Fantasy Football Drop Candidates

Read the recent news and fantasy outlooks of some of the top cut candidates:

Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers (Cut List Ranking No. 47 )

Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal is expected to see significant usage in Week 13 after rushing for only 13 yards on five carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11. Teammate Hassan Haskins (hamstring) remains on IR, and rookie Omarion Hampton (ankle) has been ruled out, even though the team opened his 21-day practice window earlier this week.

Vidal has been inconsistent lately, but is likely to handle most of the carries against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have a surprisingly strong run defense, allowing just 3.7 yards per carry (second-best in the league), which could challenge Vidal's efficiency. However, the Raiders' defense is also the league's worst at stopping goal-line touchdowns, boosting Vidal's scoring upside in a game where the Chargers' coaching staff might lean on the run if the team gets an early lead.

Given the opportunity and Hampton's injury status, Vidal should be upgraded to a mid-range RB2 for this week.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Commanders (Cut List Ranking No. 21)

Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt has seen his role decrease over the past few weeks as Chris Rodriguez Jr. saw a season-high 15 carries in Week 11 and ran for a very solid 5.27 YPC. Meanwhile, in that same Week 11 game, Croskey-Merritt had only a 27 percent snap share, and although he carried the ball nine times and caught one pass, it produced only 33 all-purpose yards (3.11 YPC) against a weak Miami Dolphins defense. Rodriguez appears to have taken over primary duties in this backfield, and at this point, JCM is mostly a shot-in-the-dark option if Rodriguez were to get hurt.

JCM broke out in Week 5 against the Chargers with 150 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns and earned the team's first rep opportunities for the proceeding weeks, but failed to capitalize on his opportunities with no game over a 3.59 YPC mark. His snap percentage and the team's running back opportunities have been dwindling each week in favor of Rodriguez Jr. At this point, JCM is considered droppable, but only for someone on the waiver wire who can provide your team with immediate value or is a high-level handcuff to roster for a playoff run.

Week 13's matchup against the Denver Broncos is challenging for all Commander running backs, and neither is considered a start this week.

J.J. McCarthy, QB, Vikings (Cut List Rankings No. 9)

Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy (concussion) remains in the NFL's concussion protocol and has officially been ruled out for his team's Week 13 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. With McCarthy sidelined, undrafted rookie Max Brosmer will make his first NFL start against Seattle. McCarthy's latest injury is the latest setback in what's been a disastrous 2025 season for the 22-year-old.

He's completed just 54.1% of his pass attempts and thrown 10 interceptions across six starts this season, and Week 13 will mark his sixth missed game due to injury. If Brosmer produces in a tough spot against the Seahawks, there's a chance he could get an extended look as the Minnesota starter. In his senior season at the University of Minnesota in 2024, Brosmer completed 66.5% of his pass attempts for 2,828 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions across 13 games played.

Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints (Cut List Ranking No. 40)

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle, knee) has been ruled out for his team's Week 13 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, per ESPN's Katherine Terrell. Kamara has been managing an ankle issue for much of the season, and he suffered a knee sprain in Week 12 that is expected to cause him to miss some time. However, he's not a candidate to go on Injured Reserve at this time.

With Kamara and running back Kendre Miller (knee) sidelined, New Orleans will likely turn to rookie sixth-rounder Devin Neal as its lead back against Miami. Neal has recorded 125 scrimmage yards on 29 touches across seven games played so far this season. The Saints also have former Broncos running back Audric Estime in their backfield mix, and tight end Taysom Hill is always a candidate for some short-yardage rushing work.

With Kamara out, Neal profiles as a low-end fantasy RB2 in Week 13.

Blake Corum, RB, Rams (Cut List Ranking No. 30)

Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum was beginning to carve out some standalone fantasy value after three straight weeks with double-digit carries. However, his momentum has stalled in the last two weeks, as he's seen a combined 15 carries for 34 yards on the ground while catching just one pass for a loss of five yards.

Despite the Rams blowing out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night, the 25-year-old had only seven carries for 24 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game. Corum has had a bigger role behind Kyren Williams in 2025 in his second year in the league, but it has led to just 82 rushing attempts for 341 yards and one touchdown on the ground in 11 games.

He's a fine handcuff for fantasy managers who have Williams rostered, but he won't be recommended as a flex play when the Rams face the Carolina Panthers in Week 13.

Kayshon Boutte, WR, Patriots (Cut List Ranking No. 22)

New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte returned from a two-week absence and played 80% of the team's snaps in Week 12 against the Bengals. He only had two catches on two targets for 15 yards, but he seems to be over his injury and ready to resume his role as the team's deep threat. Hunter Henry went off on Sunday on underneath routes, but Boutte is still involved enough on the outside to be a nice addition on waiver wires, if he's available in standard-sized leagues.

QB Drake Maye has been doing a good job spreading the ball around, which makes Boutte a boom-or-bust play with upside. He has totaled 25 catches for 446 yards and five touchdowns in his 10 games this season and has a favorable matchup this week against the Giants on Monday before a Week 14 bye week.
