Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard will not play in Wednesday's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks. He recently returned from a lower-body injury, appearing in four consecutive games, but Girard will make way for Keaton Middleton on Wednesday. Girard has recorded 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) with 106 blocks in 70 games this season. Middleton has racked up 28 blocks and 60 hits in 34 outings but lacks offensive ability. He has yet to score with 38 shots on goal in 37 career NHL appearances and has tallied only two assists.--Taavi Pailk
