Nick Mariano's Updated Outfield Rankings
Fantasy Baseball Outfield (OF) News
Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (hand) "should start playing defense again on Wednesday or Thursday," according to Alex D'Agostino of Diamondbacks On SI. He'll likely play the outfield in a backfield game, rather than one of the Snakes' official Cactus League contests.
It's another step in the right direction for the star outfielder, who has been recovering from a broken right hamate bone since February. While the Diamondbacks don't want to (and won't) rush him back, fans and fantasy managers would love some good news on the injury front as Opening Day approaches.
Carroll is coming off another terrific MLB season in which he slashed .259/.343/.541 with a career-high 31 home runs and 139 wRC+, and he also continues to demonstrate advanced defensive skills in the outfield. He's a premium fantasy option, checking in as the #7 outfielder in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings for 2026.
Lawrence Butler, Athletics
Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler (knees) was seen running the bases at the team's spring training facility in Mesa on Sunday. Martín Gallegos of MLB.com reports that the A's are "looking at Tuesday for his first game playing outfield" during 2026 Cactus League action. Butler hasn't played yet this spring, but it sounds like he's getting close.
The Athletics will be pleased to get him back ahead of Opening Day, kicking off a potential bounce-back campaign. Butler posted a modest .710 OPS with 96 wRC+ last year, but on a more positive note, he delivered a 20-homer, 20-steal campaign with 4 OAA and 1 FRV in the outfield. He currently ranks as the #41 outfielder in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings for the 2026 season.
Michael Harris II, Atlanta Braves
Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss might have outfielder Michael Harris II run more frequently in 2026 after the addition of new baserunning guru Antoan Richardson, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman. Harris finished last season with exactly 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases despite entering the All-Star break with the lowest OPS in the league.
"Antoan knows how important baserunning is to me," Weiss said. "It's really important to him, and he's made it important to the players." Richardson helped Juan Soto steal 38 bases last year, and the Braves could be much more aggressive on the base paths as a collective unit.
The 25-year-old Harris has 79th percentile speed and figures to set a new career-high in steals in 2025 after stealing exactly 20 bags in three of his four MLB campaigns. Harris hit a career-low .249 last year, but his power/speed combination in a strong lineup makes him a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 fantasy outfielder as he heads into his fifth year in the majors in 2026.
Seiya Suzuki, Chicago Cubs
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) was removed from Saturday's World Baseball Classic quarterfinal after suffering an apparent injury. Suzuki suffered a right knee injury while attempting to steal second base in the loss to Venezuela. He'll head back to Arizona from Miami so the Cubs' training staff can conduct an evaluation.
When asked for an update, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said it's best to wait and see what the doctors and trainers say. Suzuki is a main cog in the middle of the Cubs' lineup, and it would be a massive blow to the Cubs' lineup. An extended absence would likely free up additional playing time for Kevin Alcantara and Matt Shaw to begin the season.
Charlie Condon, Colorado Rockies
Top Colorado Rockies first base/outfield prospect Charlie Condon is unlikely to make the team's Opening Day roster, per Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. The number three overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Condon has absolutely raked so far in 2026 Spring Training action. Across 37 plate appearances in the Cactus League, the 22-year-old is hitting .419/.486/.806 with three home runs, nine RBI, and six runs scored.
Condon also posted strong numbers across 433 plate appearances split between High-A and Double-A in 2025, slashing .268/.376/.444 with 14 home runs, 58 RBI, 59 runs scored, and two stolen bases. However, he's yet to reach Triple-A, and there's little incentive for the rebuilding Rockies to force him onto the Major League roster early in 2026.
Swing-and-miss is also a potential red flag in Condon's profile, as he struck out in 28.3% of his Double-A plate appearances in 2025. Still, if Condon gets off to a hot start in the Minors, he could make his MLB debut sooner rather than later. He's unquestionably a player worth monitoring for redraft fantasy managers heading into 2026.
Kyle Stowers, Miami Marlins
Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring) is back in the team's Grapefruit League lineup on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals, playing left field and hitting leadoff. Stowers will finally return to game action after missing the last two weeks with a strained right hamstring.
Hopefully, the 28-year-old can get back in the swing of things over the next two weeks and hit the ground running for Opening Day later this month. The young left-handed-hitting outfielder is looking for an encore in 2026 after slashing .288/.386/.544 with a .912 OPS, 25 home runs, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 117 games in his first full season in South Beach.
Stowers broke out in his fourth year in the big leagues and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. Durability is definitely a concern, but when healthy, his 30-homer power potential makes him a high-upside No. 3/4 outfield target in fantasy drafts.
