Should I pickup Parker Washington or Dyami Brown as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 9 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter (knee) was set to emerge from his bye week with the potential for a big breakout. He had his first big game in Week 7, when he caught eight of his 14 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown.
The struggles of the Jags WR1, Brian Thomas Jr., have been apparent. He's dealt with shoulder and wrist injuries and struggled with the most important thing a WR has to do -- catch the football. He's dropped six passes so far.
But in a shocking turn of events, though Hunter was poised to be given the opportunity to be the team's WR1, he injured his knee in practice and was placed on injured reserve the next day. Only time will tell when he can return, but it's mandatory that he miss at least four games. So should you pick up WR Parker Washington or Dyami Brown, Hunter's backups, for Week 9? Let's dive in.

Parker Washington Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Washington has had inconsistent playing time with Jacksonville so far this season. In Week 7, he was targeted ten times and given three running plays, but he only caught four of those passes for 52 yards and scored 10.2 PPR fantasy points.
The Jaguars have oddly made it a point to force the ball to Washington excessively a few times this season. It hasn't worked out yet. While he's a consistent receiver that doesn't drop the ball as much as Thomas, he simply doesn't have the athletic ceiling to be a team's WR1.

It's possible to be decent at everything without having that "X" factor that makes you an ideal featured weapon for an offense. That's not something Washington should do. He even struggles with consistency as an auxiliary piece. It's simply been the slow progression of Hunter and the poor play of Thomas that's made him get excessive volume.
You have to hope for a PPR-scam type performance for him to be worth starting, and NFL offenses generally aren't rewarded for playing like that. It's tough to justify a bench spot for him outside of deep leagues.
Dyami Brown Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Brown has also struggled with drops, and he was signed by the Jaguars this offseason, yet has mostly not been effective. There's a reason the Jaguars drafted high-upside receivers in each of the last two seasons in the first round of the NFL Draft -- because they really need help there.
Brown is another player the Jaguars have oddly tried to feed a lot of targets to at times, with predictable results. Brown's best game was in Week 2, when he caught five of his seven targets for 57 yards and a touchdown, scoring 17.6 PPR fantasy points.

That TD came against one of the worst defenses in the NFL, the Cincinnati Bengals D. He's averaged 5.2 points in his other games this year.
Should I Pickup Parker Washington or Dyami Brown For Fantasy Football?
I doubt either of them will have consistent start-worthy production. Neither of them have caught more than three touchdowns in a season. On a team called the Jaguars, they are both JAGs -- an acronym that stands for "Just Another Guy". If anyone will benefit greatly from Hunter's absence, it's Thomas.
Thomas is far more talented than Washington or Brown, and while it remains to be seen how well he's recovered from his injuries, it's unlikely that featuring Brown or Washington heavily will actually help Jacksonville win on Sunday.
Thomas has the draft capital and the production history that proves that he can be a productive WR1. The Jaguars best plan of action is to lean on him and the running backs, and pray the defense doesn't get lit up. But they'll face the Las Vegas Raiders, who are one of the worst teams in the NFL.
If I was forced to choose one of these players, I wouldn't, but if I was really forced to, I guess I'd pick up Washington, who I'd immediately drop for someone like New York Giants WR Darius Slayton if I was allowed to drop him. No Jags WR available on waivers excites me.
