We're nearing the end of both the minor league and Major League seasons, but there's always time for one last in-season prospect rankings update. We have plenty of notable movers this month, both positively and negatively, and some exciting names in the low minors are really starting to ascend up rankings.

These MLB prospect rankings are geared toward standard 5x5 fantasy baseball leagues (AVG) and consider many factors, including performance to date, scouting grades, future projection, and video and data analysis. Or, as I like to call it... "PPP," which stands for profile, performance, and projection.

While these dynasty fantasy baseball prospect rankings are more slanted towards long-term fantasy value, proximity and short-term value do play a part in where a prospect lands in my rankings. If you want to see the full Top 500, then head on over to my Patreon!

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings Notes

Trey Yesavage, Toronto Blue Jays

While he wasn't a big riser this month, I wanted to discuss Trey Yesavage here as he just made his Major League debut on Monday, September 15, the day before this article was posted. It was an impressive debut from the right-hander, who allowed three hits, two walks, and one earned run over five innings while striking out nine.

Yesavage's splitter was on full display in this one, generating 11 whiffs while his 4-seamer and slider each generated four. That splitter is Yesavage's bread and butter offering and one of the best splitters in all of baseball. Having seen it first hand a few months ago when Yesavage was in Double-A, I can attest to the nastiness.

In 98 innings across four levels of the minors this season, Yesavage posted a 3.12 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, a 10.5% walk rate, and a 41.1% strikeout rate. Yes, the command and control can be inconsistent at times, but Yesavage has elite strikeout rate upside, which we saw in his debut. Long-term, the upside is a high-strikeout #2 starter.

Rainiel Rodriguez, St. Louis Cardinals

One of the biggest prospect risers in my September rankings, and for the whole season, is St. Louis catching prospect Rainiel Rodriguez. In 84 games between the Complex Level, Low-A, and High-A, Rodriguez is slashing .276/.399/.555 with 22 doubles and 20 home runs. He's been especially hot over his last 24 games, cranking five doubles and seven home runs with a .302/.385/.573 slash line.

Rodriguez possesses one of the best blends of contact, approach, and raw power in the minors right now. For the season, he recorded an impressive 14.7% walk rate and 17.7% strikeout rate with a contact rate of 74%. That rate dipped a bit in High-A, but sat at 77% in Low-A with an 81.2% zone contact rate. On top of that, Rodriguez had an 88.6 mph AVG EV, 39.2% hard-hit rate, and a 10.5% barrel rate, all of which are impressive for an 18-year-old in Single-A.

Rodriguez is already in my top-50 overall as we close out the 2025 season, and if he continues hitting like this in 2026, we're going to see Rodriguez crack the top 20 overall, and maybe push to the same range where I have Samuel Basallo currently.

Alfredo Duno, Cincinnati Reds

Oh, look, another exciting young catcher prospect on the rise. While Duno had a great season overall, he was an absolute beast at the plate over the final few weeks of the Florida State League regular season. He was already trending up for me, but the dominant end to the season really caused his notable jump in my September prospect rankings.

In his final 19 games, Duno could do no wrong, slashing .377/.513/.902 with five doubles, nine home runs, and more walks (18) than strikeouts (10). For the season, Duno finished with 32 doubles and 18 home runs in 113 games with a .287/.430/518 slash line, 19.% walk rate, and an 18.4% strikeout rate.

The raw power that Duno possesses as a 19-year-old is truly impressive. He posted a 91.2 mph AVG EV, 48.6% hard-hit rate, and a 14.6% barrel rate this season. For players who saw at least one thousand pitches this season in Low-A, Duno's hard-hit rate ranked third, and his barrel rate ranked first.

While Duno has plus to double-plus power and a great approach, the contact skills do leave a little to be desired, as Duno posted a 68.2% overall and a 72.7% zone contact rate this season. There's time for him to improve those skills, but it's an area to monitor moving forward.

Ryan Waldschmidt, Arizona Diamondbacks

When it comes to top-50 prospects, Ryan Waldschmidt doesn't get talked about as much as he should. The Arizona outfield prospect jumped from #73 to #41 in my rankings this month, and the jump is 100% warranted. In 134 games this season, Waldschmidt slashed .289/.419/.473 with 27 doubles, 18 home runs, and 29 steals. He was better in Double-A than High-A as well, racking up 14 doubles, nine home runs, and 19 steals in 66 games with an impressive .309/.423/.498 slash line.

When you look at the profile of Waldschmidt, he doesn't have that one loud tool that really stands out, but he's just really good across the board with no real red flags. Waldschmidt has a plus approach at the plate, and showed that with his 16% walk rate, 17.6% strikeout rate, and 9.1% SwStr rate this season. He also had a 76% contact rate while consistently showcasing his above-average power/speed blend.

Honestly, Waldschmidt might push Top-25 overall status in my next prospect rankings update.

Cam Caminiti, Atlanta Braves

As a first-round pick in 2024 coming from a baseball family, the excitement and hype surrounding Cam Caminiti were already high entering the 2025 season. And after four lackluster starts at the Complex Level, he really found his groove with Low-A Augusta. In 13 starts (56.1 innings) at the level, Caminiti had a pristine 2.08 ERA to go with a 1.23 WHIP, 11.1% walk rate, and a 31.9% strikeout rate.

Yes, the walk rate is a bit high, but given Caminiti's advanced feel for his age, command and control aren't an area I'm worried about moving forward. Caminiti really checks off all the boxes I like to see with a young pitcher, showcasing an elite fastball with a good feel for both spin and his changeup. If Caminiti can develop one of his breaking balls a bit more in 2026, he could blossom into one of the elite pitching prospects in all of baseball.

Nate George, Baltimore Orioles

The best way to describe Nate George is that he's a really exciting player to watch. In 87 games between the Complex Level, Low-A, and High-A this season. George slashed .337/.413/.483 with 14 doubles, nine triples, five home runs, and a whopping 50 stolen bases. He was also caught 25 times, though, so he's going to have to clean up his efficiency to fully maximize his plus speed moving forward.

More efficiency on the bases and tapping into his raw power more consistently will be the key for George moving forward. He's flashed solid raw power, but was hitting too many groundballs this season, which helped limit him to just five home runs. But on the plus side, there's more raw power to be unlocked here, and George demonstrated a good blend of contact and approach this season with a 77% contact rate, 10.3% walk rate, and a 16.8% strikeout rate.

George was a major prospect riser this season and could join the elite ranks in 2026 if he taps into more power and becomes a more efficient base stealer.
