Joey's fantasy baseball buys and sells for MLB players currently on hot streaks. He looks at potential fantasy baseball frauds for Week 9 of the 2025 season.
Welcome, RotoBallers, to our weekly fantasy baseball frauds and buys/sells article. Each Monday, we will dive into which players were fantasy standouts from the prior week. It could be a hitter who has put together quality at-bats or a pitcher who has strung together multiple great outings in a row.
In this article, we will look at five of the most added players heading into Week 9 of the fantasy baseball season (May 26 to June 1). We will then determine if we should be adding these players or leaving them on waivers. All five players featured on this week's list are rostered in under 65% of Yahoo! leagues.
So, should fantasy managers be buying or selling these players coming off a solid week? Let's find out.

Logan Henderson, SP, Milwaukee Brewers
Rostered 64% of Yahoo! leagues
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Logan Henderson has thrown the ball well to start his major league career. He has a 1.71 ERA and 29 strikeouts through his first four starts this season. Last week, Henderson threw five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday and five innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
He has really been Milwaukee's best pitcher over the past two weeks, and it would be shocking to see the club send him back down when everyone is healthy. The right-hander currently has a 30.7% whiff rate, 39% strikeout rate, 37.5% hard-hit rate, and a .207 expected batting average against. Therefore, Henderson should be here to stay.
Through 4 starts, Logan Henderson has struck out 29 and allowed 4 runs. Only one pitcher since 1901 has matched (or exceeded) those totals through 4 career MLB outings.
He’s also in the same rotation as Henderson right now: Freddy Peralta

The Brewers' No. 12 prospect has allowed just four runs across his first 21 innings and has struck out at least six batters in all four of his major league starts. That makes him a must-add in all formats heading into Week 9. It'll be interesting to see how he fares in his next couple of outings, considering he'll face the Phillies and Padres in his next two starts.
Still, fantasy managers should add him in all formats. His fastball/changeup combo has been lethal for him to begin his MLB career.
Update: Milwaukee optioned Henderson down to Triple-A on Monday. He’s no longer a must-add.
Chase Meidroth, 2B/SS/3B, Chicago White Sox
Rostered 34% of Yahoo! leagues
Chicago White Sox infielder Chase Meidroth has looked solid at the plate since being called up from Triple-A last month. The 23-year-old is batting .305 with one home run, five RBI, and eight stolen bases in his first 29 major league games. More importantly, Meidroth has emerged as a strong fantasy option over the past two weeks.
He is riding a 12-game hitting streak while batting an impressive .396 since May 11. Although Meidroth only has one home run and three RBI during this span, he continues to showcase his potential on offense and on the base paths. The White Sox infielder has stolen five bases in his last nine games.
As a result, Meidroth could be a solid add in some 12+ team leagues heading into Week 9. He could hit for a high average and steal upward of 20 bases in 2025. With an expected .275 batting average, 18.7% chase rate, 12% whiff rate, and a 12.2% walk rate in the early going, Chicago's No. 8 prospect should stay fantasy-relevant for most of the year.
However, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to contribute much in the home run, RBI, or runs scored department. He has just a 1.2% barrel rate and a .342 expected slugging to begin his major league career.
Noah Cameron, SP, Kansas City Royals
Rostered 26% of Yahoo! leagues
Kansas City Royals pitcher Noah Cameron has been dominant in his first three major league starts. He threw six 1/3 shutout innings with three strikeouts against the Tampa Bay Rays in his MLB debut in a spot start on April 30. After spending two weeks down in Triple-A following that outing, the left-hander was called upon once again when Cole Ragans (groin) went to the injured list.
In his two starts in Ragans's place, Cameron has allowed just two runs across 13 innings (1.38 ERA). The 25-year-old allowed just one run across six 1/3 innings with three strikeouts against the St. Louis Cardinals on May 17 and threw six 2/3 innings of one-run ball with a career-high eight strikeouts against the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

Given Cameron's success on the mound to begin his major league career, he's definitely worth an add in most 12+ team leagues. After issuing five walks in his MLB debut, the southpaw has issued just one walk across his last two starts. So, fantasy managers should ride it out with him until Ragans and Seth Lugo (finger) return.
Now, no one knows what the Royals plan to do with Cameron once those injured starters return. The most likely outcome is that the team sends him back down to Triple-A. However, he is set to make at least one more start this turn through the rotation, making him a nice streaming option. Kansas City's No. 5 prospect is scheduled to make his fourth career start on Wednesday against the Reds.
Nick Kurtz, 1B, Athletics
Rostered 24% of Yahoo! leagues
There's no doubt that Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz got off to a slow start in his major league career. The slugging prospect was hitting just .208 with one home run, six RBI, and 31 strikeouts in his first 23 games. However, Kurtz has really turned it around offensively over the past week.
He has four home runs across his past five games, including a two-homer effort on Wednesday against the Angels. During this span, Kurtz has three multi-hit games and has totaled nine RBI. Therefore, this could be a sign of what's to come for the Athletics' top prospect moving forward.

— Athletics (@Athletics) May 22, 2025
Don't forget, Kurtz was unstoppable at Triple-A Las Vegas to start the season. He hit .321 with seven home runs and 24 RBI across just 20 games. Although he struggled to make an impact right away in the majors, the left-handed slugger definitely showed his power potential this past week for the Athletics.
As a result, Kurtz is worth grabbing in most leagues. He should post better all-around numbers in the coming weeks, especially since his barrel rate (13.1%), hard-hit rate (47.5%), and bat speed (77.6 mph) all rank extremely well.
Something that fantasy managers need to monitor with him, though, is that he is currently dealing with a hip issue. He missed Sunday's contest against the Phillies with that injury and remains day-to-day. Nonetheless, he should be added in almost all 10+ team leagues.
Brett Baty, 2B/3B, New York Mets
Rostered 13% of Yahoo! leagues
The New York Mets decided to option infielder Brett Baty down to Triple-A in late April amid his early-season struggles. Baty was batting just .204 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base in 19 games to begin his 2025 campaign. However, the 25-year-old has been a different player since being called up a few weeks ago.
He is batting .304 with five home runs, one double, 13 RBI, and one stolen base in 16 games since his return. Baty also had three strong games at the plate last week. The Mets infielder went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base in a 5-1 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday, a 2-for-4 day with one home run on Friday against the Dodgers, and a perfect 3-for-3 hitting day with two RBI in a 5-2 win on Saturday.
Those recent numbers have resulted in Baty being added in plenty of leagues entering Week 9. His rostership has jumped to 13% in Yahoo! leagues, and he continues to see the ball well at the plate.
However, fantasy managers shouldn't really be buying these recent numbers from the 25-year-old. His strikeout rate (27.2%) and whiff rate (29.9%) still rank extremely poor, and it's hard to imagine him becoming a consistent fantasy option throughout the year. While it wouldn't be a bad idea to ride his hot streak, he might not be a long-term answer for your fantasy team.
