Five weeks down, and the terrain for the 2025 fantasy football landscape has been established. However, things can change in an instant, as we see players break out much like Jacory Croskey-Merritt did in Week 5.
Whether your fantasy team is at the top of the standings or all hope seems lost, keep grinding, as you never know what next week will bring. There are moves to be made that can be your team’s difference-maker.
Here are three buy-low candidates and three sell-high candidates before Week 6.

Buy-Low Trade Targets for Fantasy Football
QB: Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (hamstring) is not expected to play this week, but he remains one of the most valuable fantasy assets moving forward. Jackson suffered a hamstring strain during the Ravens’ 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and is expected to return in Week 8.
Through the first three weeks of the season, no quarterback performed better than the two-time MVP. Jackson averaged 27.6 fantasy points per game, leading all quarterbacks by more than three points per game. He also ranked fourth in completion percentage (72%), second in rushing yards (118), and first in total touchdowns (10).

When Jackson returns, the Ravens will be in desperate need of a spark on offense, and fantasy managers should be ready for it. His upcoming matchups against the Bears and Dolphins, both of whom rank in the bottom quartile in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks, set him up for an immediate rebound.
Even more enticing, his fantasy playoff schedule includes four games against bottom-10 defenses, giving him league-winning potential down the stretch.
If there’s ever been a time to buy low on Lamar Jackson, this is it. Once healthy, he’s the kind of difference-maker who can single-handedly carry your fantasy team to a championship.
RB: D'Andre Swift - Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift has gotten off to a sluggish start in 2025, but fantasy managers shouldn’t panic just yet. Through four games, Swift has logged 56 carries for 187 yards and two touchdowns, adding 13 receptions for 85 yards through the air.
While the efficiency hasn’t been there, the underlying usage and team context point toward better days ahead. First, the volume remains encouraging. Swift has played 67% of the offensive snaps (14th among all running backs), maintaining a firm grip on the lead role despite rookie Kyle Monangai seeing some involvement.

Even more promising, the Bears offense under new head coach Ben Johnson looks revitalized. Chicago ranks 11th in points per game (25.3), and the offensive line has emerged as one of the league’s most reliable units. Back in 2022 with Detroit, Johnson’s offense started 1-6 before finishing 8-2 down the stretch as one of the NFL’s most dynamic attacks.
With a favorable schedule ahead (four of the next five matchups coming against bottom-12 run defenses), Swift is positioned to bounce back in a big way.
WR: Rashee Rice - Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is set to return from his six-game suspension in Week 7, stemming from hit-and-run charges during the 2024 offseason.
Before the suspension, Rice was one of fantasy football’s most hyped breakout candidates, and for good reason. Over the first three games of the 2024 season, he caught 24 of 29 targets for 288 yards and three touchdowns, ranking as the WR2 overall during that span.

While there was initial concern that he suffered an ACL tear in Week 4 last year, it was later revealed to be just an LCL injury, allowing him plenty of time to recover and prepare for the 2025 season. Now operating as the clear-cut WR1 in the Chiefs offense, Rice steps back into an ideal situation with Patrick Mahomes, the best quarterback of this generation.
If you believed in Rice before the season, this could be your final chance to buy low. Expect him to deliver an explosive 11-game stretch that could make a serious difference in the fantasy playoff race.
Sell Candidates for Fantasy Football Trades
QB: C.J. Stroud - Houston Texans
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud finally broke out in Week 5, delivering his first big performance of the season. After a sluggish start, Stroud erupted against a struggling Ravens defense, throwing for 274 yards and four touchdowns.
However, fantasy managers should temper expectations. Stroud has dealt with one of the worst offensive lines in football, and it showed early. From Weeks 1-4, he ranked just QB27 in fantasy points per game (13.9) while the Texans averaged 16.0 points and 289 yards per game, both bottom-5 marks in the NFL.

His big outing came against a Ravens defense that has been historically bad, allowing 35.4 points per game and over 400 yards of offense. Following its bye in Week 6, Houston faces four straight defenses ranked inside the top 11 in fewest points allowed.
Outside of Nico Collins and rookie running back Woody Marks, this Texans offense doesn’t offer much reliable fantasy production. With a brutal stretch ahead and an inconsistent supporting cast, now is the perfect time to sell high on Stroud.
RB: Alvin Kamara - New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has struggled to deliver fantasy value in 2025. Through five games, Kamara has totaled 73 carries for 283 yards and one touchdown, adding 17 receptions for 77 yards. The once-elite dual-threat back simply hasn’t provided the same spark he once did.
One of the biggest concerns is Kamara’s declining role in the passing game. He’s currently on pace for just 262 receiving yards, which would mark a career low by more than 200 yards. That lack of aerial involvement has zapped much of his fantasy upside, especially in PPR formats.
Adding to the concern is the rise of Kendre Miller, who has logged double-digit carries in back-to-back games and seen his snap share increase every week, while Kamara’s continues to trend down.

The only path for Kamara to regain value might come through a trade before the November 4 deadline. However, even if a move occurs, there’s no guarantee he lands in a more favorable situation.
For fantasy managers, this could be the moment to sell Kamara before his value drops further. If another manager is betting on a trade, take advantage and move on from a fading fantasy asset before it’s too late.
WR: George Pickens - Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has started his Cowboys tenure explosively, catching 23 of 37 targets for 357 yards and five touchdowns through five games. However, this may be the perfect time for fantasy managers to sell high.
Star receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle) has missed the past three games with a high-ankle sprain but is expected to return in Week 7. Once Lamb reclaims his WR1 role, Pickens’ target share and scoring opportunities will take a hit.

In the first two games of the season (when Lamb was healthy), Pickens managed just eight receptions for 98 yards, while Lamb commanded 16 catches for 222 yards. Pickens will remain a capable WR2/3 option moving forward, but his week-to-week consistency will likely dip once Lamb is back in the lineup.
Fantasy managers rostering Pickens or tight end Jake Ferguson should explore trade opportunities now, as Lamb’s return will funnel most of the passing volume back through the Cowboys’ top weapon.
