Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson celebrated a new career-high in Sunday's 4-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils, extending his point streak to six games. Carlsson collected an assist on Chris Kreider's empty-net goal to become only the third player in franchise history with a point streak of at least six games before age 21. The Swedish youngster has been hot throughout the campaign, going scoreless only twice in 11 contests. He leads the Ducks with 11 assists and 16 points. Carlsson's point streak faces a massive test next, as the Ducks get ready to host the back-to-back Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.--Taavi Pailk

Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau provided both goals in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. He scored with his only two shots on goal, netting early in the second and third periods. Huberdeau's time in Calgary has been difficult, but he currently boasts one of his best point streaks as a Flame. He has managed at least one point in five consecutive outings, which marks his second-longest scoring run with the Flames. Last season, Huberdeau put together a pair of six-game streaks. Through nine appearances, Huberdeau has posted seven points (four goals, three assists) this season. The team has begun to recover from a poor start, helping several players, including Huberdeau, to improve their productivity.--Taavi Pailk

New York Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer became the youngest blue-liner in NHL history to record a multi-goal game on Sunday, helping the team to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Schaefer produced a power-play goal in the first period and netted a late game-tying goal during even-strength play in the third. At 18 years and 58 days old, Schaefer broke Bobby Orr's record by 190 days. Schaefer has had no trouble adjusting to this level, starting his NHL career with a six-point game streak. After 12 games, he sits on 10 points (five goals, five assists), becoming only the second 18-year-old defenseman in history to reach double-digit points in just 12 games. --Taavi Pailk

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (lower body) was back at practice on Sunday. The Canucks captain has been out for four games due to a lower-body injury, but he seems to be closing in on a return to the lineup. His next opportunity to rejoin the action will be on Monday night against the Nashville Predators. Hughes boasts seven points (one goal, six assists) through nine appearances this season. Despite missing time, he remains Vancouver's fourth-highest scorer. Hughes' return to the lineup would be a major boost for the Canucks, who have lost a lot of scoring punch due to injuries.--Taavi Pailk

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi (upper body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Sunday. He's been out for five games already due to an upper-body injury and looks set to miss more time. By moving Josi to Injured Reserve, the team can bring in a healthy body from the minors to fill in for forward Cole Smith (upper body). Prior to his injury, Josi had a decent start to the season, tallying five points (one goal, four assists) in eight contests, with 19 shots on goal and 15 blocks. The Predators defense also lost Adam Wilsby (lower body) this week, allowing Nick Blankenburg to come into the lineup. In Josi's absence, Brady Skjei is anchoring the first power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk

Nashville Predators left wing Cole Smith (upper body) will be sidelined for 3-6 weeks, the team announced on Sunday. Smith was injured in Saturday's clash against the Calgary Flames. Playing in a bottom-six role, Smith has averaged 13:26 of ice time, scoring three goals in 13 contests. He's the team leader in hits with 35. Nashville will return to action on Monday against the Vancouver Canucks, and Tyson Jost is expected to take Smith's spot in the lineup. Jost has been a healthy scratch for the past two games, having scored only once and recorded no assists in 10 games this season.--Taavi Pailk

San Jose Sharks right wing Ryan Reaves (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Sunday. In a corresponding move, the team recalled Ethan Cardwell from the minors. Reaves sustained a lower-body injury earlier this week and will miss a second straight game on Sunday night against the Detroit Red Wings. In 10 appearances this season, Reaves has averaged 3.7 hits while scoring two goals on six shots. Additionally, he has recorded 10 penalty minutes. Cardwell has had some success in the AHL, but during his first six NHL games last season, he managed just one goal and no assists.--Taavi Pailk

New York Islanders right wing Max Shabanov (upper body) isn't close to returning to action, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Sunday's matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets marks Shabanov's sixth consecutive absence. Before suffering an upper-body injury, Shabanov skated in six games, recording one goal and two assists with eight shots. In Shabanov's absence, Kyle MacLean has been a regular in the lineup, but he lacks fantasy value as a fourth-line grinder. In his seven appearances this season, MacLean has not recorded a single point.--Taavi Pailk

Philadelphia Flyers winger Tyson Foerster (lower body) won't play on Sunday night against the Calgary Flames. The 23-year-old potted a power-play goal in Saturday's 5-2 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he apparently sustained a lower-body injury during that game. The team announced that Foerster will be re-evaluated at a later date. Foerster has enjoyed a couple of three-game point streaks this season and boasts seven points (four goals, three assists) in 11 appearances. He's been playing in all situations, averaging 18:18 of ice time. While losing Foerster is a blow for the Flyers, they will get Sean Couturier (upper body) back in the lineup on Sunday.--Taavi Pailk

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier (upper body) will get back to work on Sunday against the Calgary Flames. After being hit by a puck in Thursday's matchup against the Nashville Predators, Couturier sat out Saturday night's action versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Flyers captain has been in top form this season, registering two goals and seven assists in 10 appearances. He's averaging 18:09 of ice time, with nearly two minutes of power-play time. Couturier should have his usual workload in Sunday's game.--Taavi Pailk

Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid collected assists on all three goals on Saturday night as the team took down the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in overtime. The Oilers captain was at risk of finishing with no points in back-to-back games for only the second time this calendar year. He made sure it didn't happen with a pair of power-play assists in the second period. McDavid then completed his hat trick off assists midway through the extra frame, helping Evan Bouchard secure two points for Edmonton. After 13 games in 2025-26, McDavid has accumulated 17 points (three goals and 14 assists). He needs just one more point to become the 69th player in NHL history to reach 1,100 regular-season points.--Taavi Pailk

Minnesota Wild winger Vladimir Tarasenko bagged one goal and two assists in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The Russian forward ended a six-game point drought with a power-play goal in the first period and recorded one even-strength assist in each of the next two periods. This marked Tarasenko's first three-point outing since April 1, 2024. While recent years have been tough for him, Tarasenko has done fairly well in 2025-26, totaling eight points (two goals and six assists) in 13 games. He has earned a top-six role and is part of the first power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk

Montreal Canadiens center Nick Suzuki dished out two assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators. His helpers came in the first period, when Cole Caufield netted his 10th goal of the season during even-strength play and Juraj Slafkovsky put the puck into the Senators net on the power-play. Caufield and Suzuki became the first set of Canadiens teammates since 1995-96 to both reach 15 points within their first dozen games. Suzuki leads the NHL with 16 assists in 12 outings and has tallied 18 points. His only scoreless effort came in Montreal's season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the next matchup, Suzuki will try to stay hot against a tough Philadelphia defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest goals in the league.--Taavi Pailk

San Jose Sharks defenseman Timothy Liljegren (upper body) was hurt in Saturday's matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, leaving him doubtful for Sunday's meeting with the Detroit Red Wings. The Swedish rearguard left the game with an upper-body injury after he was hit with a puck while on the bench. Health issues have limited Liljegren to nine games this season, during which he has recorded three assists, eight shots, 18 blocks, and 10 hits. Although Liljegren's injury does not appear to be serious, Vincent Iorio, who has been a healthy scratch for the past three games, may get an opportunity to play in his place on Sunday.--Taavi Pailk

Ottawa Senators left wing Nick Cousins (undisclosed) left Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Montreal Canadiens in the third period, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. Prior to his exit, Cousins was involved in a fight with Canadiens defenseman Jayden Struble. The veteran has contributed two goals and one assist in 13 outings this season, averaging close to two hits per game. Cousins gets a few days to recover, as the Senators won't return to action until their meeting with the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. If he isn't ready to play on Thursday, Ottawa is likely to bring Olle Lycksell back into the lineup.--Taavi Pailk
