There has never been a rain-affected session at the Miami Grand Prix. However, it looks like that will change for the 2025 edition. As of this writing, it isn't expected to be a significant amount of rain for the race, but it's worth keeping an eye on as the deadline draws closer.

F1 Fantasy Sprint Weekend

It's the second sprint weekend of the 2025 F1 Fantasy season. If you're new to the game, then it's worth a refresher that there are three points-scoring sessions in Miami this weekend, compared to the typical two points-scoring sessions in a regular Grand Prix setup.

Sprint Qualifying is not a points-scoring session. Instead, F1 Fantasy managers will see how the grid is set for Saturday's Sprint race before locking in their teams for the weekend.

The points begin to count for the Sprint race. Eight points are awarded to first place, seven to second, and so on. Positions Gained and Overtakes remain the same (1 apiece), and there's also a five-point bonus for the Fastest Lap during the Sprint race.

After the Sprint, it's back to the regularly scheduled programming with Qualifying and Sunday's race making up the remainder of the points-scoring sessions.

F1 Fantasy Chip Strategy

With more points on offer in Miami than a typical Grand Prix weekend, many managers will be tempted to activate a chip. Let's look at some options for the race weekend at the Miami International Autodrome.

Limitless

The Limitless chip is always popular on a sprint weekend. More points of offer mean bigger scores, and that's a good thing for our F1 Fantasy teams. However, it may not be the optimal play for managers.

More points on offer mean more points for all the drivers on the grid. When using the Limitless chip, you want to build the biggest delta over the regular lineups in the game. If you play NFL Fantasy Football, it's similar to drafting Travis Kelce back in his heyday rather than taking your run-of-the-mill Tight End 12. You have a bigger difference maker over the rest of the field, and that's an advantage.

Regardless of whether you do or do not play Limitless this weekend, the best lineup (before any on-track results) looks pretty set. You'll run both McLaren drivers with George Russell, Charles Leclerc, and Max Verstappen. Then McLaren as one constructor, and Ferrari (if they look strong on Friday) or Mercedes as the second constructor.

No Negative

F1 Fantasy managers should watch the weather as the lineup lock deadline draws closer. As of this writing, there's a 40 percent chance of rain for Sunday's race. We last had rain in Australia, which caused absolute carnage. In my team, I caught four DNFs and scored a whopping 52 points in the season's first race.

Ferrari Back on the Menu

We've been waiting for Ferrari to return to our F1 Fantasy rosters since their double disqualification in China, and it looks like that day is finally here. The red Italian team is averaging 64.3 points per race since China, which ranks second behind McLaren.

As you can see in the above graphic, Ferrari is still trailing in the season averages because of the double disqualification, but everything else looks top of the class. Both drivers have made Q3 in every race weekend for maximum Qualifying Teamwork (QTW) points, and they lead all constructors with 11.0 Pit Stop points per race.

All signs point towards the Scuderia team joining my F1 Fantasy team for the first time this season. I'm betting on the lessons they learned in China turning into a massive points-scoring weekend in Miami.
