Should I pickup Bam Knight or Emari Demercado as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 10 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson (knee) has now missed four games due to a knee injury he suffered in Week 4. He was placed on injured reserve after that game and remains there today. And it doesn't look like he'll be able to return in Week 10, either.
Benson missed practice on Wednesday. After a bye week, you'd hope he'd at least be able to return in a limited fashion. But it doesn't appear, as of now, that he'll log a full practice at any point this week -- his practice window still hasn't been opened for his return.
While it was expected that he had a chance to return in Week 10, as that will be the first game he's technically able to be activated off IR for, it seems fantasy managers who have him will have to wait longer. So should you pick up his backups, Bam Knight or Emari Demercado, off waivers ahead of Week 10?

Bam Knight Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Despite a nuts matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9, Knight scored 6.7 PPR fantasy points, despite a good game-script in the win. He carried the ball nine times for 27 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards. While he was named the starter ahead of his Week 7 game, he actually wasn't the most productive back in the Cardinals backfield.
Even though RB Michael Carter didn't log a snap in Week 9, Demercado logged 15 touches and was overall more productive. It seems that Arizona is doing one of two things here -- either they're shifting away from Knight, or they're just playing around with different touch shares in their backfield while they await Benson's return.

His minimal involvement in a positive matchup make him not worth adding. The risk is simply too great.
Emari Demercado Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Demercado fared better than Knight, logging 14 rushes for 79 yards and catching his one target for negative one yard. That still wasn't relevant for fantasy football, but it seems strange that they didn't just go with him as the starter in the first place.
They released Carter earlier in the season after giving him the starting job in Week 5. It's possible Demercado could have been soft-benched for the terrible goal-line fumble that he committed in Week 5, and they're finally working him back into the lineup.

Still, the numbers are more encouraging, as his rushing average was much higher than Knight's.
Should I Pickup Bam Knight or Emari Demercado For Fantasy Football?
I would still say neither are worth picking up. The Cardinals will go on the road to face the Seattle Seahawks, who have one of the best overall defenses in the NFL, and have done a great job shutting down opposing running backs this season.
It seems that the Cardinals trust Demercado, or at least he's the most effective back they have right now. It's just hard to me to trust him in starting lineups. There is a bit of help from him being a pass-catching back, but he only had one target last week.
One last cutup from Monday night's tape: Emari Demercado's pass protection was incredible in this game.
These were all on the first drive of the game.

Good pass-protectors at running back also tend to get plenty of playing time. Perhaps they just wanted to keep the ball out of his hands for a bit as punishment for the goal-line fumble, but maybe he's learned his less by now.
In deep leagues, you can grab Demercado if you're desperate for someone to fill in in your RB spot or a deep flex spot or something like that. He should be fine for that. But he has a tough matchup, as Seattle hasn't been kind to opposing rushers this year, allowing just 3.5 yards per carry on the year, the lowest mark in the league.
However, they've been a bit kinder to receiving backs. You'll have to hope he gets a decent number of targets. Seattle's offense has been crushing it, and the Cardinals could go behind early in the game, which could lead to plenty of pass attempts, and perhaps Demercado will get his fair share of checkdowns.
