High-Confidence Strikeout Picks
Paul Skenes OVER 7.5 strikeouts (+108 FanDuel)
Skenes has topped this number just once all season, but it came two starts ago, and he finished just one shy in the two starts surrounding that outing. The strikeouts are down from a season ago, but they are clearly trending in the right direction.
Over his past three starts, Skenes has posted a 32.4% strikeout rate, and he's racked up 23 strikeouts in 20 innings. Two of those matchups were plus-spots against offenses that strike out at a top-10 rate against righties, but the other came against a Milwaukee offense that strikes out at the fifth-lowest rate in the league against righties.

Tonight, he faces a Colorado offense that is one of the most strikeout-heavy lineups in baseball. They have struck out at the fifth-highest rate against righties, and they have struck out more than any other team on the road this season. The road splits are notable since the Rockies play their home games at the most hitter-friendly park in the league, where the altitude plays a big role in suppressing strikeouts.
Eury Perez OVER 5.5 strikeouts (+113 NOVIG)
It has been a rough season from a run prevention standpoint for former Marlins phenom Eury Perez. He owns a 5.01 ERA through eight starts, and his strikeouts are under 25%, while the walks are over 11%.
Despite the dip in raw strikeout numbers, his swinging-strike rate is identical to last season's 13.3% mark, so he should be experiencing some positive regression in that department. And even though he has been a bit unlucky putting batters away, he has still recorded at least six strikeouts in each of his last four starts and six times in eight attempts this season.
Tonight's matchup against Minnesota leaves the hard-throwing righty in a good spot to continue his streak. The Twins have struck out at the seventh-highest rate in baseball against righties. They also rank just 17th in walk rate against righties, which should be beneficial for the youngster who has had control issues this season.
