DraftKings and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (5/29/23): NBA DFS Lineups

Jimmy Butler - NBA dfs lineup picks, daily fantasy basketball

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on May 29, 2023. Juan Carlos Blanco provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

We have a one-game playoff slate on Monday, which kicks in DraftKings' and FanDuel's single-game contest formats. There are no set roster positions, as would be the case on a multi-game ledger, but there are several position-less multiplier spots on FD -- beginning with a 2x MVP slot -- and a 1.5x multiplier Captain's spot on DK. As such, this article will carry suggestions geared toward that unique setup.

Here are my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 5/29/23. Keep an eye on RotoBaller’s NBA injury news and also our full NBA injury report today to stay up to date before lineups are locked.

Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings Captain (1.5x)/FanDuel MVP (2x) - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Jayson Tatum, BOS - ($20,700 DK Captain; $17,500 FD)

Tatum was far from efficient in Game 6 and went 0-for-8 from three-point range specifically, but he still managed to produce 59.5 DK/58.9 FD points with the help of a perfect 15-for-15 showing from the free-throw line. The star forward has been over 50 fantasy points on four occasions on DK during the series.

He has eclipsed that figure in three instances on FD in that span, and he's averaging 19.2 shot attempts per contest against the Heat as well. With Miami allowing 49.0 percent shooting on the road during the postseason and Tatum having shot 50.9 percent in three home playoff contests during the series thus far, he's the top option for the highest multiplier spot on either site.

Jimmy Butler, MIA - ($20,400 DK Captain; $16,500 FD)

Butler was way off with his shot in Game 6 as well, going just 5-for-21 from the field. The Heat's leader nevertheless generated 53.3 DK/50.2 FD points with the help of a busy night at the free-throw line (12-for-14). Butler shot 50.0 percent in each of the first two games of the series at TD Garden, however.

There's essentially no doubt about the fact he'll be heavily involved with everything on the line Monday. The Celtics have been tough defensively by the numbers at home during the postseason overall, but Butler's past success and his upside put him just behind Tatum in terms of appeal for the top multiplier spot.

DraftKings Utility/FanDuel STAR (1.5x) Plays - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Jaylen Brown, BOS - ($9,200 DK; $13,500 FD)

Brown also had a rough night from three-point range in Game 6, going 0-for-4 from distance. However, he still found his way to a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double that included 46.5 DK/44.5 FD points. Brown has over 30 fantasy points on either site in three straight games overall.

Despite his shooting struggles Saturday, he still boasts a 52.9 percent success rate from the field over the last pair of contests. With his ability to check off every box on the stat sheet and the Heat's aforementioned defensive struggles on the road this postseason, Brown is an excellent 1.5x multiplier candidate.

Bam Adebayo, MIA - ($9,000 DK; $14,00 FD)

Adebayo struggled right alongside Butler in Game 6, shooting 4-for-16 from the field. However, he pulled down 13 rebounds, helping him to still tally 40.3 DK/40.1 FD points. The big man's production has been volatile at times during the series, but he did average 21.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in the first two games of the series at TD Garden. Boston also has the 10th-lowest home rebounding percentage (49.7) of the original 16-team playoff field, furthering Adebayo's case.

FanDuel PRO (1.2x)/Utility Plays - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Marcus Smart, BOS - ($7,800 DK; $11,000 FD)

Smart is shooting 51.9 percent, including 47.1 percent from three-point range, over the last two games of the series. The veteran also produced five steals in Game 5's home battle, and he totaled 38.3 DK/37.7 FD points back in Game 1 at TD Garden as well. Given his key complementary role and the Heat's porous road postseason defense, Smart is definitely in play for the lowest multiplier or a utility spot.

Caleb Martin, MIA - ($7,000 DK; $10,500 FD)

Martin's insertion into the starting five for Game 6 was an unqualified success, as he furnished 48.3 DK/45.5 FD points across 41 minutes on the strength of a 21-point, 15-rebound double-double. The talented wing hasn't been slowed down by the Celtics yet as he's shooting 58.3 percent, including 46.2 percent from three-point range, across 34.2 minutes over the first six games of the series. Martin should be back in the starting five Monday, and he's a near must-play at his salaries on either site.

Derrick White, BOS- ($6,400 DK; $12,000 FD)

White's late-game heroics in Game 6 are far from the only redeeming aspects of his recent body of work, as he's produced over 30 fantasy points on either site in each of the last three games. White is averaging a very well-balanced 17.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks across the last three games with the first unit. He is shooting 54.8 percent, including 54.5 percent from three-point range. White's DK salary is especially enticing, but he's a strong play on FD as well given his ability to check off every box on the stat sheet.

ALSO CONSIDER: Al Horford, BOS - ($6,600 DK; $10,000 FD); Gabe Vincent, MIA - ($5,200 DK; $9,000 FD)
