option. Fantasy managers should monitor practice reports on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to determine if McLaurin has any chance to return this week.

Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney (hamstring) has been among the disappointing fantasy receivers this year, but could return to his regularly scheduled role in Week 6. According to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Falcons coach Raheem Morris said he would have more information on the receiver following Thursday's practice, but the team initially believed the injury would not force Mooney to miss any games.

Mooney has not yet had a big fantasy week in 2025, but he did draw 11 targets in his last full game. He's still sharing targets with Drake London, but he finished last year as the No. 31 overall fantasy receiver. Given good health, Mooney could be due to return to a workload more similar to last season in the coming weeks.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (leg) was absent during Wednesday's practice session. Godwin made his season debut in Week 4 and already picked up a new injury. The 29-year-old is reportedly dealing with a fibula issue, which sounds like an injury that could sideline him in Week 6. It's only Wednesday, so fantasy managers shouldn't jump to conclusions yet.

However, fantasy managers should monitor the injury report on Thursday and Friday. Fellow wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) remained out of practice on Wednesday. If they both sit, Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard would be the top wideouts for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers

In his return to practice for the first time this year on Wednesday, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) was listed as limited, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The Packers opened Watson's 21-day practice window to officially return from the Physically Unable to Perform list. It means that the 26-year-old can resume practicing with the team, but it doesn't make him a lock to make his 2025 debut in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Watson suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the Week 18 regular-season finale last year, which is why he has missed the first five games of 2025. At the very least, though, Watson deserves waiver-wire consideration with his return on the horizon. When healthy, Watson gives the Packers an explosive deep threat, although his fantasy value could very well be boom/bust in a crowded Packers receiving room.

DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith boomed against the Broncos, recording his highest target and receiving yard counts of the season in a team-leading performance. The question with Smith, as usual, is whether or not he can turn this into consistency. After his last big game against the Rams, he followed it up with two catches on two targets in the next outing.

This week, he does have a very favorable matchup against the Giants, who are allowing the second-most fantasy points to WRs this season. Plus, on a short week, Smith might be able to capitalize on a New York defense that's less than 100% conditioned. He's worth a WR3 spot in what should be his second consecutive strong week.
