Nick's top dynasty fantasy football drop candidates for dynasty leagues heading into Week 10 of 2025. Who is safe to cut in dynasty fantasy football leagues?
Now that the trade deadline has passed, we have some clarity about rest-of-season rosters in the NFL. We know which teams are going for it, which teams stayed pat, and (mostly) which ones are playing out the string.
For dynasty purposes, this week is a helpful point in the season. We’ll begin to see which rookies really have a future on their current teams, which pending free agents will earn an offseason payday, and, crucially, which players are losing their luster for fantasy purposes.
Our weekly piece will look at a few roster and player situations that have reached their dynasty roster breaking points. Thanks for reading.

Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints
I say this without a hint of sarcasm: Hill is one of the most unique athletes to ever play in the NFL.
Consider how insane it is that the Saints had a player who was big enough to play inline tight end, skilled enough to line up in the slot, athletic enough to play running back, and good enough at quarterback to run a real NFL offense. At his best, he was a matchup gremlin.
(Hot take alert: I legitimately believe the Saints win the 2019 Wild Card game against the Vikings in regulation had they stuck with Hill at QB, but I digress.)
Except for the freak, tight-end-sized quarterbacks — Daunte Culpepper first, followed by Cam Newton and Josh Allen — there aren’t many other players who A: could hold their own on an NFL line of scrimmage, and B: actually throw passes within the context of the offense, not just on trick plays.

In fantasy, he was a red-zone monster who earned end-zone targets, occasionally threw touchdown passes, and was the only eligible tight end who could be counted on for rushing yards, including valuable carries in goal-to-go situations.
But now 35 years old and attached to one of the worst offenses in the NFL, Hill’s time as a fantasy week-winner looks to be finished.
In a testament to his one-of-a-kind nature, the former BYU star actually led the Saints in rushing on Sunday, but that said more about the current state of the team. Hill gained 30 yards, 29 of which came on one play.
Tight ends rarely age well at this point in their careers, and Hill already has enough of an injury history to give managers pause about his long-term viability. He’s missed 13 of the Saints’ past 26 games, and now has yet to play a game this season in which he played 25% of his team’s snaps.
In five games, he has three targets.
With a first-year coaching staff in place in New Orleans, big changes are likely coming to the Saints’ roster during the next six months. Hill, a pending free agent, is questionable, at best, to be on next year’s roster.
Hill may have a few turn-back-the-clock games left in the tank, but at this stage, he’s not a startable player or likely to garner much in a trade.
Van Jefferson, WR, Tennessee Titans
As far as low-risk bets go, Jefferson wasn’t a bad acquisition for managers who added him for no cost during the offseason.
The Titans, as you may be aware, stink — but there is a fantasy-relevant pathway for pass catchers attached to NFL teams on the bottom shelf of the league. Bad teams spend a lot of their time losing, and almost perpetually trailing means you throw the ball a lot.
Is this formula a viable long-term strategy? No. But shopping in the discount bin can occasionally find valuable fantasy options like Jerry Jeudy with the 2024 Browns (90 catches, more than 1,200 yards) or Cole Kmet with the 2022 Bears (50 catches, 7 touchdowns).
Tennessee, which became the first NFL team to fire its head coach this season, certainly lived up to expectations, if you can call them that. But Jefferson still hasn’t been getting much attention.
With projected No. 1 receiver Calvin Ridley inactive on Sunday, the Titans’ offense actually scored some points, but that led to just one catch for 21 yards for Jefferson as the Titans continue to give opportunities to two rookie receivers, Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike.

Now on his fourth team in four years, Jefferson has one top-30 PPR finish among fantasy receivers since the start of 2023.
Despite playing 70% or more of his team’s snaps for four weeks in a row, Jefferson has just 14 catches on the year. This bet didn’t cash, and it’s time to move along.
Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills
There is almost always room on a fantasy roster for a running back who is liable to earn carries on a good team, and during his rookie season, Davis fit the bill.
His second season has been a different story. Six times this year, Buffalo gave Davis two or fewer carries, including zero on Sunday.
Twice, Davis earned nine carries in a game this season. He rushed for 16 yards and 24 yards, respectively. His only touchdown of the year is a catch, and even then, he has only six targets for three catches in eight games.
He has played less than 10% of Buffalo’s snaps five times in the past six games.
There are quite a few factors that don’t look good for Davis’ long-term outlook. Running back James Cook is by far the team’s top option, and only a year older. Quarterback Allen is the team’s best short-yardage option and has 34 rushing touchdowns in the past 2.5 years. Buffalo also regularly plays a fullback, Reggie Gilliam.

With running back Ty Johnson — who scored Sunday — still around, Davis is seeing dwindling time and not performing especially well when he gets carries. Perhaps Davis could be an add-in as part of a larger fantasy trade, but as of now, he has quickly lost dynasty value.
Ben Sinnott, TE, Washington Commanders
There were more than a few prognosticators who loved Sinnott in the 2024 NFL Draft, and a few more joined the fray when he latched on with Washington, where veteran Zach Ertz was the incumbent.
Now, it’s time to say this project isn’t happening.
Sinnott has seven targets total in his career. Seven. Ertz is still the team’s primary tight end and hasn't been challenged for that role whatsoever. Sinnott has played half of the team’s offensive snaps twice in two years.

While Ertz might not be on Washington’s roster next year, true impact early-career tight ends (see Harold Fannin, Jr. playing well despite the presence of David Njoku in Cleveland) will find their way into the pass-catching rotation. Sinnott, to put it mildly, has not done so.
Demarcus Robinson, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Despite the revolving door of 49ers wide receivers, Robinson hasn’t factored into the mix with just eight catches on the year.
The lack of production came in a season in which pass catchers Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall, and George Kittle all missed time with injuries, and top-paid receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) hasn’t played at all as he works his way back from ACL surgery.
Despite the injuries, the 49ers preferred the addition of Kendrick Bourne over Robinson.

Now 31 years old and firmly out of the picture for the 49ers, managers can safely move on from Robinson.
