Fantasy Football Tight End Player Outlooks
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft enjoyed a nice sophomore season. He posted a 50-707-7 line and set new career highs across the board. Kraft would finish 2024 as the PPR TE10. In the immediate aftermath of Green Bay's season, head coach Matt LaFleur lamented the fact that the team did not further utilize Kraft and expressed his desire to further incorporate him into Green Bay's offense moving forward. LaFleur has echoed those sentiments several times throughout the offseason as well.
However, the team used a first-round pick to select wide receiver Matthew Golden in the 2025 NFL Draft. The addition of Golden further complicates an already crowded receiving core and marks a potential roadblock toward Kraft earning a larger role. Be that as it may, we should not entirely dismiss LaFleur's comments on Kraft.
He runs an offensive system very similar to the one run by Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers. Perhaps the team sees Kraft as their version of George Kittle and plans to utilize him as such. With Kraft's cost in drafts, it won't cost gamers much to find out. If you plan to wait on tight end in your draft, Kraft's name should be at the top of your list
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews had a curious 2024 season. He saw a decrease in usage and only registered a 14.5% target share per Fantasy Points Data Suite. Andrews' raw stats also weren't great. He only caught 55 receptions for 673 receiving yards. However, his fantasy value was buoyed by a career-high 11 receiving touchdowns. The emergence of wide receiver Rashod Bateman and fellow tight end Isaiah Likely may have played a role in Andrews' usage. He was also coming off a major injury suffered during the 2023 season.
Perhaps the team did not want to overwork him coming off an injury. Regardless, Andrews would have been a major fantasy bust last year if not for his incredible touchdown luck. He is a major regression candidate in this area for 2025. Unless his good touchdown luck continues, Andrews will need to see his role increase if he hopes to be more than a streaming tight end this year. Currently being drafted as the TE7 in NFFC drafts, Andrews is not an ideal target as a TE1.
There are many questions surrounding his 2024 and what it means for the upcoming season. If you plan on drafting Andrews this year, it might be wise to select another tight end later in your draft.
David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
Like many of the Cleveland Browns' offensive skill players in 2024, David Njoku didn't begin posting fantasy-viable stat lines until former teammate Jameis Winston took the reins at quarterback following Deshaun Watson's (Achilles) injury in Week 7. From then until Week 14 (the week before Winston's final start), Njoku was the PPR TE4. Over that stretch, he averaged 16.4 fantasy points per game, putting him right in line with the Cardinals' Trey McBride (16.6) and Miami's Jonnu Smith (16.5).
The 28-year-old has proven over the prior two campaigns that he can produce with the best of his position-mates. However, injuries and QB play have been an issue. In addition to a knee injury that forced him from the final two games of last year, he missed three with an ankle sprain early on and dealt with a hamstring ailment. At this time, veteran Joe Flacco would be the best for his value, but not a long-term solution for Cleveland.
It seems likely that one of Dillon Gabriel, Kenny Pickett, or Shedeur Sanders could be manning the helm by season's end. Fortunately, Njoku is still a top-two target on this team next to wideout Jerry Jeudy, and should be able to fend off new acquisitions WR Diontae Johnson, and rookie TE Harold Fannin Jr. He has all the physical gifts to dominate the position, but his output will largely depend on who eventually gets the job at QB.

Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Late October and early November belonged to Cade Otton. In the three-game stretch from Weeks 7 through 9, Tampa Bay's starting tight end averaged 22.9 PPR fantasy points per game (TE1). But that was all circumstantial. Mike Evans was injured early in Week 7. Chris Godwin's season also ended that week. Jalen McMillan missed Week 9. Baker Mayfield leaned on Otton while his best receivers were in street clothes. Otton only scored one touchdown outside of that window.
His PPR points per game dropped to 6.5 in the 11 other games. The Buccaneers added even more offensive firepower through the NFL Draft when they selected Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka in the first round. Plus, with the emergence of Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay's coaches won't be developing a game plan around Otton. It was a fun offensive explosion while it lasted, but fantasy managers should forget about that and view Otton as a low-ceiling TE2
