Should I drop Jordan Mason for fantasy football Week 11? Is Jordan Mason a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.
Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason started off the 2025 season hot. It really looked like he was set to take over the Vikings backfield -- he was acquired from the San Francisco 49ers in a trade after an impressive season with them in relief for the injured Christian McCaffrey.
Mason's game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3 reinforced this belief, as he rushed 16 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns, averaging nearly 7.3 yards per carry. But we now know that the Bengals have one of the worst defenses in the league, and that game was a fluke.
Since then, Mason has scored double-digit points only twice in six contests. He had two games with between 11 and 12 PPR fantasy points, but games of 1.6, 4.7, and 4.1 in his last three. Things are looking glum. But should you drop him in fantasy?

Should I Drop Jordan Mason in Fantasy Football?
It probably just depends on your league size. If you're in a 10-team league, it doesn't make much sense. If you're in a 12-team league, it depends on who else you have or who else you can get.
The Vikings are coming off a loss to a decent rush defense -- Baltimore has been bad against running backs overall, though that was largely due to its best run defender, linebacker Roquan Smith, being injured. He was back in the lineup.
Unfortunately, Mason's grip on the lead rushing role seems to be slipping. Last week, he had just four carries for 25 yards and caught one pass for six yards. More recently, his struggles in pass protection have become more apparent, and those aren't helping his upside.

Here you can see him getting dog-walked by Lions linebacker Jack Campbell. This likely contributed to Mason playing a season low in snaps -- he was on the field for just 25 percent of the team's offensive plays. Minnesota's struggles on offense aren't limited to the RB position, either.
QB J.J. McCarthy, in his first year as a starter, had a stinker of a game against Baltimore in Week 10, throwing for under 200 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions before the game got out of hand and garbage time commenced. If you're in a 12-team league, you're hanging on to Mason as simply a handcuff now.
Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?
Pickings are incredibly slim at running back right now. Tampa Bay Buccaneers tailback Sean Tucker is a nice choice, though. In Week 10, he became the only running back to have 50 or more rushing yards against the New England Patriots this season, even though he only had nine carries.
Tucker could be making a case to take over the lead rusher role from RB Rachaad White while Bucky Irving (shoulder) remains out with his injury. Tampa Bay's head coach, Todd Bowles, indicated that Irving likely wouldn't play in Week 11, and the Bucs have a favorable matchup against a porous Buffalo Bills rush defense.

Tucker's shown plenty of positive signs, but has yet to get the opportunity to be fantasy relevant. Irving's continued absence gives him a chance to be just that. You could also grab Arizona Cardinals tailback Emari Demercado. He's still listed as the team's RB2, but he's outplayed Bam Knight, the RB1, recently.

He's the most explosive running back on the team. In the above play, he hit a maximum speed of nearly 21 miles per hour despite weighing 215 pounds. The goal-line fumble gaffe he had in Week 5 is still playing a factor in him not getting as many touches, but that can change quickly.
Coaches want to get their most talented players the ball as long as they don't throw away possessions. Demercado has likely learned his lesson, as he hasn't fumbled since the mistake. He's the passing-down back, which gives him additional upside in PPR leagues.
