Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups - Sean Tucker, Devin Neal, Tyrone Tracy Fantasy Football Outlooks

Sean Tucker - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, Draft Sleepers, Draft Rankings

Week 8 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Sean Tucker, Devin Neal, Tyrone Tracy in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

Injuries at every position in fantasy football are major drivers of production for the players that remain healthy. This is especially true for running backs -- they can often go from scoring zero points to immediately start-worthy.

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller (knee) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (foot) are both dealing with injuries that have increased the values of the RBs behind them, at least temporarily.

And New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. dealt with a shoulder issue that held him out for two weeks. Let's break down waiver wire pickups for running backs on all three of these teams!

Devin Neal Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 4% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

The aforementioned Miller, the RB2 for the Saints, unfortunately tore his ACL in Week 7. He'll need surgery to repair the issue, and his 2025 season is over. The Saints drafted RB Devin Neal in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he's the next RB on the team's depth chart.

It seems that Neal will take over the role handled by Miller -- grinding out some short yardage work and offering to spell New Orleans' RB1, Alvin Kamara. Neal struggled to get much playing time due to Miller's solid play, so it seems like this will be a downgrade.

Neal wasn't one of my favorite RB prospects. He struggled with forcing missed tackles and gaining  yards after contact in college, and against quality competition (i.e. Power-4 conference schools) his production was significantly worse than it was against inferior defenses.

That doesn't mean he won't get any volume, but with Kamara likely still handling nearly all of the backfield receiving work, it's hard to see him having much of an impact in fantasy. He's only worth rostering in very deep leagues unless he surprises us, but the Saints offense has been struggling in recent weeks, which doesn't help.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 37% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues

Tracy scored 10.6 PPR fantasy points in Week 7. Nearly all of those came on a 31-yard touchdown run in which he was untouched and had excellent blocking helping him get to the end zone. That play accounted for 9.1 PPR fantasy points -- he had eight other carries that went for 15 yards and zero receiving work.

Though he's a converted receiver, he wasn't targeted a single time -- it was rookie Cam Skattebo that got six targets, catching three of them for 34 yards and a touchdown. Tracy is one of the least elusive RBs in the NFL, struggling to force missed tackles, while Skattebo is one of its best in that area.

Tracy has a raw speed advantage over Skattebo, but that's about it. It seems that Tracy's value has diminished nearly completely, and he's not much more than a handcuff for Skattebo moving forward. It's interesting that this is basically the same thing that happened to Giants RB Devin Singletary last year.

Perhaps Tracy will get a slightly bigger role as he recovers more from his shoulder injury, but Skattebo has been fantastic so far. It's unlikely that they'll divert touches away from him as long as he's this dominant.

Sean Tucker Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 17% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

Tucker is serving in the RB2 role behind Buccaneers RB Rachaad White right now. But it hasn't led to much fantasy production. In three games with Irving sidelined due to injury, Tucker has just 10 carries, 32 yards, and one touchdown, and four catches for negative two yards.

The vast majority of the backfield work has gone to White, who's a serviceable fantasy running back right now. He's handled 18, 20, and 14 touches in the last three games, easily besting Tucker, and has been far more productive in fantasy, with 23.1, 17.6, and 8.4 PPR fantasy points.

Tucker simply isn't a difference-maker to the level needed for him to get enough work to be fantasy-relevant unless White were to go down with injury. And Irving, though he's likely set to miss Week 8, will take over the lead back role, pushing White to the RB2 role and Tucker even further into irrelevancy.
