The landscape of the NFL is ever-evolving. The quarterback darling of one season could be the cut candidate in the next. Running backs? Forget it. You can run for 1,500 yards in one magical season and never recapture that magic again. The "not for long" business mantra is true. It makes for great parity, but for us fantasy managers, it makes for quite a bit of unpredictability.

Dynasty fantasy football is a year-round affair. Players rise and fall off our radars. In order to stay competitive, we fantasy managers must make savvy moves that net us quality young talent. Make a move too early, and you could get burned by a player who does not pan out. Make a move too late, and you could have to pay a premium.

We are at the point of the dynasty season where you can start to sell players and recoup draft capital. All it takes is one other fantasy manager to take a player off your hands. Additionally, you can avoid certain players like the plague and let other managers take the bait on picking them up. Stay alert this early in the offseason, it can be the difference between a championship run and a toilet bowl.

Jake Ferguson, TE, Dallas Cowboys

Jake Ferguson went on a tear in the first half of the 2025 season. He could not stop scoring touchdowns, scoring six from Weeks 4 through 7, en route to eight on the year. However, that production came without wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in the lineup. Once Lamb returned, Ferguson's production fell off a cliff.

Had Ferguson kept up his run, he would have had a shot to finish as the TE1. Unfortunately, after Week 7, Ferguson only topped double-digit fantasy points three times. He had scored so many points in such a short span of time that he finished as the TE5.

Many people might only remember how Ferguson started the year, and you may be able to capitalize on that success. He was borderline unusable down the stretch of the season, and he has not exactly been a needle-mover at the position in the past. His highest finish was as the TE9.

Ferguson is only 27 years old, and he is important to Dallas' offense. You can sell that to other fantasy managers. However, given the way athletic tight ends have become very important to fantasy football, you will want to find yourself a true difference maker at the position.

Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers

This selection is less of a must-do and more of a suggestion to capitalize on the hype if you can. The Chargers just hired Mike McDaniel as their offensive coordinator. We have seen what he can do with a lesser quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. However, we do not know if the Chargers will employ the same downfield scheme.

McDaniel’s claim to fame is really his running scheme. Head coach Jim Harbaugh loves to run the ball, so this is likely going to continue to be a run-first team. Herbert may see a nice uptick in production, but will he really reclaim the top-5 status he once held?

There are a lot of fantasy managers chomping at the bit to see what Herbert can do this year. However, he has been a sleeper quarterback for the last three years in a row, and things have not exactly panned out. Herbert could be a nice option at the position, but he is unlikely to outperform Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson, who are true difference makers in fantasy.

If you can capitalize on Herbert’s hype, do so. Quarterback is one of the easiest positions to replace in fantasy. Could he have a massive year? Sure, but you may be able to get a haul for him. Do not trade Herbert for pennies on the dollar, but do not be afraid to swing for the fences either.

Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Christian McCaffrey has been the gold standard for running backs in fantasy for nearly a decade. However, McCaffrey is now entering his age-30 campaign off a season in which he received massive volume. McCaffrey tends to follow up voluminous seasons with injuries. Injuries are not predictable, but they do tend to pop up more for older backs.

At some point, the wheels will fall off this train. We already saw McCaffrey’s efficiency fall in 2025. The touchdowns were still high, but lower than what we are accustomed to from McCaffrey. The thing is, McCaffrey still holds massive value in fantasy. You could receive a huge haul for this guy.

Making a move away from McCaffrey would be especially good for a team that does not have a clear path to competing for a championship. He could likely net you multiple draft picks and a young player. Hit on those picks, and you will find yourself right back in the mix.

It is difficult to part ways with a player like McCaffrey, but the best dynasty managers get ahead of age cliffs. McCaffrey is so integral to San Francisco’s offense that he may never truly fall off a cliff. However, he won’t compete for the overall RB1 spot forever.

Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Arizona Cardinals

We are now two years into Marvin Harrison Jr.’s career, and he has not shown us the high-end potential we knew he had coming out of college. He looked unconfident and uninterested at times in Arizona. Perhaps a lot of that is on the coaching staff, but Harrison needs to consistently find space and hold onto easy passes as well.

Harrison’s draft capital likely still gives him some value in fantasy. However, if he is average once again in Year 3, that value will evaporate. Do you really want to be stuck holding the bag?

Of course, there is an argument to be made that many of Harrison’s issues have stemmed from a lack of chemistry with quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray may not be on the roster next year, but that still leaves a lot of uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position. While the situation could get better, it could also get a lot worse.

You should also take into account the emergence of fellow wideout Michael Wilson. Wilson was a legitimate fantasy WR1 down the stretch of the 2025 season. While he may not fully supplant Harrison, the new Cardinals’ coaching staff cannot simply ignore what Wilson was able to do. He will be a heavy competitor for targets in an offense that also features excellent tight end Trey McBride.

It may feel difficult to part ways with Harrison, given that you likely invested the No. 1 pick in a rookie draft for him. However, it would be better to get something for Harrison rather than watch his value continue to decrease. You’ll just need to call your shot with this guy.

D'Andre Swift, RB, Chicago Bears

D'Andre Swift has been solid in two seasons with the Bears. He finally found some consistency in Ben Johnson’s offense in 2025 en route to a second straight RB2 season. However, at 27 years old, Swift is approaching the running back age cliff. He is not a generational talent, and at some point, everything will fall off. You want to be ahead of that.

This offense also features Kyle Monangai heading into his second season in the league. Monangai came alive over the second half of the 2025 season. Monangai himself is a dynasty target.

Monangai is not going away, which caps Swift’s potential in fantasy. Unless this offense drastically changes, it feels like Swift has hit his ceiling. He may very well deliver another season or two of RB2 value, but you can use that as a selling point to get younger at the position.

Accumulating draft picks is never a sure thing in fantasy, but you have to take some risks to win big in this game. With Swift not moving the needle for a championship roster, you may as well see if you can find a player who will deliver higher-end fantasy value for a longer time than you will receive value from Swift.
