Biggest Fantasy Football Busts of the Week - Fantasy Outlooks for Bryce Young, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jonathan Taylor, Rome Odunze, George Kittle

Several NFL players underwhelmed in Week 9 of the 2025 fantasy football season. Andersen Pickard identifies busts at each position and if they'll bounce back.

Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season resulted in several explosive fantasy performances, giving fantasy managers momentum to survive midseason bye weeks and injuries. However, many players also had disappointing games, holding their fantasy football managers back.

These underwhelming performances created plenty of stress and panic for fantasy managers. For some managers, a loss can directly be attributed to these busts.

Let's take a look at the biggest busts from Week 9, as well as whether or not we can still have some trust in these players moving forward. All point totals are based on the PPR scoring system. Players who missed part of the game due to injury are exempt from being featured.

Fantasy Football Quarterback Busts

Bryce Young, 3.0 FPTS

The Panthers won on Sunday, but Young had a brutal outing in his return from injury. The former No. 1 pick threw for just 102 yards and an interception, failing to record a touchdown. He should bounce back as a mid-range QB2 next week against a struggling Saints squad.

Fantasy Football Running Back Busts

J.K. Dobbins, 6.9 FPTS

Dobbins had 15 carries for 61 yards, and he also caught a pass for a loss of two. The veteran was not very productive as a receiver, and he extended his streak of games without a touchdown to four. As RJ Harvey gets more and more involved, Dobbins' upside is dwindling. He's a low-end RB2 for Week 10 against Las Vegas.

Jahmyr Gibbs, 5.8 FPTS

Gibbs had his quietest game of the season, tallying just 25 rushing yards on nine carries. He also caught three passes for just three receiving yards. The 23-year-old had his second game in the last three weeks with fewer than eight fantasy points. However, he has the talent to be a mid-range RB1 in Week 10 against a subpar Washington defense.

Chuba Hubbard, 1.7 FPTS

We knew Hubbard was going to be relegated to the backup role, but perhaps we didn't expect him to have just 17 rushing yards and zero catches. As long as Rico Dowdle remains healthy and effective, Hubbard will rank outside the top 36 fantasy running backs.

Alvin Kamara, 1.7 FPTS

Kamara had six carries for 14 yards on Sunday. He also caught one of his three targets for three receiving yards and lost a fumble. The veteran had one of the worst games of his lengthy career and was even outscored by Devin Neal in fantasy football. He's benchable in leagues with 12 or fewer teams ahead of Week 10 against Carolina.

Nick Chubb, 3.4 FPTS

Chubb had 11 carries for 34 yards on Sunday and was not targeted in the passing game. He has posted modest results on the ground while struggling to carve out a receiving role in the past few weeks. His fantasy value is entirely dependent on scoring touchdowns. He's a low-end RB3 for Week 10 against Jacksonville.

Brashard Smith, 0.7 FPTS

Expectations that Smith would share carries with Kareem Hunt never really came to fruition. The rookie had just seven rushing yards on three carries and failed to haul in his lone target. His usage will likely diminish even further when Isiah Pacheco (knee) returns on the other side of Kansas City's Week 10 bye.

Woody Marks, 2.7 FPTS

As much as Chubb struggled on Sunday, Marks couldn't do any better. The rookie had just 2.7 yards per carry and didn't catch any of his three targets. He's a low-floor RB3 for Week 10 against the Jaguars.

Jonathan Taylor, 7.7 FPTS

Taylor had his worst game of the season, finishing with fewer than 12.8 fantasy points for the first time in 2025. He had just 45 rushing yards on 14 carries, caught two passes, and saw his four-game touchdown streak come to an end. He should have no trouble bouncing back as a high-end RB1 in Week 10 against the Falcons.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, 5.1 FPTS

Croskey-Merritt had just 3.2 yards per carry and caught just one short pass in the Commanders' primetime loss to the Seahawks. The rookie remains in a running back committee, as he was out-produced by Chris Rodriguez Jr. on Sunday night. He's merely a low-end RB3 for Week 10 against Detroit.

Tyler Allgeier, 0.6 FPTS

Allgeier has been able to carve out standalone value at times this season, but that wasn't the case Sunday against a strong Patriots run defense. He had just two carries for six yards and didn't get involved as a receiver. The 25-year-old should be stashed on the bench as a mere handcuff behind Bijan Robinson.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., 6.7 FPTS

Tracy underperformed in his first game as the lead back with Cam Skattebo (ankle) sidelined. The 25-year-old had just 37 scrimmage yards and was out-touched by Devin Singletary, 10 to eight. He's a low-floor RB3 for Week 10 against the Bears.

Zach Charbonnet, 5.6 FPTS

Charbonnet came back down to earth on Sunday night, unable to replicate his two-touchdown showing from the other side of the Seahawks' bye week. The 24-year-old had just 46 scrimmage yards, scoring the bulk of his fantasy points on one play (a 25-yard reception). He's a low-floor RB3 ahead of Week 10, but a matchup against the struggling Cardinals should work in his favor.

Kimani Vidal, 3.0 FPTS

Vidal has become impossible to predict. Facing a favorable matchup against the Titans on Sunday, he was held to just 30 rushing yards on 12 carries while failing to catch his lone target. The 24-year-old is still a low-end RB2 for Week 10 against Pittsburgh, but his floor is relatively low.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Busts

Keon Coleman, 3.7 FPTS

Coleman was held to just two catches for 17 yards against the Chiefs. He has been held to six or fewer fantasy points in three consecutive games. The second-year pass catcher ranks outside the top 36 fantasy receivers heading into Week 10 against Miami.

Rome Odunze, 0.0 FPTS

Odunze's weird season continues. The second-year receiver was unable to haul in any of his three targets on Sunday and has an overall 8.8% drop percentage, the highest mark on the team. He finished with a goose egg on an afternoon where the Bears dropped 47 points. Inconsistency continues to plague Odunze, who will fall to the WR3/flex tier in Week 10 despite a favorable matchup against the Giants.

Xavier Legette, 3.2 FPTS

Legette had just one catch for 22 yards, finishing with fewer than four fantasy points for the second consecutive week. Tetairoa McMillan and Dowdle remain the centerpieces of Carolina's offense, leaving players like Legette and Jalen Coker in inconsistent depth roles. The second-year receiver can be benched in most fantasy leagues as he prepares to take on the Saints.

Keenan Allen, 6.1 FPTS

Allen had just two catches for 41 yards on Sunday, delivering his second single-digit fantasy performance in the last two weeks. He's a talented player, but he's facing clear competition from the likes of Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and Oronde Gadsden. Allen will drop to the WR3 tier for Week 10 against Pittsburgh.

Jakobi Meyers, 6.3 FPTS

Meyers caught four passes for just 23 yards on Sunday as teammate Brock Bowers stole the show with his three touchdowns. The 28-year-old has posted single-digit fantasy points in five consecutive games. Barring a trade deadline move, Meyers is a mid-to-low WR3 for Week 10 against Denver.

Darnell Mooney, 2.5 FPTS

Returning to the No. 2 role and getting his starting quarterback back wasn't enough for Mooney to possess fantasy relevance. He was held to just one catch and is not a reliable fantasy starter ahead of Week 10 against the Colts.

Xavier Worthy, 6.0 FPTS

Worthy was overshadowed by Rashee Rice and Travis Kelce on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes spreads the ball around every week, finding different receivers to pepper with targets. Just because Worthy underperformed this week doesn't mean he's avoidable going forward. He remains a high-end WR3 on the other side of Kansas City's Week 10 bye.

DK Metcalf, 2.6 FPTS

The Steelers ran the score up on Indianapolis, but Metcalf underperformed with just two catches for six yards. Aaron Rodgers preferred targeting Calvin Austin III, Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith, and Darnell Washington. Metcalf is a matchup-based WR2 and remains somewhat of a risky play ahead of Week 10 against the Chargers.

Fantasy Football Tight End Busts

Evan Engram, 0.0 FPTS

Engram, who saw three targets on Sunday, was held without a catch for the first time this season. His role has fluctuated week by week, but it's worth noting that he has just one game with double-digit fantasy points in 2025. The 31-year-old is more of a steady TE2 rather than an appealing TE1, even ahead of a favorable matchup against Las Vegas.

TE Evan Engram's been wide open on his two targets today and Bo Nix has missed him twice. Two have just rarely seemed in sync this season when Engram isn't the first read on a play.

George Kittle, 6.9 FPTS

Kittle caught four passes for the second consecutive week. He operated more as a blocker than a receiver, providing physical support to create opportunities for players like Christian McCaffrey. He's still an uber-talented player who should bounce back as a mid-range TE1 next week, especially if Brock Purdy (toe) returns to action.
