UFL DFS Value Plays: Week 5 Bargain Bin for DraftKings Including Quinten Dormady, Jacob Saylors, Jahcour Pearson, More

UFL DFS PICKS, FANTASY FOOTBALL, DRAFTKINGS, FANDUEL

Welcome to the Week 5 edition of RotoBaller's UFL DFS Bargain Bin, where the goal is to touch on some potentially mispriced players in DraftKings' Week 5 UFL contests. Each week during the UFL 2024 season and postseason, I’ll give you my thoughts on where there may be some value spots to exploit for DraftKings' wide array of tournaments and cash games. After you're done here, be sure to also read all our other weekly UFL fantasy football articles.

The XFL and USFL had both defied the odds over the last pair of springs to complete full seasons -- one in the case of the former and two in the case of the latter -- and they've now joined forces in the hopes of forming a stable and long-lasting pro football alternative for fans that also serves as a launchpad to the NFL for as many players as possible. There's a solid degree of carryover in terms of personnel from both leagues for the 2024 season, even though several teams from each league didn't make the cut for the UFL.

DraftKings' UFL DFS rosters largely mirror that of NFL contests, with a notable exception -- there is no TE-specific spot, but rather two WR/TE spots and two additional flex spots that can be filled with a running back, wide receiver, or tight end.

UFL DFS Bargain Bin Intro

Before we go UFL DFS Bargain Bin hunting, a few particulars about format and content.

The nature of the beast with value plays is at least a modest amount (and sometimes substantially more) of risk. Therefore, the Bargain Bin may prove to be a bit more of a roller coaster ride on some slates than your typical “tout” article! Naturally, that doesn’t mean there isn’t an upside to be had. All of these selections are therefore suitable for GPPs and can also often serve as solid cash game plays, while often helping you accommodate multiple higher-priced studs into your lineup.

This article is by no means intended to serve as an exhaustive list of all value options for the week. Rather, it is meant to take a deeper dive into those I feel offer some of the best combinations of savings and upside.

The goal is to recommend truly affordable players, as opposed to, say, a player priced just $300-$400 away from the highest-priced option at his position. I don’t have set-in-stone price limits in mind for each site, but I do consider legitimate affordability a very important criterion.

UFL Quarterback DFS Value Plays

Quinten Dormady, SAN at ARL | $9K

Dormady had several strong performances for the XFL's Orlando Guardians a year ago during a mid-season run as a starter, so he has the ability to step in and deliver following Chase Garber's injury. The Central Michigan product threw for 269 yards and a touchdown while completing a respectable 62.2 percent of his passes, netting 13.8 DK points in the process. Dormady showed little hesitation to be aggressive during his tenure in Orlando last season, and his impressive yardage total in Week 4 implies we could be in for more of the same in San Antonio.

ALSO CONSIDER: Danny Etling, MICH at MEM | $7.8K

UFL Running Back DFS Value Plays

Jacob Saylors, STL at D.C. | $7.3K

Saylors delivered handsomely as a Week 4 value suggestion, recording 24.2 DK points on the strength of a 103-yard rushing day that also included a receiving touchdown. The versatile running back appears to have a firm hold on the Battlehawks' lead-back role for now, and with his salary not having risen much, he's right back in play this week.

John Lovett, SAN at ARL | $6.7K

Lovett managed to reach double-digit DK points for the second straight game in Week 4, recording a rushing TD on 16 touches on his way to 13.4 DK points. The versatile back now has double-digit carries in three of the first four games of the season despite sharing the backfield with NFL veteran Anthony McFarland, and he continues to carry a reasonable salary in Week 5.

ALSO CONSIDER: Ricky Person Jr., BHAM at HOU | $7.1K

UFL Wide Receiver DFS Value Plays

Jahcour Pearson, STL at D.C. | $8.2K

Pearson was activated before the Week 4 matchup against the Showboats after recovering a knee injury, and the highly productive wideout picked up right where he left off with the XFL's Seattle Sea Dragons last season. Pearson grabbed all 10 targets for 70 yards and a touchdown versus Memphis, compiling 22 DK points in the process.

Marquez Stevenson, SAN at ARL | $7.1K

Stevenson has quietly ascended in the Brahmas' air attack, now logging at least six targets in three of the first four games. He topped out at eight looks in the Week 4 matchup against the Panthers during his first week working with Dormady as his quarterback, and although he only brought in three of them, he recorded a touchdown to help him net 11.6 DK points.

Marcus Simms, MICH at MEM | $6.1K

The fact Simms' salary remains what it is, makes him one of the most appealing value plays again this week, with his Week 4 performance his third straight with double-digit DK-point tallies. Simms posted 16.3 DK points on a 4-63-1 line versus the Brahmas, a performance that was preceded by a pair of 18+ efforts in Weeks 2 and 3.

ALSO CONSIDER: Tyler Vaughns, ARL vs. SAN | $6.6K

UFL Flex DFS Value Plays

Justin Smith, WR - SAN at ARL | $4.6K

Dormady made several of his pass catchers look good in his Week 4 debut, and one of those was indeed Smith. The Norfolk State product stood out with 20.7 DK points on a season-best 7-107 line on eight targets. Smith has drawn multiple targets in all four games he's played, but with his previous high a modest four, the boost while working with Dormady is certainly encouraging.

Cyril Grayson, WR - HOU vs. BHAM | $4.4K

Grayson entered the UFL with some under-the-radar NFL experience of a fairly high caliber, and it seems to be paying off early. The LSU product has put together an 8-102 line through his first three games, but all of those numbers came in the last pair of contests. Grayson has 10 catches for 102 yards over five games (three starts) on his NFL resume, with the passes that generated those numbers having come off the arm of none other than Tom Brady in 2021. With plenty of speed and an extremely affordable salary, Grayson is firmly in play despite the tough matchup on paper.
