Welcome back to our Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters - Category Boosters column for Week 24 of the 2025 MLB season. We are in the thick of it now, and seasons can be won or lost with our waiver wire additions.
You need to find those players waiting for you on the waiver wire this week, finding those guys who can give you the final push you need in offensive categories. We can help you find overlooked and underused players who can help you win now.
We will aim to give you three options for each of the five offensive categories in a standard five-by-five league. Our rule: All hitters will be listed according to their percentage of rostered players on Yahoo!, with a maximum of 50 percent. Let's look at names that might be under the radar, but who can help you now.

Runs Scored (R) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Sal Frelick, OF, Milwaukee Brewers (43% rostered)
Frelick may have been in this article more than anyone all season, and you can see why when you look at his skills. The outfielder has 10 home runs, 19 stolen bases, and 67 runs scored while hitting .294. The numbers don't wow you, but the stats add up.
Daylen Lile, OF, Washington Nationals (28% rostered)
Lile has quietly earned more playing time in Washington, and fantasy players are starting to pay more attention. His roster share has increased from 10% to 28% in just a couple of days. Why? Well, he has scored 11 runs since September 1, with two homers and seven RBI.
With the dearth of good available outfield depth on the waiver wire, Lile is going to be snatched up this weekend. See below. He's also hitting .315 since the All-Star break with six multi-hit efforts in September. He could help you win your flag.
Brandon Marsh, OF, Philadelphia Phillies (5% rostered)
Marsh was a fantasy darling going back a couple of seasons, but he largely ended up in platoons in Philadelphia and periods of prolonged struggle. Marsh is hitting .545 in September with 17 runs scored in six games, with a homer and five RBI as well.
Players like Marsh can help you down the stretch to win your league. He is the kind of streaky player who, if acquired at the right time, can bring you a championship by riding that hot streak.
Home Runs (HR) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Colson Montgomery, 3B/SS, Chicago White Sox (47% rostered)
Montgomery continues to hit home runs on the game's biggest stage. The batting average has hovered in the .230-.240 range, but he has a whopping 18 home runs in only 212 plate appearances. Montgomery has the look of being a 30-home run player.
See the Statcast bat tracking below. Montgomery's average bat speed is almost 5.5 miles per hour faster than league average. He also pulls the ball in the air over 26% of the time. I think people might be scared off by the middling batting average, but the power is real.
Jake Burger, 1B/3B, Texas Rangers (30% rostered)
Burger has fought through injuries this year and has been on the waiver wire much of the season, with players forgetting that he has 30 home run power in his bat when he is healthy. So, this is a bit of a speculative pick.
With Texas fighting for its playoff life, expect to see Burger's name in the lineup most nights, and expect those power numbers to get a boost. The veteran has 14 home runs in 335 plate appearances and has eligibility in Yahoo at first and third base.
Austin Hays, OF, Cincinnati Reds (11% rostered)
Hays is almost always on the waiver wire in most leagues, but proves to be a useful player nearly every season in which he gets playing time. Hays has four home runs in the last 10 days amid a modest six-game hitting streak. The veteran has 15 home runs this season.
Runs Batted In (RBI) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Otto Lopez, 2B/SS, Miami Marlins (20% rostered)
Lopez has been under the radar a bit this year, mostly due to his inconsistency at the plate. But, he's shown signs of life in early September, hitting .348 with two homers, four RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base.
Andrew Benintendi, OF, Chicago White Sox (5% rostered)
Benintendi has suffered a season besieged by injury and ineffectiveness, but he is hot in September. The veteran outfielder is hitting .381 with three homers and nine RBI over the last week. He could help down the stretch while he is going well.
Luis Torrens, C, New York Mets (2% rostered)
Torrens is getting an opportunity because he is a tremendous defensive catcher. We don't talk enough in fantasy baseball about how a great defender can stay in the lineup because of their defense. Torrens is hitting .417 with five RBI over the last week.
An unusual chart to have in an article on hitting categories, but to my point above, this is why Torrens is valuable to the Mets. Any offense you get is a bonus.
Stolen Bases (SB) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Luis Garcia Jr., 2B, Washington Nationals (50% rostered)
Garcia was a hyped pick in drafts in March 2025, with many fantasy players expecting a blend of power and speed at the keystone. He has done that, just very methodically, without fanfare. Garcia is now hitting .260 with 13 homers and 13 steals on the season.
The young veteran has three stolen bases in September while he continues to hit near the middle of a young and improving Washington lineup.
Caleb Durbin, 2B/3B/SS, Milwaukee Brewers (16% rostered)
The Brewers seemingly have a bunch of the same kind of players, and one of them usually makes their way into this weekly piece. Despite batting near the bottom of the order, Durbin has become entrenched as the everyday third baseman on an excellent team.
Durbin is hitting a solid .255 with 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases on the season, including four in the last 10 days. Add in that he has eligibility at second base, third base, and shortstop, and you have a useful piece to your team who is largely free at this time.
Victor Robles, OF, Seattle Mariners (10% rostered)
Robles made a quiet return this week to Seattle after nursing a serious shoulder injury. Robles has stolen two bases since his return last week, and figures to run often when he is on base. He has five in only 77 plate appearances in 2025, and stole 34 bases last year.
Batting Average (AVG) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Romy Gonzalez, 1B/2B/3B/SS, Boston Red Sox (14% rostered)
Gonzalez has played all over the field for the Red Sox this year out of necessity, and he has hit the entire season. What holds him back is being deemed a platoon player. Yet, Gonzalez has played several positions out of necessity for Boston.
He is hitting .311 for the season, but a robust .464 in September. Add him. Below is his batting average by month in 2025. Gonzalez is a useful player.
Drew Gilbert, OF, San Francisco Giants (5% rostered)
The Giants are making an unexpected and late surge for a playoff bid, and Gilbert has been a large part of that effort. He is hitting .304 with a couple of home runs in September while manning right field most days. He should continue to see ample playing time.
Chase Meidroth, 2B/3B/SS, Chicago White Sox (4% rostered)
Meidroth will end up being one of those players who are better in the real-life game of baseball rather than fantasy, but he has usefulness on the right team. Yet, he's hitting .423 in September while continuing to man the keystone, hitting all over the order.
