Should I drop Joe Mixon for fantasy football Week 11? Is Joe Mixon a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) is heading into Week 11 of the 2025 NFL season with the ankle and/or foot injury that he suffered in the offseason, that's had him placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
He's currently eligible to return, as the PUP list mandates an absence of at least four games. The Texans have played nine contests since they had their bye week early in the season. So, the only thing that's held Mixon back from returning seems to be his injury.
A lot is going on in the Texans offense right now, but there's little doubt that a healthy Mixon would help them be more competitive. They notched a thrilling last-second victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10, but they're still just 4-5. But with Mixon still out, is he worth dropping in fantasy?

Should I Drop Joe Mixon in Fantasy Football?
It depends. If you have injured reserve spots in which he's sitting, it's probably fine to hang onto him as long as you don't have other key players you need to put in his spot. Fantasy managers who drafted Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) might not have this luxury.
And in recent weeks, we've seen RB Woody Marks seemingly on his way to carve out a more consistent role in this backfield. Still, Mixon was a fantasy stud for part of last season. Though he wore down toward the end of the season, the rest of his body will be rested if he makes a return.

It seems now that Marks will be on a committee with Mixon when Mixon returns. Marks should keep seeing some pass-catching work, but Mixon looked much better last season when he was fresh. He should get plenty of work when he comes back.
The RB position is so scarce. It's hard to advocate for dumping an RB who has a chance of being the starter at any point this season, as annoying as it is to roster someone all season who's done nothing for you so far. With RB Nick Chubb being so ineffective, it doesn't make sense to let go of Mixon anymore.
Who Should I Pick Up for Fantasy Football?
If you're looking for an additional running back to pick up on top of hanging onto Mixon, you could snag Washington Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (shoulder). He's dealing with a shoulder injury, but he got the starting job after RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt was benched.
I remain convinced that Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury remains an excellent run-game schemer. The problem this season has been JCM. He runs with almost no power on film, and his broken tackle rate is abysmally low. He's not effective at running between the tackles. Rodriguez is much more powerful.

The Commanders have an offense that racks up stats in garbage time and can be competitive when quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) returns from injury. It's getting late in the season, but a healthy Rodriguez could take a commanding share of the backfield carries. Maybe. You stash him for the upside, though.
You could also take a shot on Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Sean Tucker. It looks like their starting RB, Bucky Irving (shoulder), is set to miss even more time than expected. Bucs head coach Todd Bowles already said he doesn't expect Irving to play in Week 11.

Tucker had an impressive game against the New England Patriots in Week 10 despite getting only nine carries, as you can see from the post above. RB Rachaad White is ahead of him on the depth chart, but he was highly inefficient, averaging only 3.8 yards per carry with his 10 rushes.
Against a weak Buffalo Bills rush defense in Week 11, we could see him outcarry White and perhaps break off a few big plays. Tucker is also the bigger back of the two, so he could sneak in for a score. A rising tide lifts all boats, and the Buccaneers have an excellent offense with a good offensive line that's been getting healthier.
