Players to Target in Trades for Fantasy Baseball

Chase DeLauter, OF, Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians placed rookie outfielder Chase DeLauter (rib) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 14) on Wednesday with a right side rib fracture and recalled outfield prospect Kahlil Watson from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. DeLauter suffered the injury over the weekend and will now be sidelined until at least June 24.

With outfielder Angel Martinez (foot) and star third baseman Jose Ramirez (hand) also going on the IL this week, rookie Kahlil Watson, who has an intriguing power/speed profile, could see plenty of playing time to close out June in Cleveland. With a small crack in his rib, fantasy managers looking to stash DeLauter shouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it back before the All-Star break in mid-July. The 24-year-old former 16th overall pick in 2022 out of James Madison University got off to a strong start to his rookie campaign in 2026, but he has cooled off recently and is currently slashing .263/.337/.408 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, 24 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 240 at-bats.

In 10 games in June, DeLauter went 8-for-35 (.229) with a double, two RBI, two runs, three walks, and 11 strikeouts. He's now rostered in fewer than half of Yahoo leagues (44%).

Verdict: Buy-low candidate following his recent injury and slump. His underlying marks suggest DeLauter should enjoy a solid bounce-back once he returns from this rib fracture (.278 xBA, .341 xwOBA). Managers needing help in the outfield can acquire an upside bat at the lowest price.

Ronald Acuna Jr., OF, Atlanta Braves

Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss said that outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (hamstring) is a "long way" from returning from the 10-day injured list, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Because Acuna's hamstring is in the same spot as his previous injury this year, the Braves will be more cautious than they were when Acuna missed almost three weeks with a previous hamstring strain. The 28-year-old former MVP and five-time All-Star landed on the IL for the second time this year last week with another left-hamstring strain, and he's looking at another couple weeks on the sidelines, at the very least.

Fantasy managers shouldn't necessarily expect Acuna to be back before the All-Star break in the middle of July. So far, the talented Venezuelan outfielder has been a bust in 2026 in fantasy with a .251/.373/.421 slash line, .793 OPS, seven home runs, 22 RBI, 15 stolen bases, and 31 runs scored across 53 games played. However, despite his lengthy history of lower-body injuries, Acuna's five-category upside means he could still carry fantasy squads in the second half if he can stay out of the trainer's room.

Verdict: Acuna profiles as a risky buy-low candidate. Managers will need to take a short-term hit, but they could be acquiring a fantasy superstar for a much lower cost.

Other Players to Target in Trades

  • Bryan Woo, SEA
  • Parker Messick, CLE

Players to Trade Away for Fantasy Baseball

Mickey Moniak, OF, Colorado Rockies

Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak (ankle) is scheduled to play in minor-league rehab games at Triple-A Albuquerque from June 18-20, according to MLB.com. He will then return to Denver on June 21 to be evaluated by the team's medical staff, according to manager Warren Schaefer. Moniak has been on the 10-day injured list since May 22 with right-ankle tendinitis, but he's getting close to a return, barring a setback this weekend. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder could rejoin the Rockies' starting lineup as early as Monday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox.

Moniak broke out last year in his first year with the Rockies, slashing .270/.306/.518 with an .824 OPS, a career-high 24 home runs, 68 RBI, and nine stolen bases in 135 games. He has kept it going so far in 2026, batting .280 (42-for-150) with 12 homers, 28 RBI, 21 runs, and a steal in 43 games played. However, his xwOBA of .324 and expected batting average of .228 should give fantasy managers pause as to whether to continue riding him the rest of the way.

Verdict: Moniak will emerge as a top sell candidate when activated off the IR. His underlying metrics suggested he greatly overperformed early in the season.

Brandon Woodruff, SP, Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) allowed three earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out six in 5 1/3 innings for a win with High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday in his latest minor-league rehab start. Woodruff got up to 82 pitches in the outing, so it's possible that his next start could come in the big leagues with the Brewers. The 33-year-old veteran has been on the 15-day injured list since late April with inflammation in his right shoulder after his velocity dropped off the table.

There was concern from the Brewers that he might need another shoulder surgery, but Woodruff has been cleared of any structural damage. The former 11th-round pick in 2014 out of Mississippi State University was 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA (3.96 FIP) and 1.03 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and seven walks in 30 innings across six starts with Milwaukee this year before being shut down. The two-time All-Star missed all of 2024 after having shoulder surgery, and his strikeout rate is down considerably at 20.7% after he had a 32.3% strikeout rate in 2025.

Woodruff can't be considered a fantasy ace anymore, but he still has value in most fantasy baseball leagues when he's fully healthy, and he's currently rostered in 87% of Yahoo leagues.

Verdict: Emerging as a potential sell candidate. Managers should wait until Woodruff returns to the mound, but they will be given a sell window once active. While Woodruff possesses a high floor when on the bump, his high injury risk makes him a volatile asset to roster going forward.
