NBA DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (6/9/24) - Today's Top Lineups

luka doncic NBA dfs lineup picks daily fantasy basketball advice

The top NBA DFS daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on June 9, 2024. Use Juan Carlos' NBA DFS picks for building optimal DFS rosters to win big.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! After yet another dominant Celtics postseason performance in Game 1, we're set for what could be a more competitive Game 2 as the Mavericks look to avoid a potentially unconquerable hole. The lineup construction is a little bit different than your typical DFS slate as these include a 1.5x multiplier Captain's spot on DK that carries elevated salaries for each player, and MVP (2x), STAR (1.5x), and PRO (1.2x) spots on FanDuel, where player's salaries are the same regardless of roster spot.

The key to being successful in NBA DFS comes down to making adjustments during the day as injury information becomes available, but it's always really important to have a game plan and to have the best players and spots circled first before making those adjustments. To keep up with all the latest developments and get access to updated projections, grab an NBA season pass and also gain access to our RotoBaller Premium Discord, where @chiefjustice6 is talking about the slate up until lineups lock!

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 6/9/24. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our awesome NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 8:00 p.m. EDT on FanDuel and DraftKings. Good luck RotoBallers!

Today's NBA DFS Core Picks (Captain/MVP/STAR)

This is a star-laden Finals, which makes the candidates for the top multiplier spots pretty static from game to game. Such is the case in Game 2, with Luka Doncic the highest-upside play on the slate. Doncic's usage actually saw a bump in Game 1 -- his 26 shot attempts were his most since Game 1 of the WCF against the Timberwolves -- and he'll undoubtedly feel the pressure to put the team on his shoulders again with Dallas now in an 0-1 series hole.

Jayson Tatum was far from his sharpest in Game 1, shooting only 37.5 percent. However, he still managed a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double that netted 39.3 DK/33.7 FD non-multiplier points, and he also has an outstanding regular-season body of work against Dallas to fall back on, having shot 52.5 percent while averaging 35.5 points and 9.5 rebounds across two games.

Jaylen Brown continued his impressive postseason run in Game 1, recording 44.5 DK/48.2 FD non-multiplier points while shooting an outstanding 58.3 percent and recording three steals and blocks apiece. Brown's poor free-throw shooting -- he went to the line 11 times in Game 1 but parlayed only six of those visits into points -- continues to be the one confounding aspect of his game, but he's now shooting 54.3 percent while averaging just under 40 fantasy points per contest during the postseason.

Kyrie Irving is almost a tournament-only play on this list, simply because we've now seen him have multiple underwhelming games this postseason. The talented guard appeared to be coming into the series running hot after a stellar Game 5 against the Timberwolves, but Boston's suffocating defense consistently got the better of him and limited him to 6-for-19 shooting, including 0-for-5 from deep. Nevertheless, Irving merits consideration due to his 50+ non-multiplier fantasy-point ceiling.

Top Captain's Spot/MVP Plays:

  1. Luka Doncic, DAL at BOS – PG ($20.7K DK; $17K FD)
  2. Jayson Tatum, BOS vs. DAL – SF/PF ($17.7K DK; $15K FD)
  3. Jaylen Brown, BOS vs. DAL – SG/SF ($14.4K DK; $14.5K FD)
  4. Kyrie Irving, DAL vs. BOS - PG/SG ($13.5K DK; $13.5K FD)

ALSO CONSIDER: Kristaps Porzingis, BOS vs. DAL - PG/SG ($12.9K DK; $12K FD)

Today's NBA DFS Value Picks (Utility/PRO)

Derrick White seemed to almost get lost in the shuffle during Game 1 with so many big names taking center stage, but the veteran defensive wizard rather quietly posted 27.5 DK/25.9 FD non-multiplier points across 35 minutes. Naturally, White has potential for much more, having scored over 40 DK points in all four games of the ECF against the Pacers and over 40 FD points in three of those contests. He also shot 50.0 percent in two regular-season games against Dallas.

Jrue Holiday had an excellent complementary performance for the Celtics in his own right Thursday night, netting 32.5 DK/32.1 FD non-multiplier points across 35 minutes. Holiday shot 40.0 percent from behind the arc and didn't even significantly boost his production with some of his trademark defensive numbers since he recorded just one steal. If he bumps his numbers up in those categories and continues to check off the other boxes on the stat sheet, he could once again deliver nicely on his very reasonable salaries.

P.J. Washington actually had a better overall showing in Game 1 than Irving, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds, and one assist while generating 25.5 DK/25.1 FD non-multiplier points. Washington should once again be counted on for both his offense and work on the boards in Game 2, putting him firmly in play at his salaries.

Top Utility/PRO Plays:

  1. Derrick White, BOS vs. DAL - PG/SG ($7.2K DK; $11.5K FD)
  2. Jrue Holiday, BOS vs. DAL - PG ($6.6K DK; $11K FD)
  3. P.J. Washington, DAL at BOS - PF/C ($6.2K DK; $10K FD)

ALSO CONSIDER: Al Horford, BOS vs. DAL - PF/C ($5.6K DK; $9.5K FD)

Today's Top NBA DFS Avoids

I do not have any real faith in any Mavericks player beyond Doncic, Irving, and Washington, even the likes of fellow first-unit members Derrick Jones Jr., Dereck Lively II, and Daniel Gafford. That goes double for any Dallas second-unit player, making my player pool even narrower than it already would be on a single-game slate.

My Favorite NBA DFS Picks for Today

Here is where I leave you with some of my favorites.

  • My favorite overall play on the slate: Luka Doncic
  • My favorite CASH play on the slate: Jayson Tatum
  • My favorite GPP play on the slate: Jaylen Brown
  • My favorite value play: Derrick White
