Texas Tech Lands Former Florida State Quarterback Thomas Castellanos
Former Boston College and Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos has committed to Texas Tech, according to On3. Castellanos was granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA for a fifth season of eligibility last week. Castellanos played sparingly at Central Florida as a freshman in 2022 before transferring to Boston College in 2023. He started for a season and a half at BC, passing for 33 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He missed the rest of 2024 with an injury and lost his job, prompting a move to Florida State last year. Castellanos threw 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions for the Seminoles last year, along with his 2,760 passing yards. He added 557 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Castellanos is expected to back up Will Hammond, who is coming off of an October 2025 ACL tear.
