Week 5 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Adonai Mitchell, Luther Burden III, Dontayvion Wicks in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III, and Green Bay Packers wideout Dontayvion Wicks are all outside the top 70 wide receivers in PPR points scored through four games.
That doesn't mean they're not worth at least considering as waiver wire pickups, especially in deeper leagues or for fantasy teams that are reeling from injuries. Even those with outside shots at putting up big numbers can be valuable to add.
Each NFL team has a lot of moving parts in its passing game, and even players in the later portions of their careers can break out. So let's dive into waiver pickup advice ahead of Week 5 for all three players!

Adonai Mitchell Week 5 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 4% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
Mitchell has almost everything you want in an NFL wide receiver. He has elite athleticism and can separate from coverage very well with the suddenness of the cuts he makes in his routes. But he just makes mistake after mistake at the catch point or with the ball in his hands.
Mitchell is a frustrating player to watch because of this. He'd likely have a bigger role in this offense if it weren't for the blunders and gaffes he makes, which often fly under the radar. His latest unnecessary mistake definitely didn't.
Ball is out before it crosses the goal line. It’s a touchback!

It wasn't the only ugly error he caused. He drew a holding penalty, which negated a long Jonathan Taylor touchdown run, too. Mitchell routinely has serious issues with so many areas of his game, and they've stopped him from being a bigger part of the offense.
With his athletic profile and abilities, he could be the team's No. 1 receiver. But that's unlikely to happen any time soon. Still, he's worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.
Luther Burden III Week 5 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 34% of Leagues
Baller Move: Don't Add
Burden, after his "breakout" game in Week 3, where he totaled 101 receiving yards and scored a touchdown, didn't see an increase in playing time in Week 4, and caught both of his targets for negative four receiving yards. It was an abysmal day for the second-round pick.
Burden surprisingly didn't see the field more. It's notable that his big TD catch was on a trick play and busted coverage in Week 3. He was given absolutely no room to run in Week 4. With the game against the putrid Dallas Cowboys defense in the rearview mirror, it's time to come back to reality.
Caleb Williams' 65-yard touchdown pass to rookie Luther Burden III traveled 62.1 yards in the air, the longest completion in the NFL this season, and Caleb's longest completion of his career.#DALvsCHI | #DaBearspic.twitter.com/D5GQjABob3

And the reality is that Burden missed much of training camp and a ton of practice time due to injury issues. He's also a raw prospect who has a lot of work to do on his game. It might take some time for him to break out in the NFL. He has the physical talent to do so, but it appears he's not ready for a big role in the offense.
Dontayvion Wicks Week 5 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 9% of Leagues
Baller Move: Don't Add
There isn't much reason to hope for Wicks to have a nice season this year. It looks as if he's, at best, the team's fourth receiving option in the pecking order. This comes even as WR Jayden Reed (foot/clavicle) hasn't been playing due to injuries.
Wide receivers Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden and tight end Tucker Kraft have all easily outproduced Wicks this season. Doubs caught three touchdowns on Sunday night against the Cowboys, and Golden totaled five catches for 58 yards.

The Packers spread the ball around generously in their offense, and don't heavily target any of their players. Wicks has yet to reach double-digit PPR fantasy points in a game this season. It's hard to trust him moving forward.
The Packers game in Week 4 was a huge shootout, ending in a 40-40 tie. Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns. Wicks managed just two catches for 19 yards. He's not involved enough to make an impact.
It's best to leave him on waivers.
