Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Player Outlooks
Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders
Year after year, Terry McLaurin cobbled together 1,000-yard seasons despite mediocre quarterback play. Through the seasons with Case Keenum, Taylor Heinicke, Sam Howell, and more, the fantasy community wondered: What if McLaurin played with a top quarterback under center? That wish finally came true when Jayden Daniels took the league by storm in his rookie season. McLaurin's yardage and reception numbers stayed mostly consistent.
The touchdown total spiked. He hauled in 13 in 2024 after 14 combined in the previous three seasons. There's concern that McLaurin won't be able to replicate that, considering his history and Washington's addition of another red zone threat, Deebo Samuel Sr. Nevertheless, fantasy managers can pencil in 1,000 yards and approximately 80 receptions from the consistent McLaurin. Touchdowns will determine if he's a WR2 or sneaks back into the top 12 in 2025.

DJ Moore, Chicago Bears
D.J. Moore should sustain his role as Chicago's WR1 after a transformative offseason that should produce multiple improvements in the Bears' offense and increased competition for targets. The shortcomings in Chicago's coaching staff during 2024 contributed to the Bears' deficiencies on offense, but that issue should be rectified through the arrival of Ben Johnson. Caleb Williams should also operate more effectively under Johnson, while benefiting from the Bears' offseason additions to their offensive line.
Those factors could also elevate Moore's numbers beyond the results that he attained during 2024. Moore's 140 targets (8.2 per game) represented the second highest total of his career, while his 98 receptions established a career-high. However, his yardage total dropped significantly when contrasted with 2023 (1,364/966), while he also registered career-lows in yards per target (6.9), aDOT (7.1), yards per route run (1.44), and air yards share (25.1 percent). Moore also finished 28th in points per game (14.0), after rising to sixth in 2023 (16.9).
Moore's competition for targets will intensify after Chicago selected Colston Loveland (10th overall) and Luther Burden III (39th overall) during April's NFL draft, while Rome Odunze could exceed the 19 percent target share that he secured in 2024. Moore should still deliver WR2 production, but is unlikely to exceed the expectations of his Round 4 ADPs in best ball leagues.

Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints
2024 was a disaster for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave. He was notably left out of New Orleans' scoring outburst at the beginning of the season. Then, just when he was getting on track, quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder) went out with an abdominal injury. One week later, Olave sustained his first concussion, converting his lone target on 3% of snaps.
The 24-year-old sat out the following week and returned with a big eight-catch, 107-yard performance on 14 targets, but suffered another concussion in the ensuing game and never took another snap. Though it's still the offseason, the turmoil hasn't quit for the Saints. The team announced Carr's issues with his shoulder, and he ultimately retired, leaving a hole in the Saints' lineup anyway. To fill the job, QBs Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and second-round rookie Tyler Shough will compete, offering an uninspiring trio of field generals.
Despite a ton of talent, the uncertainty around the Saints' offense and a lack of experience in the QB room undoubtedly lowers his ceiling. The Ohio State product was once regarded as a rising asset and should still operate as the top option. Still, it's possible we don't see his best this year with New Orleans' offense in transition. He slots in as RotoBaller's WR29 and No. 59 overall player.
