Quarterbacks & Tight Ends Sending Out Warning Signals Going Into Week 5

In the NFL, there are always those players who make you more and more anxious as the season goes on. They either aren't producing at the level they should, or they're simply getting too many garbage time points to allow you to feel confident in them on a weekly basis.

Fortunately, we're here to point out five of those players between the quarterback and tight end position that you'll want to keep your eye on moving forward.

This isn't to say that these five players should immediately be dropped and sent to the waiver wire, but they're at least making us sweat. Let's roll right into it.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Quarterbacks Sending Out Warning Signals

Ryan Tannehill QB, MIA

Tannehill may not be belittling teammate's paychecks, but he did admit to ripping the players on the scout squad, according to James Walker of ESPN. Not your finest moment, Ryan. While the off-field drama is one thing, the fact that the Miami Dolphins have now fired Joe Philbin puts Tannehill in an interesting situation. He may not be impacted much by the move, but the question is, can it help him at all? Regardless, the last two weeks specifically have been majorly concerning when it comes to Tannehill, due to the turnovers, completion percentage and miserable quarterback rating.

In two losses to the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, he led the Dolphins offense to just 14 points in each game, and two of his four touchdown passes over that span came in the fourth quarter when the games were already out of reach. That's concerning, to say the least. Tannehill completed 53.1 percent of his passes against Buffalo and 43.2 percent of his passes against the Jets, while throwing four touchdowns against five interceptions. To top it all off, he's posted an average QB rating of 56.35. Tannehill is trending down, and it's getting very concerning.

Joe Flacco – QB, BAL

For a minute there, Flacco had us thinking that he had bounced back to the "good Flacco." After posting back-to-back 350-plus passing yard games against the Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals (while throwing four touchdowns against two interceptions), Flacco fell backwards in Week 4. He threw for just 189 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

This has always been the issue with Flacco--he's wildly inconsistent. While he did play without Steve Smith in the victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, Flacco needs to find a way to keep his numbers up. Smith's status remains unknown for Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, but it's obviously pretty unlikely that fantasy players want to give Flacco the benefit of the doubt after last week, especially without his top receiver.

We aren't going to throw in the towel on Flacco's entire season or anything, but for right now, he's trending in the wrong direction and gives us plenty of reason to be concerned. He's had just as many strong games in 2015 as he's had bad games to this point, which is never good. Just keep Flacco on your radar and hope that you have better options until he can establish some positive consistency.

Andrew Luck  QB, IND

Through the first three weeks of the 2015 NFL season, Luck looked absolutely nothing like the player we saw back in 2014 who threw for 4,761 yards and 40 touchdowns with only 16 interceptions. Instead, Luck began his 2015 campaign by throwing for an average of 251 yards per game, with five touchdowns and seven interceptions through just those three games. His completion percentage has been poor, coming in at 56.0 to this point.

Worst of all for Luck, he's now dealing with a shoulder injury. This injury left him sidelined in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he still seemed locked in to play on Thursday Night Football against the Houston Texans. Well, that's not happening, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, who reported that Matt Hasselbeck will be starting for the Colts in Week 5.

It's just been a brutal combination of factors for Luck, who was likely either the first or second quarterback selected in most fantasy leagues. Things could definitely turn around, but there's also the chance that this shoulder injury is worse than the Colts are leading on.

Tight Ends Sending Out Warning Signals

Tyler Eifert – TE, CIN

It's not so much that Eifert himself is doing anything wrong, it's more that Andy Dalton is just looking at other players, specifically A.J. Green. While Green started the season off slow, he's caught 17 balls for 309 yards and two scores over the past two weeks. Yes, 227 of those yards and both scores came in one game, but Dalton has targeted Green 23 times over the two-game span.

On the other side of it, Eifert has received just seven targets in the past two weeks, while catching three balls for 69 yards total. After hauling in 13 catches for 153 yards and three touchdowns in the first two weeks, he's dropped off completely. Eifert will still have some great matchups and get looks from Dalton as the season goes on, but we may want to cool off on the Eifert hype for a few weeks, at least until he begins to get more targets.

Jimmy Graham  TE, SEA

Things with Graham's transition over to the Seattle Seahawks haven't gone nearly as planned. Whether Graham is frustrated with his role, or just not getting the targets that he probably should, his fantasy stock isn't something that you can rely on. Through four games, Graham has been the definition of hit-or-miss. In Week 1, he caught six balls for 51 yards and a score, but then in Week 2 he caught only one pass for 11 yards. His most recent performance was a four-catch, 29-yard outing against the Detroit Lions, where he was targeted just five times.

When Graham was with the New Orleans Saints, he was in the tight end tier with Rob Gronkowski. Now, he finds himself behind the likes of Gary Barnidge in terms of fantasy points, while being just ahead of Richard Rodgers, Eric Ebron and Ladarius Green in most Fleaflicker leagues. With all due respect to those guys, they aren't supposed to be on the same level as Graham. The red lights are flashing all over the place for the former Saint, and something has to change soon or else it'll likely all come to a head in Seattle.
