Alex Gordon Declines Player Option, Receives Qualifying Offer

Following the decline of his $13.75 million player option that makes Alex Gordon a free agent, the Kansas City Royals outfielder received a $15.8 million qualifying offer, as reported by the Royals.

The nine-year veteran spent his entire career with the Kansas City Royals. In 2015, the All-Star outfielder posted a .271/.377/.432 slash with 13 home runs and 48 runs batted in. Since manning left fielder on a regular basis, the highest praise of the 31-year-old Gordon is his Gold Glove-caliber defense. In the previous four years, Gordon has saved a minimum of 16 runs with his defense. The 2015 season was an exception for the normally strong defender because of a left groin strain he suffered in early July that kept him sidelined until September.
