NFL DFS Value Plays: Week 8 Bargain Bin for DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo Includes Caleb Williams, Javonte Williams, DeVonta Smith, more

Caleb Williams - Fantasy Football Rankings, QB, NFL Rookies, Draft Sleepers

Juan's top NFL DFS sleepers and DFS value plays for Week 8 of 2024. These DFS bargains are cheap on FanDuel, DraftKings, Yahoo daily fantasy football contests.

Welcome to the Week 8 main slate edition of RotoBaller's NFL DFS Bargain Bin for the 2024 NFL season, where the goal is to touch on some potentially mispriced players across the industry who find themselves in favorable matchups and/or suddenly expanded roles.

Each week, I’ll give you my thoughts on where there may be some value spots to exploit. On this eighth main slate of the 2024 campaign, I'm glad to report that value-salary players are abundant on Yahoo, FanDuel, and DraftKings.

In addition to offering multiple candidates at each position, I'll also list at least one more player to consider, along with some site-specific value plays when applicable.

NFL DFS Bargain Bin Intro

Before we go NFL DFS Bargain Bin hunting, here are a few particulars about format and content.

The nature of the beast with value plays is at least a modest amount (and sometimes substantially more) of risk. Therefore, the Bargain Bin may prove to be a bit more of a roller coaster ride on some slates than your typical “tout” article!

Naturally, that doesn’t mean there isn’t upside to be had. All of these selections are, therefore, suitable for GPPs and can also often serve as solid cash-game plays while often helping you accommodate multiple higher-priced studs into your lineup.

Typically, I’ll suggest players who are value-priced across three major DFS sites (DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo). However, there are certainly occasions where one or more sites price a player significantly lower than others. Whenever possible, I’ll typically at least note those players as an “XYZ site special.”

This article is by no means intended to serve as an exhaustive list of all value options for the week. Rather, it’s meant to take a deeper dive into those I feel offer some of the best combinations of savings and upside.

The goal is to recommend truly affordable players, as opposed to say a player priced just $300-$400 away from the highest-priced option at his position. I don’t have set-in-stone price limits in mind for each site, but I do consider legitimate affordability a very important criterion.

Quarterback DFS Value Plays

Caleb Williams, CHI at WAS | DK: $6,000, FD: $7,400, Yahoo: $30

Williams was trending in precisely the right direction for a first overall pick heading into the Bears' Week 7 bye, as he'd completed 74.1 percent of his passes and generated a 6:1 TD:INT over the previous two games. From that context, it could be argued the week off was particularly ill-timed, but the glass-half-full view is that Williams has had a week to breathe and build more rapport with his talented group of pass-catching weapons ahead of a favorable matchup.

Bo Nix, DEN at CAR | DK: $5,600, FD: $6,900, Yahoo: $27

We're taking the leap of faith with two rookie QBs for our value suggestions, balancing that out with two long-tenured vets in the "Also Consider" section below. Nix's career started off shaky enough with a Week 1 with a 138-yard, two-interception showing against the Seahawks, but the Oregon product has made tangible progress since. Over the last three games, Nix has posted a 4:1 TD:INT while throwing for 586 yards and adding another 145 and a score on the ground.

Running Back DFS Value Plays

Javonte Williams, DEN vs. CAR | DK: $6,000, FD: $6,000, Yahoo: $26

Speaking of Broncos that are showing plenty of signs of life, Williams certainly qualifies after averaging 5.1 yards per carry and scoring twice on the ground over his last four games alongside a 13-89 line as a receiver. The fourth-year back's ability to find consistent running room during that span has been particularly encouraging, considering he averaged just 2.2 yards per carry over his first three games of the season.

Rachaad White, TB vs. ATL | DK: $5,700, FD: $6,400, Yahoo: $21

White's backfield mate Bucky Irving (toe) is listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report but is expected to play, yet that hardly dims the outlook for the third-year back. Not only did White pace the Buccaneers backfield in carries during the Week 7 loss to the Ravens, but the sizable role he filled as a pass catcher (six receptions, 71 yards, two TDs) is likely to be replicated in Week 9 with both Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (IR-ankle) sidelined.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Wide Receiver DFS Value Plays

DeVonta Smith, PHI at CIN | DK: $6,600, FD: $7,300, Yahoo: $26

There are plenty of intriguing value options at receiver in Week 8, and Smith is admittedly toward the end of the salary range we prefer, although he certainly still qualifies as a discounted piece. The speedster also happens to be coming off an utterly forgettable performance against the Giants were he posted a one-catch, minus-2 yard tally on two targets. Naturally, that should lead to a lower roster rate than normal this week, especially considering it's a full slate.

Amari Cooper, BUF at SEA | DK: $6,000, FD: $7,100, Yahoo: $27

Cooper wasted no time commemorating his escape from receiver purgatory -- aka Cleveland -- by finding the end zone in his first game with Josh Allen as his quarterback. The veteran posted an encouraging 4-66-1 line on five targets across just 13 routes and 18 snaps. That's certainly a busy stint relative to time on the field, and it begs the question of what Cooper will be capable of with another week of practice under his belt and in what should be a competitive game environment.

Jerry Jeudy, CLE vs. BAL | DK: $4,800, FD: $6,000, Yahoo: $17

The Browns' offense that Cooper departed from is set to be markedly different in Week 8 for more than just the talented wideout's exit. Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles in his first game since the Cooper trade, and after Dorian Thompson-Robinson also suffered a finger injury in the same game, veteran Jameis Winston was thrust into action. The freewheeling 2015 first overall pick tossed a touchdown on his 11 pass attempts, and he and his pass catchers -- with Jeudy at the helm of the wide receivers -- head into a favorable on-paper matchup against a Ravens pass defense that's given up plenty of production.

ALSO CONSIDER:

Tight End DFS Value Plays

David Njoku, CLE vs. BAL | DK: $5,100, FD: $5,500, Yahoo: $18

Staying on the theme of the Browns' air attack, Njoku is the equivalent of Jeudy for the tight end group. The talented veteran already stood out last week, posting a season-best 10-76-1 line on 14 targets from the three quarterbacks he played with, a performance that netted 23.6 DK/18.6 FD and Yahoo points. Njoku had already managed to cobble together two serviceable performances previously while navigating Watson's inconsistencies, so the move to Winston only brightens the tight end's outlook.

Dalton Kincaid, BUF at SEA | DK: $4,900, FD: $4,000, Yahoo: $16

Cooper isn't the only Bills pass catcher with an encouraging outlook for Sunday, and Kincaid's salaries are especially surprising. The second-year pro is practically free on FD, and both his DK and Yahoo salaries offer great flexibility as well. Kincaid hasn't exactly earned a salary reduction, either, as he's posted a 16-184 line on 26 targets over the last four games. Kincaid encouragingly saw six targets in Cooper's first game as well, parlaying them into a solid 3-52 Week 8 tally.

ALSO CONSIDER:

  • Evan Engram, JAC vs. GB | DK: $5,000, FD: $6,200, Yahoo: $20
  • Cade Otton, TB vs. ATL | DK: $3,500, FD: $5,200, Yahoo: $14
