In this weekly piece, we search for starting pitchers rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues. For deeper leagues, we try to find pitchers rostered in less than 30 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Starting Pitcher Waiver Wire Pickups for Shallow Leagues
Recommendations for leagues of any size rostered between 30-50% on Yahoo!
Eury Perez, Miami Marlins (36% rostered)
I know what you are thinking: the results have not been there, and you are correct. But he is starting to log a fuller workload, throwing 93 pitches on Friday night. Perez is still trying to find his stuff, but he is too good to pitch poorly for too long. This is more of a speculative pick than a ringing endorsement, but he is available in most leagues and could help your team in the second half.
Lucas Giolito, Boston Red Sox (36% rostered)
I know Giolito looked like he was cooked in May, but he has turned it around in June: three wins, a 3.04 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 26 innings. This includes four consecutive starts where Giolito has gone at least six innings. Adding him largely depends on your risk tolerance; when he blows up, he can ruin your week.
Noah Cameron, Kansas City Royals (47% rostered)
Listen, someone has to pitch against the Los Angeles Dodgers every night, and Friday night, that was Cameron. This wasn't a good matchup for him. He went only four innings, nabbing four strikeouts while giving up five runs, two on homers to Shohei Ohtani and Max Muncy. His next outing will be against the Seattle Mariners, and look for Cameron to bounce back there. The young lefty has two wins, a 2.79 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 38 strikeouts in 51 innings this year.
Landen Roupp, San Francisco Giants (38% rostered)
Roupp pitched another solid game against the White Sox on Friday night, going into the sixth inning and giving up zero runs while striking out four and earning the win. He now has six wins on the season, with a 3.43 ERA and a little high 1.44 WHIP, with 74 strikeouts in 81 innings. Despite the WHIP, Roupp is a usable pitcher, at the very least, as a streaming option. Roupp does a great job limiting hard contact, especially with the sinker, which he is throwing the most, and his curveball. See the chart below.
Eduardo Rodriguez, Arizona Diamondbacks (30% rostered)
I had his name circled earlier in the year as a pitcher to follow as he got stretched out and was pitching deeper into games. The crafty veteran threw six innings this past week against the Chicago White Sox, earning a win while striking out 10 hitters. In his last four appearances, he has two wins, a 2.05 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 22 innings. It might be time to take E-Rod seriously again.
Brayan Bello, Boston Red Sox (32% rostered)
Bello can be tough to roster because of his inconsistency, and I understand if you choose to go in another direction. He was mediocre on Friday night, going six innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, getting a no-decision with only one strikeout. In his prior two starts, however, he had six and eight strikeouts and a win. Here's the thing: he is experimenting with a new cutter, which, for reasons unclear, he only used 13 times on Friday. I think he could unlock a new level once he has the feel for that cutter, adding another fastball to his mix. Watch Bello as the season winds on.

Ryne Nelson, Arizona Diamondbacks (27% rostered)
Players do not seem to take Nelson seriously, and I am guessing that is because they may be fuzzy on what his role is on the Diamondbacks. Let's be clear: Nelson is in the rotation and deserves the spot. He has two wins in four June starts, with a 4.34 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts, while going at least five innings in each of his last three appearances. Nelson primarily uses a four-seamer, but as he sticks in the rotation, he is mixing in a slider and a cutter with an occasional curveball and a developing changeup for lefties. He flies under the radar a bit, but he should be on your radar as the season ticks off into July.
Edward Cabrera, Miami Marlins (25% rostered)
Look, Cabrera is always going to be a bit of a wild card. Yet, the stuff is there, and he is starting to pitch deeper into games. He is always going to have the walks, but the stuff is so good that he limits hits. Below, you can see his four starts in June. Note the limited innings in the first two, but see that he has pitched into the sixth and seventh innings in the last two, with decent strikeout numbers following him there. Take a look at Cabrera, but be ready to ride the roller coaster a bit with him.
Jacob Lopez, Athletics (23% rostered)
Lopez has come out of nowhere for the Athletics, but he has pitched well in his opportunity there. In his last three starts, Lopez has gone at least six innings, earning two wins with 24 strikeouts in 19 innings. Interestingly, Lopez does it without a big fastball and is an extreme fly-ball pitcher, which might not bode well for summer starts in the heat of Sacramento. But you can see below that the Statcast is full of red, which we love to see, and you might want to stream him now while he is hot before the league catches up to him. Lopez is generating lots of whiffs and strikeouts and limiting hard contact right now.
Emmet Sheehan, Los Angeles Dodgers (17% rostered)
Sheehan is not currently on the Dodgers roster, but I feel like that is going to change soon. Sheehan started a game 10 days ago for Los Angeles and went four innings, but struck out six batters and looked nasty. In a Triple-A game Wednesday, he went six perfect innings, striking out a whopping 13 hitters. The Dodgers don't have any days off in the first week of July, so look for Sheehan to be recalled to help during that period. He is one of their five best starting pitchers. Grab him now before it is too late.
Slade Cecconi, Cleveland Guardians (16% rostered)
I have liked Cecconi all year and kept him on my dynasty roster for two years through injuries. Cecconi is healthy and seems to be coming into his own. He has four consecutive starts where he has gone at least five innings, the last one being seven strong innings, and gave up nothing while securing the win. He does lack the strikeout upside, but he's got two wins, a 1.50 ERA, and a 1.17 WHIP over the last two weeks while helping to stabilize the Cleveland rotation. See the pitch mix below.
